  • Yeah Z-11 was 63 only. 62 is a 409/409

  • @kevs56chev

Actually you are partially right Kev. 62's did come with 409/409 motors as well as a few others. In mid 62 GM released new performance parts to help the 62's compete better. The parts were sold individually and included tall heads 2 piece intake, upgraded solid camshaft cowl induction aluminum fenders/hood along with a few others. These were released to racers only, like Dave Strickler and the Old Reliable.

    CONTINUED IN NEXT POST.....

This was the predecessor to the Z11 package released in 63. The only real differences between the 62 mark 2 engine upgrades and 63 Z11 were the stroked 409 to 427 was part of the Z11.

  • @partsguru2000

There is very little info on these parts and there were fewer than 30 parts packages sold in 62. very very rare...more rare than Z11.

  • @partsguru2000 Ron, That's one hell of a GREAT sounding machine. Whats in it for motor, stroker??. Also that exhaust sounds awsome. Just wondering what exhaust system are you running????

  • BAAAD ASS. Thats why the beach boys had to sing about it.

  • Actually the Z11 is a 409 stroked to 427 cubic inch. Technically the Z11 was released to racers in the 1963 model year and this is technically the Mark II engine upgrade, the predecessor to the Z11...which is in fact a 409.

I use Z11 in the title because its the more recognizable name and more well known that the more rare MARK II in 1962.

  • It's a Z11 so it's a 427.
