Well it was meant to stop the huge knife thing from cutting him... the mechanisms or whatever in the device would make it stop. But it didn't stop because Jigsaw didn't make the trap, so whoever made it made it inescapable so he would of got cut in half if he did or didn't crush his hands.

The traps were OKAY, nothing special. Don't put the glass box on the adverts when it turns out to be absolute shit in the movie. Why the hell is Hoffman Jigsaw's accomplice? How actually shit. There is no similarity with Saw 1, either. I might be wrong, but wasn't that 'bloodbath' on the end a little similar to the one in Hostel 2? Cept Hostel's was GOOD. I'll be downrated but I do love Saw, but please don't make me waste £6.50 next year.
