  • used to like rallycross at brands mostly cos im in walking distance but a good circuit. gotta love that compressor surge chirrup, but arent they restricted to 500 or so hp? that hydrex rs200 was 840 at one point i think.

  • Yeah, thats right, the Supercars are restricted to 550 BHP (or thereabouts) by means of a restrictor in the turbocharger - as you say though, most of them are capable of running much more!

If you liked rallycross at Brands I can't recommend Lydden enough. Its not too far to drive (assuming you still live near Brands) and its one of the best circuits for spectators I've been to.

  • @agentolshki that sound, like birds singin, breakes or turbo?

  • @MrhdiR Its the turbo. These cars run with a dump valve (that would counteract the effect of the ALS) so, when off throttle, air flows backwards through the compressor section of the turbo. The reverse flow of air over the compressor blades causes the "twittering" sound you can hear.

  • @tbtstt thanks

  • @MrhdiR No worries! Just realised I typed the wrong thing above. I meant to say these cars run WITHOUT a dump valve, not with!

  • I went to this one and round one....i had never been to a rally cross meet before but bnow i am totally hooked!

  • Now you see why you need to miss BSB at Brands and go to Lydden instead...

...ERC there is going to be awesome!

  • deffinately gonna go....cant wait!
