  • I like your playing, quite good dynamic and clear notes. I am learning this etude now, not very hard, but....

  • Brilliant, a great example of your mastery of the rest stroke!

  • u have no idea what this made for me.. there are some musical tunes out there that if you listen to them more than once you'll ruin it for yourself.. I think this was the perfect tune for in the perfect time for me even though it's the first time i listen to it!

  • I'm From Portugal I'm playing this music on my 4th year on guitar and you just give me a very good argument to study it more deep

    Thanks a lot

  • Nicely played, however I have one criticism - You need to work on improving tone production. You sounded twangy on the trebles. Incidentally I also have to work on this problem in my playing.

  • I noticed a slight pause at 2:14. But truly amazing!

  • Excellent playing. I like this piece very much. Thanks for posting

  • do you really need the long nails to play classical?

  • Thanks for posting this video.

    Nice and smooth playing.

    Very helpful to watch.

  • Sounds great, and you make it look so easy (but we know it isn't).

  • Excelente.

  • tell me pls 1:06 F# A D A or F# A C# A

  • Thank you, very good performance.(Brasil)

  • Your touch is wonderful.

  • low e is a little bit out of tune if you ask me but other than that very well played a beautiful piece

  • Excellent Performance, right now Iam practing this study.

    Greetings from Uruguay!!!

  • Wouaouw, thank you very much for this very nice moment! I'm learning this peace and it's hard! But I'll make it one day just like you do (I wish). I'll try to move my right hand to have a better sound, just like you do. Thank you again!

  • thank you for posting! Very well played!

  • Very nice song and very nice playing :)

    I love you Videos!

They help me a lot learning those songs !

    Great

    and awesome channel!

    Greetings and peace from Germany!

  • Really enjoy your playing. Thanks for posting; very therapeutic: like watching nature, drinking hot tea, or relaxing. Much appreciate it.

  • Quina composició mes bonica

  • Very nice! Excellent recording!

  • Beautiful study -one of my favourite by Carcassi- and great interpretation. Thanks!

  • Excellent, I guess I'm going to have to find my Carcassi book and brush up. I forgot how good that stuff can be. Gorgeous job.

  • Really loved that.

    thank you!

  • beutiful.. *-* *_*

  • Respectfull treatment of this wonderful Carcassi study!

    Thank you!

  • your performance is so beautiful, but at the same time you seem to have a great arrangement for recording. Can you tell me what mic you are using, and do you do any post performance edits? I dont think you do, but just asking for my own learning.

  • @sirajghosh Thank you for your comment. I Use the Zoom H2 digital recorder (great quality) and Audacity for basic editing, very easy and cheap setup.

    Best regards,

    Vabejas

  • @sirajghosh simply perfect

  • beautiful étude. bravo.

  • Very nice... well played... i have to study this etude book after i've finished Ferdinando Carruli's Etudes book..

  • emmm está apoyando la cuarta nota del arpeggio? no suena como que esté apoyando

  • magnifico..

  • Very nice romantic sound! thank you!

  • Holy crap, bar chord at 1:07 is hard!!!

  • Hey, no criticizing intended, really wondering, did you change the song for it to be easier to play, or is that really the real way to play it, with the classical technique and whatnot? Just asking because I'm starting classical guitar and I am trying to do everything right for a possible audition for xchool later on, so don't think I'm asking that in a doubting way or whatever :P

  • whatever play gane a lot when is played by you,I'm becoming a great fan of you, sorry for my english

  • Verry well and relaxing played!

  • is a great job dude you play really clean but in some parts i dont really hear what is the bass n the melodic line. no ofense but try to keep lower the bass, out of that great job 5 stars

  • That's perfect... good job!! I just think that maybe u should do it a bit faster... but I like it anyway ;)

  • Great job mate! I love this piece and you nailed the tone!.

  • Loved it, unlike some of the commenters here I had no problem at all with the tempo, and I thought the occassional slow-downs just made it sound more emotional.

I think towards the end you could work on the dynamic (it gets very dramatic, and then it ends sort of softly). Apart from that, I thought it was excellent.

  • I'd rather play this piece slower... only a bit more slower... this is the video I'm using to learn it so, it says a lot about it :)

  • I am learning this piece, and watching your video helped me with the hard parts. Thank you for your help and inspiration!

  • well done. sorry about my nitpicking but you didn't take care of every forte and piano like the "sf" at the end which goes into a "pp" :)

but as i said: well done

  • Lovely going for grade 5 its great to here this lovely piece played perfectly and clear picture

  • it would have been better if you played it faster. plus I didn`t much like the delays that you made between the chords, you shouldn`t do this mistake.

    but it`s good in overall.

  • There is no standard tempo marking for this study. It may be played at a nice walking pace and retain its musicality. So you are wrong on that score. I thought it was a charming performance.

  • alright how about the delays between the positions? does the score say that the player have to stop before when changing positions?

that's what I didn`t much like in his performance. I`d rather hear the note played impure but in the right beat.

  • It is true that there were a few breaks but I did not find to be so distracting. Technique is the ground a musician stands on, but it is not the sole focus. I am more offended by thoughtless performances than minor flaws. Consider the late Segovia performances. Some of them are just not all that great compared to his prime. But they are still lovely to hear. Please take no offense by my statements. It is You Tube after all. It's meant to be fun.

  • I thought his tempo was suitably moderate also had no issue with the slight pauses which if anything made it more graceful by creating breathing space. You evidently prefer a more mechanical interpretation.

  • the speed is andantino, so it's correct and the "delays" are composed by carcassi exactly like he is playing it

  • @slashhatim

i agree that a touch faster. and there shouldn't be a pause it should just be a retardando. it seemed that you just didn't remember the change fast enough on the C maj (IX) arpeggio. The piece should have momentum from one chord to the next.

and this is classical guitar - to anyone else who doesn't play and doesn't understand constructive criticism - TONE is everything.

