@ShoutmeoutD27 I have had in the last 10 years 1 x AUll ute 1 x BA XT ute 1 BA XR6T ute and now the FG XR6 Sedan, not having the turbo is a little different but the 6 sp manual is a way different creature. I really like the spread in the 4 gears and you still get acceleration in 5th from 90k's and 6th is amazing a little over 1600 rpm at a 100, this is going to have great economy, and it's fun, not had a manual falcon since my 351 GT days. Ford have really lifter their game

@brazzr VE2 SV6's look much better than the XR6 well even the first series VE looked better than the XR6, bulging wheel arches and all, makes it look aggressive, whereas the XR just looks prissy
I am not going to lie to u the Ford as a daily car is a good choice, the interior is much nicer than the holdens, tho the holdens new air vents (SV6) and touch screen console are fabulous if a lil hard to work out at first glance. Sum it up Holden SV6 better sound and look, Ford is interior/gearbox

I do a lot of hwy kms, and i like accelerating / decelerating by using the + & - keys on the wheel. With the Holden you gotta get ur right hand off the wheel & twist and hold it clockwise / anticlockwise.
You're right , maybe not a big deal but i've been use to doing this since Ford first had cruise on the wheel in 1988 !
Funny how Holden still class their new cars as having a "multi function" sterring wheel ! LOL
How about the stupid little wheel on the Commodore steering wheel to change radio/channel and audio.. so dam lame. All and all, the Falcon interior craps all over the Commodore. The colour screen in the FG(not the one in this video) looks awesome!
@ShoutmeoutD27 I have an FGXR6T with the lux pack... I hired a new Statesman on a recent holiday, those little wheels are pathetic.. and overall the interior(even on the Statesman) had nothing on my XR6T. I never said I could design one better myself, but it dosen't change the fact that Holden make shonky interiors... they can't make a decent 6cylinder engine either.

@ShoutmeoutD27 The Holden V6 requires more acceleration to get the equivalent performance when compared to the Falcon, being the reason it's no better on fuel with the SIDI. V6s just aren't smooth by nature. Why do you think BMW/Merc use straight 6s, straight 6 is so much smoother power delivery. You say the SV6 "goes better", how? I'm afraid the stats don't suggest its quicker or better on fuel(real figures from reviews not Holden's BS claims). Just say you're Holden bias... that's cool.

No, I never even drove the Aurion because my neighbor has one and they are if not even uglier than the hideous VE inside. Plus I'm not into anything Japanese. Go and do yourself a favor and take the G6E for a spin, or if you live in Brisbane we should catch up for a drive and you can take mine for a test run. The new fords are SO user friendly. Everything about the V series Calais just about shat me to tears. The position of the cruise control, EVERYTHING on the ICC was in a PRICK of a position
aurion is built in melbourne, it's no more japanese than the commodore is chinese, actually its far superior to the VE i spend 2 weeks driving both around tasmania, and base model vs base model there is no comparison
The steering wheel i hated also, but the ONE thing that made my girlfriend and i just about run away from the dealership was the massive price tag they wanted for the V series Calais (with the options i wanted included). What a joke! What a joke... But the funniest part of that joke, is people spend the MONEY and buy these overpriced shitboxes. They dont look to bad from the outside, but its what inside that was the kill. The FG looks smooth and sleek yet sporty at the same time.
Picked up the keys to my FG XR6 this morning and literally had to force myself to park the car at the end of the day. What a brilliant machine! Gave my VE SV6 driving mate a run in it and he reckons as soon as he is able, he will trade his SV6 for an XR6. Coming from a die-hard Holden fan, then is a big confidence boost for Ford. Basically, the FG XR6 is a fantastic machine whilst the VE SV6 is cheap rubbish. That people pay good money for VE's says a lot about how stupid some Aussies are.
mate, i own a new G6E... i went to the holden dealership and drove the V series Calais it was going to cost me at LEAST $60,000 with what i wanted optioned on it, had a shit as gearbox in it 5 speed clunker. and it was so ugly and looked SO cheap inside the car the screen is down the bottom on the icc, (the icc is just dogshit altogether) and it just didnt feel right.
but the new ford on the otherhand, the new FG is just awesome they really did their homework the car is so user friendly big massive step from the BA/BF. the G6E is light years away from the V series calias. and got the G6E drive away for 44,900 12 months rego, ipod integration, sat nav. plus all your standard stuff like reverse camera premium sound ZF 6 speed auto ect. FG is shitloads better than the VE and to all that dont think so then you obviously have not driven the FG model.
@Revorob dam straight champ, getin rid of our 09 ve sv6 for n fg, just hit 40tho ks on the ve n its already falling apart, ac dont work, windscreen trims fallin off, idles really rough, hard to get in2 3rd gear, rattles galore.

