Anyone ever have any trouble with those huge rocks? I'd like to learn how to surf and was told N.S. is great (I'm from PEI) but those rocks look sketchy. Any places with good waves and a beach? haha
@joshrad123 actually, the water is usually good all the way into September in many cases, but if you live more south, it'll be unbearable for you, we've adapted :P
It can vary from 55 F degrees to 70 F . Chances are if you go in late July or August you will get quite hot with the wetsuit, but its a good idea because it protects you from board burn on your chest. If you are going in the summer just get a thin wetsuit.
im coming up to nova scotia in late august for vacation and i have always wanted to try surfing. can you surf in august? does anyone know the best place to go? thanks
yeah ..ive actually been in some 4 meter waves with my boogie board. pretty good breakers too...but go off cow bay or lawrencetown and u can get into some monsters for nova scotia...hurricanes brought 9 meter waves to cow bay last year
They aren't at all similar in the learning stages. Learning to surf is extremely difficult, but very rewarding. Once you can consistently catch and ride waves, that's when your skating experience helps... but it takes a lot of effort to get to that point.
Umm longboard skateboard i found carves are similar to like round houses in surfing but surfing is really difficult cause most of it is wave knowledge or a huge part of it. Kind of like if the half pipe, rails or road is moving :) and moves differently every time
It has to do with a question a guy asked awhile back in the comments, i thought i'd reflect on the question since i do both. How does coliflower10 feel about the question?
They actually feel very similar. You use the same toe and heel weight to turn a longboard skateboard as you do on a short or long surfboard. But i used round houses as an example because with the skate is more drawn out and round houses are drawn out turns
Haha this is rediculous. Alright first of all why would I ask a question and then reply to it myself, sounds slightly like schizophrenia to me.
Earlier on a guy asked if skateboarding and surfing had anything in common? I already established this... I said yes they do, not saying that if you can skate you can surf. But they have similarities and i think if you have experience in either surfing, skateboarding or ssnowboarding it is going to benefit you in one or the other.
they must be freezing

From Cape Breton to Cape Sable there are surf spots all along the coast with fall hurricanes bringing the best surf (usually)
Thrumylookingglass 2 years ago
@dylancohen10 yeah, hurricane Earl made perfect waves for surfing in the digby area, from what I heard.

I skateboard, is picking up surfing much like learning to skateboard?

butt like it realy has nothing todo with it
round houses on a surfboard or any manuver in general on surfboard be compared to somhting on a longboard skateboard totaly differnt feel
nothing compares to water

man surfing cant be compared to skating tho because of the constriction of concrete why would you ask that question tho just to say you longboard?