  • sir, i have to say i came to think of you as my brouwer teacher... :) now i found out you are playing this one by carcassi as well. so i'll definitely have to thank you so much for your help!

    best regards,

    F.

  • That F# minor chord in the B section really kills me.

  • This might be crap but it worked for me: try metronome @ 60 clicks per note and work on the transition into the F# m chord.. over and over again. it's only a half bar so that part is easy, i found the important part was to get my thumb underneath the higher frets to support my 3 and 4 finger. This got every note ringing nicely. It is a bit of a reach though and my hand hurts a little bit by the time i'm ready to move to the next chord.

  • that was for Estonianwoodsman. thanks youtube

  • thanks, man. That part is pretty smooth now. I'm working on a sor chord study, and a Brouwer etude now. MY jury's coming up so i need to get them as smooth as possible.

  • Good performance!

  • Beautifully played - really great. Thanks!

  • Thanks alot I'll give it a try.

    Best Wishes

    Rob

  • Just the a note on that barre gives me trouble.

    Cheers

  • Wow!! 5 stars that was great, you have so much feeling with this piece. I'm working on this now, can play it all but have some problems on the barre part in the first section at the end. For some reason sometimes the notes come out a little dead no matter how hard I barre that section (the barre at 22sec on video) Just sometimes not real clear. any sug. or tricks to that barre?I think I have my elbow back enough and pulling down on it . lol.. oh well lots more pratice

    Cheers

  • Thank you!

Every piece has his hairy moments. Just play that bar seperately, let every note ring until you're comfortable, then do the sequence with one bar before the tricky one.

The trick with barre is not to press any harder but put your fingers better!

Hope it helps a bit, I'm not a teacher :))

    Regards,

    Jasper

  • @Vabejas It's great!

    Balázs

  • @Vabejas same here, i find that barre at 1:12 difficult, can't press down enough the 2nd& 3rd strings to ring out

  • @classicalRob1

Check out Kevin Gallagher's tips on barre. I found them very useful. Kevin is also an excellent classical guitarist.

  • Excellente performance!

  • Thank you!

    Regards,

    Vabejas

  • @Vabejas tell me pls 1:06 F# A D A or F# A C# A

  • Reasonable. Wrong time twice in the same way and the final decrease the time being the original version that does not exist.

  • :)

    Thanks, keep smiling!

    Vabejas

  • Bravo. I am learning this piece right now. Hope to get the same technical and emotional expertise in time. It is a nice piece to play isn't it? Peaceful and beautiful. You bring it to life. Thanks for the inspiration, and also the perfect view of how you are fingering it.

  • Thank you very much tbenkey!

    Much appreciated,

    Very best regards,

    Jasper

    Edu

  • Bravo! Five stars for sure!

  • Very well played. Have a beer. (and then play it with a little distortion perhaps)

  • I can say only one: perfect!! Etude played with big emotional involvement!!!

    5/5

  • Thanks! It's a very nice piece to play,

    Sincerely,

    Jasper

  • Normally, if I cannot pronounce a title or it has #?^* stuff in it, I will past it up. This time I thought, it's Jasper so what the heck and tried it. Wouldn't you know it...I liked it very much! Shoot....now I'll have to try the other #?^* stuff.....

  • congratulations!

  • Thank you very much Michel, you have a very nice channel!

    Jasper

  • very nice!

  • Gracias!!

  • Why do all people think the two lead notes

have to be that much accented. They do not form a melody. They are just the top notes of the arpeggios.

  • Hi Mr. Isosphere (funny name, especially after watching your video's!)

Interesting point, I'll stick to my interpretation, IMHO this piece sounds terribly bland when playing freestroke with just the accent on the bass.

    Danke für deine Reaktion.

    Vabejas

  • very nice played!..im working on this right now;D

  • Thank you Fredddyyoh,

Enjoy the piece,I still play it every day to warm up.

I will ask him, I will see him in one hour!:)

He's a busy man though, check out his YT page: Damguitar. He rocks!

    Jasper

  • Hi Jasper!

I like the tempo of this piece but I posted

a video response which is a much faster version

for those who care to see.

    You did really great!

    Mikkel

  • Hi Mikkel, thanks a lot,

I'm not very good at speed competitions!:)

    Regards,

    Jasper

  • Hey Jasper,

Thanks for taking a 'look'; it wasn't much of

a competition as nobody took part but I made

it for people to have fun with it.

    For ambiance,

    Mikkel

  • I'm really, really envious of your skill. Either you have a natural gift for the guitar, or you spend a lot of time getting each note polished to perfection--or both. I don't think I heard a flaw in that whole piece.

  • both liamstoaster, lot's of talent and working hard!:) just kidding,

    Thanks for your comment, appreciated!

    Schubert soon?

    Regards,

    Jasper

  • Hello Jasper my friend,

How are you these days, I must say that your technique is improving a lot.

You inspire me with this etude from Carcassi.

In my book from Armand Coeck this is rated 5th grade and it's on my favourites list for this schoolyear that's starts tonight.

I'm waiting for my new H2 these days and after some try outs of this new toy I will also post again.

    My regards an 5*

    Bjorn.

  • Hi Björn,

Thanks a lot for your nice comment and the stars,

The only reasonI can see it's 5th grade is the changing of position, since the arpeggio pattern is basic stuff!

Looking forward to some of your future recordings with the great H2! Have fun! You won't regret.

    Jasper

  • Fabulous, Jasper! Beautifully played. 5 stars.

    -Chris

  • Hi Tuffy,
