  • i love the powerful notes played by the violin

  • APPRENTICE!!!!!!!!! <3

  • @BurningBrightly I learned dutch and english at the same time growing up (my father was dutch, my mother american) and even though I have no accent, I still make that mistake from time to time

Meraviglia !!!!!!!!!!!

  • the sound is not on....:( but my absolute favorite and most beloved rendition of this stunning piece!

how can we get the sound back on? that would be divine! x

  • Nox Decious Theme Music! Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

  • @gurglelord Yes! The first picture in my head was him doing that evil walk of his.

  • You're Fired!

  • yo disfruto cuando nureyev entra con ese paso firme y seguro ,elegante y majestuoso al compas de la musica... grandioso

  • This is my invasion theme music!

  • that is the best dance ever.

  • i think of this really fat guy who just just came from McDonald's and is coming towards me,and i think "oh crap"

  • SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND!!!

  • This is in "101 Dalmatians", right? Creeps me out, hated Cruela De Vile as a kid.

  • this has got to be what inspired the imperial march from the star wars films

  • Something about knights dancing and or walking makes me feel on top. Like those old gladiator movies.

  • Saw this Nureyev/Fonteyn film verison in a cinema 1966, blew my mind. When Romeo-Nureyev fought Tybalt to the death, I really thought somone was gonna get hurt there on stage!

My first ballet, and not my last.

  • Isn't this Montagues and Capulets?

  • How beautyfull!

  • Viola d'amore...

    Where fantasies are born...

She felt soft inside trusting her destiny...

Only, the two of them can feel, read each other's thoughts...

Sensations, understanding, were completing each other...

She found a link to her desire and sense...

A voice to her own secrets...

    She found her…soul mate...

  • I dont know Prokofiev's works very much but doesnt it sound like Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries? Please enlight me...

  • Well ladies thats culture, not the apprentice (waste of time) its music how it used to be. Perhaps join the British Army and see what we are fighting for, music and culture like this., Not smack heads and uni slobs (tax doggers). WE WILL PROTECT THIS COUNTRIES CULTURE NO ONE ELSE.

  • Ah, the theme of the Apprentice.

  • I always think about dancing ghosts when I hear this.

  • No music on right channel :/

  • this is probably the single most badass song ever made

  • This isn't the whole act. There's a lot more to Dance of the Knights and it's a very long scene.

  • Elegant and somber, terrifying in a beautiful way. Bravo Prokofiev!

  • breath taking!

  • SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND!! SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND SUNDERLAND

  • I searched for this video because it is (very nicely!) used in the song Lords of Bedlam by Hollenthon: /watch?v=DymceY5CowE

  • To jest muzyka, a nie jakieś tam Gośki Andrzejewicz! Klasa, po prostu klasa i piękno! Prokofiew zmarł dokładnie tego dnia co Stalin. Taka muzyka zyska wieczność...

  • Dark.... very dark...

  • I'm meant to be analysing this for a music class - had no idea what it was, looked it up here, and cracked up laughing - thank you, Muse, for introducing me to the world of classical! Turns out I know this after all ;P

  • Prokofiev is an amazing composer, a genius

  • the costumes and music for this are so great. I wish there were an actual ball like this you could attend, complete with mass organized choreography

  • gr8!!!

  • grandioso

  • I still love this. The heavily painted faces, the horrorshow brides...

  • The music of Prokofiev is not from this world, its outstanding, awesome and göttlich...

  • Well said, sethonevoice! The word "göttlich" expresses it perfectly. There isn't a word in English that would put it nearly so well.

  • Haha, Necrophagist, a Technical Death Metal band plays this piece, within the last 30 or so seconds of their song, its so sick....

  • this is so good.

I love the costume, and the set is so awesome

  • MUSE!

    /watch?v=q_6UYhfXI6s

  • I listen to this and I see Stalin.

  • Do you think Prokofiev was trying to portray evil when he wrote it, bearmare?

  • Hard to say. Producers of various programs about Stalin and the USSR have used this music as their theme, so it was obvious to them that the music conveys a sense of foreboding and menace. If it was Prokofiev's intense to communicate the legacy of Stalin terror via music, he succeeded brilliantly, and under Stalin's nose.

  • @bearmare producers do not make the truth is merely their interpretation. With all due respect to you I disagree . For me this music encourage the feelings and... well i dont speak to much English and is very hard to me to explain it.

  • @bearmare I think he did portray the Stalinist terror - in his 6th Symphony. In the last movement, sounds of public rejoicing are repeatedly interrupted by the noise of tramping feet. The rejoicing is cut off abruptly and replaced by a sorrowful theme from the first movement. A moment of utter desolation ensues, broken by an anguished outcry from full orchestra, then the tramping feet return, fortissimo, crushing the life out of everything. A truly terrifying ending to one of his greatest works.

  • Sheesh. Got goosebumps there. Prokofiev is great.

  • The audio is low-quality, but the video is so macabre.

  • This is terrifying and grand.

  • I like your style Zack...

  • PROKOFIEV!!!

  • the AUDIO sucks !!!!

  • amazing. I would really like to see it in live...

  • Me eriza...es danza, es teatro, es literatura, es música rusa, es Arte!!!

  • I have no idea how long I've been looking for this music.. Oh wait yes I do. Since March 2007 after watching Ballet Hoo: Ballet Changed My Life.

