They surely don't....I remember back then when my father would take me to Best Buy, I would have to make a decision whether I wanted a new music cassette tape (lol), or a new Sega Genesis Cartridge...Believe it or not, I would chose the the tape. And heck, if I was lucky enough, I could get the CD ($25 for a new CD lol). Trying to keep up with music isn't as fun as it used to be back then.
