Amazing- beautiful sound and awesome undertones throughout! I am a beginner, just learning FOTD, but I aspire to this in another year or so. I did go out and buy the August back-issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine - had to buy it on ebay, as the website no longer offered it.

Saw this transcribed in acoustic guitar magazine August 2010 issue. I hadn't heard it for a long time. So looked it up here. I randomly clicked on this version to see what it was like. Wow, I thought, this is good who is this Jeffery Rodgers fella? I did a Google search. He's and editor of AC magazine, and the very person who transcribed the song! Well done Sir!

Thanks... This arrangement is actually regular dropped D (first string tuned normally). I just recorded this for a project called Dead to the Core, an EP of Dead tunes (including "Fire on the Mountain" and "Stella Blue") performed with solo guitar and voice. That'll be released digitally in March '10.

Thanks... It's dropped D tuning (sixth string down to D). I focus less on the chords and more on the groove and bass line--lots of muting and string percussion. And I echo some of the lead guitar riffs (Garcia on electric guitar) on the original record.