  • me encanta la melodia

  • for sure they are dude!they are amazing

  • ONLY ASH REMAINS!

  • Haha same...

    Necrophagist are the best!

  • what's a 'necrophagist'?

  • a band. Listen to the last 30 seconds of their song "Only Ash Remains."

  • FUNNY, there is no sound on the last 30 sec. good joke -.-'

  • I'm not joking... it starts at 3:38 to be exact.

  • 3:38

  • it's a band. i think the genre is "death metal."

  • Absolutely mesmerizing!! 10/10

  • I wonder how many of them are still alive?

  • haaaawayayayayyy Sunlun!

  • such a shame everyone thinks of muse's h.a.a.r.p when they here this. its sergei prokofiev everybody, get some of that stuff in your music players

  • Well, it already is isn't it. It's not like muse remixed it or anything.

  • Know this song from the movie Caligula ;)

    Interesting movie BTW... =P

All the sexscenes and torcheringscenes =P

  • Makes me think of wars and battles in history.

  • Sunderland Sunderland Sunderland

  • YOU ARE FIREDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!

  • Caligula!!!

  • The music is great... Muse (Y)

  • Composed in 1935 by Prokofiev for The Donald, NOT!

  • @plumbago I think you'll find he means the English version of the Apprentice. Please don't act like a smartarse, because you aren't one.

  • @plumbago What kind of a lame excuse for being a douche is that?

  • @plumbago okaii what?

In the UK (as i would know, i'm scottish) There is a tv show called "The apprentice" and this song is used as the theme..nobody meant anything by saying you had the wrong facts....both are right so why doesnt everyone shut up about it?

  • @plumbago You just fail , you blocked him because you lost and everybody voted that down

  • @plumbago no your a unintelligent swine! i don't care if u block me cause u are a total nerd.

  • @hotelmario510 He's an arse, not a smart one.

Saw this by Nuryev etc, and it wasn't as well done as this.

  • @uredead I dont know why your comment has so many dislikes cause your right it is the theme to the english version of the apprentice i dont know if its the same as the others but is the english version!

  • Sanxion..... 1986.... the good old days.......

  • I'm doing a ballet dance to this peice

i really like this music to dance to. =)

  • @TakuMcShizzles me too! =)

  • @TakuMcShizzles me too lol

  • brilliant

  • i always think of like the soviet army or russian army when i hear thsis.

  • I like the music, but not the dance itself.

  • Yey!!! The apprentice music!!

    Hahahaha

  • lol so much for it being written in the 1930s. Gotta love this song. Charles Lindberg (trombone) makes a great rendition of this piece. This piece was a great choice for the apprentice =^_^=

  • one of the most depressing songs for me

  • and you all like this

  • Arrepios!!! Acho essa música maravilhosa!!

Sempre lembro do Calígula quando ouço, mas é linda!

  • Prokofiev is brilliant.

  • I always think of Dracula when I hear this.

  • I always think of Kenny vs. Spenny haha

I knew it before that but they used it so much and it worked so well that I now associate it with that.

  • lol, yeah i heard it there

  • beautiful!!

  • This production looks good, but it is sad how people have forgotten that he blatantly plagiarised the John Cranko version - a big drama back when it happened.

  • Listen to Noisuf-X - Dance of the Knights

  • ive heard of this song but i dont know where i heard it from. is this song from the Romeo and Juliet Ballet?

  • yes it is *Dance of the Knights*

  • Yes it is and you might of heard it on "the apprentice"

  • Tritone! ^___^

  • Some of the best music is done in the "DEVIL'S CHORD"!

  • the costumes and the music are amazing, but I think John Cranko's choreography fits better,

    it's more courtly

  • Boys in tights are always scary!!!

  • Beautiful

    Sounds formidable

  • sunderland tune :P fukin class man

    haway the lads

    safc FTM

  • i think i prefer this to Nureyev's choreo version. Amazing music. amazing choreo, I'd love to see it performed again.

  • i love this music, it has a dangerous and seduction tone, amazing and really dramatic

  • This is my favourite moment in the ballet... which is an exquisite piece from the beginning to the end. McMillan did a great job and I have to say that more than anywhere else it is here that the costumes of Sir Nicolas Georgiadis seem to be part of the choreography. An inspired combination of geniuses throughout this historic production. Thank God for the filming of it!

  • safc tune amazing

  • is that the capulats or the montagues?

  • Montagues and Capulets

  • how can the capulets and the montagues be dancing and not fighting? they dont even look at one another, shouldnt the dance display some kind of rivalry?

  • @StoneMaestro those are the capulets, it's their ball (I think actually count paris' ball but not so sure), the montagues(including Romeo) are under a disguise (hence their masks) so unrecognizable, if I remember correctly the left one = count paris (who wants to marry Juliet), the middle guy in front = juliet's father and the right one is tybalt (juliet's nephew) but don't shoot me if I'm not correct :P

  • @BurningBrightly tybalt is juliet's cousin

  • @yanisericfilm sorry sorry I always make mistakes with the cousin and nephew/niece *my mistake* I was born in the Netherlands so still making some mistakes with mah English :P in the Dutch language you use the same word for cousin and nephew.

  • haway the laaaaaaaaads!!!!!

  • i love when Crashdïet use this for the intro to their concert....P

  • HAWAY THE LADS.FTM
