I didn't really like this one. Don't get me wrong I loved the original and the 2nd one, but this one was way too short compared to those. Sure the graphics are pretty good (for ds standards) but the storyline was much weaker. The puzzles weren't even that hard either.
Thumbs up if you were expecting this Golden Sun to be better than the previous ones? And it turned out to be a real stinker compared to the rest of the franchise.

@jpheitman There are certain features that the DS offers that pretty much make the upgrade indispensable, though I guess I can sort of see where you're coming from. However, if it's graphics you're complaining about, then you're really backing the wrong horse with Nintendo. As much as I hate pointing people in the other direction from one of my favorite video game powerhouses, you should probably start investing in Microsoft or Sony.

It was the only game i brought along on trips, and it would last me for hours every...single...time! I played it over so many times that I maxxed my character stats from using power breads and stuff on them each time around XD

@adept91 being a huge fan of goldensun even in the days that people had forgotten about it, i still searched the web in answers of a sequel. but i never heard of the 3ds sequel being in developments. You have to understand that before they do a sequel, dark dawn must sell enough or else they'll stop there. i've read about the article saying the developper's were excited about the 3ds, but they might release a different game on it like shining force or some mario sport that they usualy make.
I'm sorry to say that this game does not live up to the Golden Sun title it holds. The gameplay mechanics are the same, and the music is wonderful and nostalgic. But, the story lacks the sense of urgency of the original games. In fact, the plot itself is very weak. Not t mention the difficulty that made the first games so enjoyable has been toned down for a younger audience. It's far too easy now. I waited seven years for this sequel. Camelot has truly let me down.
@5p4rk13r look man, im just glad they made a new game and its actually not tht bad even though u could beat the game by just attacking, its pretty fun and u cannot complain about the camera angles when your in battle, thats one of the major reasons why i loved to fight random monsters. just cuz of tht. but wat rlly PISSED me off, was no battle mode, i have nothing to do now cuz i already got all summons, weapons and shit like tht, and now i have absolutely have nothing to do -_-
@5p4rk13r u found the plot weak since you haven't understood the meaning of it. to tell you the truth this one for me made all the sense possible that the 1st two lacked to fill. i mean yes it's seems useless but when u start to connect dots, you graps the whole concept of golden sun and its meaning. u might bash at the difficulties but storywise it has succeded in story telling more than the 1st two and has alot more depht to it Who are the adpets weyard's past and future etc.
@Sethbeastalan the difficulty hasn't been toned down it only was evident for us veterans. back then at the age of 12 i used to have a hard time with the puzzle as my mind was untrained for those type of puzzle. now that we made it throught hte 1st two its simply normal that it seems easier. same goes for zelda games after a while playing them they all seems pretty easy.
@Atstyle No it really was toned down. I'm in the middle of playing the first one and it's much harder than this one. Even then the first one isn't very hard at all meaning Dark Dawn is ridiculously easy. Every part of it.
@bugexe when you mean toned down do you mean battle-wise or puzzle-wise? cuz the puzzle are more complex in dark dawn that they were in gs1 but not gs2.

well i personally love the art work in this, what the point of getting the game if the graphics with the game not any good? it looks better then older version.

Yeah when u mention it the difficulty was a bit low and they should have added some more to it.....yeah like u said, bigger and harder challenges would be awesome. Maybe some side quests and more secret places, and a bigger world of course! =D

@Quingsy I agree with all of the above, although i was a bit dissappointed with GSDD. Main reason because my favorite chars are Felix, Jenna & Piers (Sheba just doesn't do it for me, what's up with her haircut lol, same reason why i don't like Rief xD). In the game they make various references towards the Lost Age protagonists (such as Jenna being Matthews mom & Riefs sister loving with grandpa Piers) and I want to give Matthews sol blade to Felix again. Hope camelot will answer my prayers!

@DegseOner Actually the Homepage of goldensun.nintendo only talks about Isaac and Garet. Even though Ivan's Doughter is introduced (like the main charakter Mathew. Garet an Isaac will definitly be in the game, as you're going to have them in your party at the beginning), about Ivan however there is apsolutely nothing. Also none of the other charackters are mentioned. But maybe they all will be part of the story? We'll see^^

@Atstyle No it really was toned down. I'm in the middle of playing the first one and it's much harder than this one. Even then the first one isn't very hard at all meaning Dark Dawn is ridiculously easy. Every part of it.

@bugexe when you mean toned down do you mean battle-wise or puzzle-wise? cuz the puzzle are more complex in dark dawn that they were in gs1 but not gs2.

Yeah when u mention it the difficulty was a bit low and they should have added some more to it.....yeah like u said, bigger and harder challenges would be awesome. Maybe some side quests and more secret places, and a bigger world of course! =D
It was a good game, but i personally think that 1 and 2 were better :P

@Quingsy I agree with all of the above, although i was a bit dissappointed with GSDD. Main reason because my favorite chars are Felix, Jenna & Piers (Sheba just doesn't do it for me, what's up with her haircut lol, same reason why i don't like Rief xD). In the game they make various references towards the Lost Age protagonists (such as Jenna being Matthews mom & Riefs sister loving with grandpa Piers) and I want to give Matthews sol blade to Felix again. Hope camelot will answer my prayers!

People, honestly, if you haven't play this game then u should better be quiet and play it because i played the GBA version (1 & 2 ) and this game RLZZZZZ! i would even say it's a really good competition to pokemon

I loved the first and second GS games so much. I remember after finishing the second one, being told that a third one was coming soon. That was roughly 10 years ago. But I'll forgive them if the game is good!
Can't wait to buy it and try it out. :)

I got this game on my B-day, 12/2/10, when I turned 13. This is THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!!
The 3D is awesome, I love fighting the Grave Eclipse monsters :D
I'm over halfway through the game. It's simply beautiful. :'D

I saw it in the store and decided I wanted it for Christmas, but looking at the trailer....
I don't like the fact it isn't the original people. I suppose I should still get it and play it, but I don't think I could get into it.....

@Valese16 Look, I may be strange for this, but I play the games for the story. Personally, I don't usually like a story that starts talking about the children of the first heros. I may play it one day, but I don't see the point of spending over $30 for a game I may not even want to finish. I liked the first two games. I hear this one is good. I'm not here to say it sucks. I wouldn't know I havn't played it. I'm saying I may not be able to get into it. I'm not speeking for anyone else, just me.

Then (as various websites told me and I'm sure u all heard) it was released today,, I go to gamestop: "oh ya, that game doesn't come in till tomorrow" NOOO!!! Dang I've waited all day... Guess I'll wait till tomorrow,,,wish me luck :)

When I saw the commercial for this game, I flipped out. I loved both of the Golden Sun games. I had my mom go search for the strategy guide for me. Man, if you saw that thing today. You would know that thing has been used for way too long. I'm going to have to replay the first two games now. :D and at first it seemed like I was one of the only people that noticed this amazing game. Haha I fee like a nerd. How about anyone else?

@DegseOner Actually the Homepage of goldensun.nintendo only talks about Isaac and Garet. Even though Ivan's Doughter is introduced (like the main charakter Mathew. Garet an Isaac will definitly be in the game, as you're going to have them in your party at the beginning), about Ivan however there is apsolutely nothing. Also none of the other charackters are mentioned. But maybe they all will be part of the story? We'll see^^