Each to their own, I guess. I have mates that love their VE's and other that love their FG's. Personally, I will admit the VE's look more sporty on the outside - even if their appearance is a direct rip off of the BMW M5's. However, I maintain that the interior of the FG XR6 is streets ahead of the VE SV6.
Personally, I can't wait till Saturday when I pick up my FG XR6.
I have also driven both and i think the look of the VE is by far so much better than the angular look of the FG
The FG does have its positives that the VE dont
ie - Yes the Interior console of the FG XR6 is better than the VE SV6 but all other areas the VE Kills the FG, The VE may look eerily BMW like but thats like saying the new Jaguar XF looks too similar to Aston Martin. That is no bad thing
I test drove both a VE SV6 and a FG XR6 yesterday and I gotta say, the XR6 is the better car in every department - more grunt, better ride, vastly better interior (the inside of the VE looks like something deigned by Kia) and overall features. The FG XR6 is a car Aussie can be proud of. The VE SV6 is a car that makes me want to cringe with embarassment.
Needless to say, I happily put down a deposit on an XR6 and can't wait to pick it up.
Talking stock "factory" cars and anyone can have the clubby only a small amount of lucky bastards have had the choice to get a W427 cause it was a limited edition, they not selling no more
hehe yeah i not as tall as some, i'm only 5"8 ish, not 100% sure, but yes it is a very nice car, i'm more than 80% a HOLDEN man but still appreciate that FORD do make a good car, as i've said to a friend that owns a Manual FG XR8 that the FG's are more well appointed than the VE although i have said to him the VE is by-far a much nicer car to drive and a much more aggressive and better looking car compared to the Commodore VZ let alone the FG models
i would say that ford finally cought up with holden's exterior design with the FG, for me this ford is the best aussie car ever, unless ofcourse is a HSV Superclubby :)... i guess that ford was always with the better interior and holden with the exterior... but things are changing.. :)
I love the VE's but there are few areas that they get ahead of ford (eg exterior, driveline) and the ford's have slightly better interiors, and seats and speedos

yeah, is a shame that the VE SV6 is missing the centre console screen. XR6 interior is better. Exterior has to be VE. Too bad the FGs still doesn't have projector lamps.
I've driven an FG G6 (essentially the same car as the XR6). It's a far more well rounded package than the Commodore. The Falcon Inline 6 aces the Commodore's V6 in almost every way, as well.

It was a G6E, thinking back on it. It drove great, plenty of power, comfortable, good handling and quite refined. It also very easy to drive for such a big car. But if you're looking for something a little more subtle, definitely recommend the G6 over the XR6.

What i like about the Ford is that you can set the cruise & control it from the steering wheel (as do BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc).
Fucking Holden to this day still have the cruise on the stick !

I do a lot of hwy kms, and i like accelerating / decelerating by using the + & - keys on the wheel. With the Holden you gotta get ur right hand off the wheel & twist and hold it clockwise / anticlockwise.
You're right , maybe not a big deal but i've been use to doing this since Ford first had cruise on the wheel in 1988 !
Funny how Holden still class their new cars as having a "multi function" sterring wheel ! LOL

Yeah so true! i like the interior Steering wheel/center console better than the holdens
but when looks come into it the Holden kills the ford equivalent in both the looks as well as the engine/exhaust sound

How about the stupid little wheel on the Commodore steering wheel to change radio/channel and audio.. so dam lame. All and all, the Falcon interior craps all over the Commodore. The colour screen in the FG(not the one in this video) looks awesome!

@ShoutmeoutD27 I have an FGXR6T with the lux pack... I hired a new Statesman on a recent holiday, those little wheels are pathetic.. and overall the interior(even on the Statesman) had nothing on my XR6T. I never said I could design one better myself, but it dosen't change the fact that Holden make shonky interiors... they can't make a decent 6cylinder engine either.

@ShoutmeoutD27 The Holden V6 requires more acceleration to get the equivalent performance when compared to the Falcon, being the reason it's no better on fuel with the SIDI. V6s just aren't smooth by nature. Why do you think BMW/Merc use straight 6s, straight 6 is so much smoother power delivery. You say the SV6 "goes better", how? I'm afraid the stats don't suggest its quicker or better on fuel(real figures from reviews not Holden's BS claims). Just say you're Holden bias... that's cool.

