my favourite part in the whole series. unbelievably good AND in the first chapter => one of the things that keeps you watching! like a warranty of "good stuff." it's delicate such as few things that we get to see today and still it wasn't made such a long time ago...
there is a sensitivity combined with theatricality that really tickles my fancy about this scene. and i knew it had to be somewhere on youtube so that later i could upload it for everyone to see :) and so i found it :)
you can see from a mile away before this dream that this guy cast as a mormon will turn out to be on the downlow gay. also his wife doesn't seem to know why she's depressed and takes pills. but she's "knows" her marriage is a failure even though she doesn't know why..she thinks it's her so she is being driven mental by it but it's him. he's just gay. and she just doesn't know.
The way they do this scene was great. It really justifies making a film version, with the similarities to Cocteau, and the black and white/color. And Harper's entrance is just awesome. Haha.
@yetzer19 It does kind of bum me out that this is the only scene they get together in the HBO version. They get like 3 more in the play, and get to meet in real life.
Harper's last line: "There's a part of you entirely free of disease" makes me weep every time I see it. In any other circumstance, I would find this line corny, but it's just so well-acted.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, for uploading this on here! And it is quite nice that there are subtitles in my language. LOL not that I don't have a degree in English. XD
Louis' Boyfriend deserves a lot better than him. If my bf was dying I would be with him even past his last breath holding his hand. Likewise if I was the one dying and he would live. Louis is an ass for leaving then hitting on another guy
That Harper always turns out to be the most perceptive and eloquent character in this movie. Even if she is blind to some obvious (!) facts in her life.
This is incredibly good; especially having 'Dance of the Blessed Spirits' by Gluck as background music played by (if my ears are not mistaken) James Galways: honesty wrapped as kitsch, kitsch performed honestly .. how apt!
now i know how to spot gays. they love long walks apparently

What director is the B&W bit an homage to? Cocteau?

@musicalfool It is a very funny part, also tells you a lot about the story, but as a stand alone it is meant to be comical. :-)

I love that they chose Justin Kirk for playing Prior Walter. He's not just very good-looking he is a very talented actor as well.
