Amazing- beautiful sound and awesome undertones throughout! I am a beginner, just learning FOTD, but I aspire to this in another year or so. I did go out and buy the August back-issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine - had to buy it on ebay, as the website no longer offered it.
...and I have to say, that is one BIG CHAIR you are in!! Haha! It's like a wicker chair-and-a-half!
Tight as hell ! By far the best cover I have ever heard period. Drop D works so good on this. By the way that Alverez sounds schweet all day. I have a Masterworks series MD 60 . What kind is that
@jeffreypepperrodgers I'd recognize a Manzer a million miles away :) , a big fan of Bruce Cockburn and he's been playing Manzers for years. I almost got his classic blue top at auction but was short 5K :), enjoy that sweet AXe, Linda makes Beautiful guitars.
Saw this transcribed in acoustic guitar magazine August 2010 issue. I hadn't heard it for a long time. So looked it up here. I randomly clicked on this version to see what it was like. Wow, I thought, this is good who is this Jeffery Rodgers fella? I did a Google search. He's and editor of AC magazine, and the very person who transcribed the song! Well done Sir!

HEEEEEYYYYY taht was incredible...one of my favorite songs done in a way I have never heard before...I messed around with my guitgar for over an hour trying to get this down...didnt happen...are all of the strings tuned to artivulate with that drop d on that top e?
Thanks... This arrangement is actually regular dropped D (first string tuned normally). I just recorded this for a project called Dead to the Core, an EP of Dead tunes (including "Fire on the Mountain" and "Stella Blue") performed with solo guitar and voice. That'll be released digitally in March '10.
@13wildbeast Thanks. This'll be on a video coming soon from Homespun Tapes: Learn to Play the Songs of the Grateful Dead. Plus it's transcribed in the August 2010 issue of Acoustic Guitar.
Thanks... It's dropped D tuning (sixth string down to D). I focus less on the chords and more on the groove and bass line--lots of muting and string percussion. And I echo some of the lead guitar riffs (Garcia on electric guitar) on the original record.
Wow that's where it's at nice job!!