Umm yes i have driven the VE Omega and SV6
And Yes also the BA/BF/FG XR6's and make no mistake the Falc XR6's are great cars but as far as the "drivers car" goes, in my opinion its the VE SV6 auto as the best drivers car, its got a great gearbox and the sound of the tuned V6 is magnificent, the XR6's are great too just its the XR's better interior, VE better exterior, whatever choice u chose u will be on with a winner just dont get a VE Omega

You did very well to get a G6E on-road for just under $45K. Did you also test the Aurion?

No, I never even drove the Aurion because my neighbor has one and they are if not even uglier than the hideous VE inside. Plus I'm not into anything Japanese. Go and do yourself a favor and take the G6E for a spin, or if you live in Brisbane we should catch up for a drive and you can take mine for a test run. The new fords are SO user friendly. Everything about the V series Calais just about shat me to tears. The position of the cruise control, EVERYTHING on the ICC was in a PRICK of a position

aurion is built in melbourne, it's no more japanese than the commodore is chinese, actually its far superior to the VE i spend 2 weeks driving both around tasmania, and base model vs base model there is no comparison

The steering wheel i hated also, but the ONE thing that made my girlfriend and i just about run away from the dealership was the massive price tag they wanted for the V series Calais (with the options i wanted included). What a joke! What a joke... But the funniest part of that joke, is people spend the MONEY and buy these overpriced shitboxes. They dont look to bad from the outside, but its what inside that was the kill. The FG looks smooth and sleek yet sporty at the same time.

Picked up the keys to my FG XR6 this morning and literally had to force myself to park the car at the end of the day. What a brilliant machine! Gave my VE SV6 driving mate a run in it and he reckons as soon as he is able, he will trade his SV6 for an XR6. Coming from a die-hard Holden fan, then is a big confidence boost for Ford. Basically, the FG XR6 is a fantastic machine whilst the VE SV6 is cheap rubbish. That people pay good money for VE's says a lot about how stupid some Aussies are.

mate, i own a new G6E... i went to the holden dealership and drove the V series Calais it was going to cost me at LEAST $60,000 with what i wanted optioned on it, had a shit as gearbox in it 5 speed clunker. and it was so ugly and looked SO cheap inside the car the screen is down the bottom on the icc, (the icc is just dogshit altogether) and it just didnt feel right.

but the new ford on the otherhand, the new FG is just awesome they really did their homework the car is so user friendly big massive step from the BA/BF. the G6E is light years away from the V series calias. and got the G6E drive away for 44,900 12 months rego, ipod integration, sat nav. plus all your standard stuff like reverse camera premium sound ZF 6 speed auto ect. FG is shitloads better than the VE and to all that dont think so then you obviously have not driven the FG model.

Each to their own, I guess. I have mates that love their VE's and other that love their FG's. Personally, I will admit the VE's look more sporty on the outside - even if their appearance is a direct rip off of the BMW M5's. However, I maintain that the interior of the FG XR6 is streets ahead of the VE SV6.
Personally, I can't wait till Saturday when I pick up my FG XR6.

ie - Yes the Interior console of the FG XR6 is better than the VE SV6 but all other areas the VE Kills the FG, The VE may look eerily BMW like but thats like saying the new Jaguar XF looks too similar to Aston Martin. That is no bad thing

I test drove both a VE SV6 and a FG XR6 yesterday and I gotta say, the XR6 is the better car in every department - more grunt, better ride, vastly better interior (the inside of the VE looks like something deigned by Kia) and overall features. The FG XR6 is a car Aussie can be proud of. The VE SV6 is a car that makes me want to cringe with embarassment.
Needless to say, I happily put down a deposit on an XR6 and can't wait to pick it up.

hehe yeah i not as tall as some, i'm only 5"8 ish, not 100% sure, but yes it is a very nice car, i'm more than 80% a HOLDEN man but still appreciate that FORD do make a good car, as i've said to a friend that owns a Manual FG XR8 that the FG's are more well appointed than the VE although i have said to him the VE is by-far a much nicer car to drive and a much more aggressive and better looking car compared to the Commodore VZ let alone the FG models

the SV6 may have a "slightly" lower power count but the Holden is lighter and sounds like its getting flogged even standing still, cant say that about the bland ford now can u

I've driven an FG G6 (essentially the same car as the XR6). It's a far more well rounded package than the Commodore. The Falcon Inline 6 aces the Commodore's V6 in almost every way, as well.

It was a G6E, thinking back on it. It drove great, plenty of power, comfortable, good handling and quite refined. It also very easy to drive for such a big car. But if you're looking for something a little more subtle, definitely recommend the G6 over the XR6.

but apart from that i would def go for the beauty and elegance of the Calais V V6, i like it more than the SV6
