The Monkees were great. Their TV show was so off the cuff...! In one episode, they were being held by the "bad guys" and one bad guy says, "Okay, boys, I want you all to talk turkey!" Well, you can guess what they all did...Then they'd get loose and a song would break out! It was like a comedic Infomercial to plug their latest songs! But it was great!
@Thadesgal Whats so awsome about the monkeys is that they spawned so much. They had their own show and now adays look how many boy band shows there are.
@prcoolsoccer actualy they couldnt be talking about John Lennon and "Rocky Racoon" since this song was released in 1966 and "Rocky Racoon" wasnt out until 1968. from what i understand they were refering to John London, a friend of Nesmith's who had at that time had purchased a racoon.i could be wrong though.
@TonyT074 Oh wow, I always thought he was talking about John Lennon and 'Rocky Racoon' I never knew they were talking about a friend because since the Monkees are usually tied together with the Beatles and all. Thanks for my correction my friend =)
@TonyT074 no this couldnt have come out in 66 this is from the last monkees album released before they regrouped back in the mid 80s this song came out in like 72 or 73
Remember hearing this song about a year ago when my sister bought the 2 tv series on dvd and this song was one of the episodes. It's one of my favourite songs by the band as it makes me laugh so much. Oh yea, and...
@catperson1966 You are correct. *hugs* Fuck the haters here. Yea you spelled the Beatles wrong but if the people here wanna whine that they don't agree they should take it onto a beatles song comments page. Otherwise shut their traps and get away from the Monkees
Thank you so much for putting this on! I loved this song when I was a kid! I've been trying to sing it to my kids, but could not remember all of the words. What a fun blast from the past!
