I agree that there were some instances of police brutality during the protests and the people certainly had/have a right to protest, but what their candidate (Mousavi) and his backer (Rafsanjani) were demanding was unnacceptable and illegal, namely the anulment of the election result.

Any statistical analysis of the results, the way they were counted and not being fed a truck-load of propaganda by CNN, Fox News, BBC et al. in the run up to the election, would lead any reasonable person to conclude Ahmadinejad won by a landslide. That's not me talking, those are American polling companies and US statistical academics.

It just so happens that Imam Khamene'i pressed Ahmadinejad to open an investigation and some prison officials, 2 if I recall accurately, have been sentenced to death for allowing torture. Of course the western media isn't interested in reporting that, OR US/British sponsored terror attacks against Iran.
