@ArmyRanger10 I looked at the MSR and the big difference is the volume of water the filter can clean before it's maxed out. There is a difference of about 100 gallons. The Vario filter lasts a bit longer. Also Katadyn make a hand held filter that can filter something like 10,000 gallons at 2 microns but it;s pricey. about $200
