Your entire Panjsher population is not more than 50,000 people, but Afghans lost about 2-3 millions lives during the Russian invasion. Do you think it was Masood who was fighting the Russians in Panjsher and ''liberating'' his people that cost him 1.5 million lives as it says in this documentary?

It was the brave Pashtons who fought the Russians in Khost, Paktia, Kunar, Logar, Laghman, Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan etc etc that cost them millions of lives to defend and liberate Afghanistan.

@kid0147 Panjshir had 130,000 people during that time. The video does not state that 1.5 million Panjshiris died but instead that 1.5 million people in the whole of Afghanistan died. In the whole of Afghanistan Tajiks, Pashtuns, Hazara and others fought. Still, Massoud by many is considered the most capable of all the resistance fighters and he was the only major Afghan leader who actually always stayed inside Afghanistan during the war while others were directing their forces from safe haven.

@ChiroccoDocument The problem was that afghanistan was not liberated. As soon as the Soviets left everyone turned on each other. Massoud was one of the few (if not only) warlord who actually cared about the people and really tried to save the country from people like Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. I am not taking sides saying Pashtuns this or Tajiks that (lets forget about the ethnic differences for a second) and face facts. It seems to me that Masoud really tried to help/save the people of Afghanistan.

His mean base was Taliqaan City the capital of Takhar and whole Qataghan. And as Panjshery myself an tell you that most of his great fights was not in panjsher but in Taliqaan and Kunduz. refering the firts freed city Taliqaan durign Jihad

He never in his miserable life fought for the sake of Afghanistan or its people because he was the most racist and hypocrite person ever - he was an anti-Pashton - and without Pashtons Afghanistan is like lifeless.
