  • The benchmark by which all singers alive are judged, and they are found wanting, no finer female voice alive today, period.

  • Wow! Patty looks goegeous in this video. What a great duet.

  • Two Of The Best Harmony Singers EVER

  • the best in country music

  • love the way Vince, a gentle man he is, put that guitar by his side when the woman is approaching

  • Oh his eyes are so gorgeous!!!!!

  • Two of my favorites and Vince sure could eat crackers anywhere with me..LOL

  • Two giants in country music..They look so good and sound so good together.

  • "What will it say, on your tombstone" - harmonies so powerful the audience claps. Come back again and again waiting for these two to mess up anywhere in a difficult group of passages. They never do! The best.

  • Ladies and gentleman, this is country music at its finest. My hat is off to them both. I posted a reply. I didn't have Patty to sing back up so I did it myself. See what you think. Thanks Sherrill

  • they r both so good!

  • Nobody does it better than Vince & Patty

  • Vince Gill in his prime.

  • Perfect harmonies!

  • Note to Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Nettles....THIS IS A COUNTRY MUSIC DUET!

  • Got goosebumps the second Patty started singing. God how I miss the 90's country music sound. These are two of the very best.

  • You just can't find this quality of entertainment with todays CM. They are the best of the best!

  • They are the sole reason I returned to country music. Beautiful, talendetd, harmonic, lovely performance. Today I have to listen to them, because all the crap that's come out the last decade makes me sad and sorry. They're trying to force CM into the standard "pop" package and then I say - F...ck you!

  • Patty's harmony made "Pocket Full of Gold", "When I call your name", AND "Go Rest High on the Mountain" the hits they were!

  • Such talented singers, sing with feelings !

  • Two unique voices,Patty and Vince are just awesome as a duet. Thanks for the pleasure.

  • I remember when I was living in Nashville John Hughey would come in and play pedal steel for fun. Usually at Legends. He would just sit in on the other guys steel for a set. I was awstruck. Especially when I figured out who he actually was. i gave the singer a 10 dollar bill and he let me do a couple while Mr. Hughey was playing, wow what a day.

  • probably the best vince gill song ever, but at the same time he is one of the best ballad writer/singers ever.

  • The most awesome duo ever. The two of them were made for each other.

  • Is there any duo with a better sound than Vince Gill and Patti Loveless?

  • oh what a great vocals. Beautiful...... I still love you Vince

  • THE THING I LIKED ABOUT THAT SONG THE RICH MAN MIGHT NOT HAVE EVER GOT KILLED. HE LEFT THAT OPEN.

  • I really enjoy both of these artists. They are both outstanding!

  • As you watch this video look closely at Vinny at about 1:37 as the steel player plays a fill. That steel player was the late "Papa" John Hughey who had been with Conway Twitty for many years. After Conway passed Vinny picked him up. Vinny wrote several songs that would allow John to "run with it as only he could" to quote Vinny. That pairing set Vince Gill's signature sound. Papa John will be sadly missed by country music fans worldwide; especially steel pickers like me.

  • @pro3tlb Hey, thanks for the background info on Papa John Hughey with Twitty and Vince Gill. Love learning more about the great players that we tend to forget about while being stunned by the jaw dropping vocal talent. That sure is a "crying" sound he wrings out of the steel.

  • They enjoy singing together almost as much as I enjoy listening to them. "what will it say, on your tombstone?" Great song.

  • I've said it before, I'll say it again... Wow. They sound so beautiful together.

  • It was nice to see them respond to the audience's spontaneous applause! Just great together, such great harmony! Fantastic!

  • Vince and Patti-no better harmonies since Buckingham/Nicks

  • @sm6161 You sure got that right!

  • Patty Loveless is a HOT little mink!!!

  • Great job! Thanks. Saw them in Winston -Salem and was the best concert I ever saw. Saw Patty 9 times over the years. Have all her stuff. Never seen this performance--may have forgot it though. Always thought they had love between them.

  • These voices blend perfectly together

  • Totally melted:-)

  • Two of the best!!!!

  • i think vince should have married pattie lol they are great together.............:)

  • yea amy grant just an my cup of tea

  • any thing Vince Gill sings I just love...He sure has a nice voice.

  • she's a shy girl

  • LOL. If they had put Patty any farther back on the stage she would have been behind the curtain. I love these two.

  • @TENNsourmash Yeah, that doesn't look very good. 2 pretty good vocalists right there!

  • She needs to come and stand right beside him, she sure can sing right with him!!

  • fantastick hehehe

  • Like most of YouTube, you have to take what you can get. Though the audio is fluttery, this video brought back one of my all time favorite moments in country music.

  • though the dogs bark... the country must go on...

  • wow, I love them both...

  • WOW!

  • Wish Patty and Vince would make an album covering all the old country duets. Course todays country radio wouldn't play it.

  • Today's new country sucks!

  • though dogs bark, country music must go on...

  • I agree...used to be so good.

  • Very awesome and brings back many good memories for me. Thank You for posting this one.

  • Vince and Patty together with John Hughey on steel was stone cold pure country.....too bad those days are long gone.

  • Sure sound great together..Don't get any better than this..Thanks for posting this.

  • A match made in heaven --but never made official. You can tell how smitten they are with each other. I saw them in Winston-Salem in 1994 and they were awesome-Vince played -it seemed all night. Patty glowed around Vince. She was my number one girl for many years.

  • Thanks thanks!!!!!!!

A request: if you have the video of patty and vince doing"when I called your name" Please post--thanks!!

  • Vince Gill is the epitomy of everything I have ever wanted in a man. Too bad I was born 20 years too late and never met him.

  • I can say the same for Patty, except maybe 8 years too late. Haha. Plus, I would need a voice like Vince's which is near impossible. Listen to the crowd reaction. They are the best.

  • Vince has the prettiest eyelashes know to men...or women! Notice how at 1:35 he ducks behind the mike and gives a shy little grin. Then when Patty comes up behind him ,Vince moves his guitar over his shoulder and draws Patty close to him! What a great-looking couple. They have great chemistry together! A great song and great job!

    \

  • you mean at 2:45! LOL!!! just clearing that up cuz i was confused! LOL!!!

  • Wow..what a treasure!...Vince has such a golden voice and Patty has the ultimate Lonesome bluegrass voice...seperately they are awesome...but together they are Gods gift to us....thanks so much for the post!

  • This video is a little rough and the other version is a little choppy. It doesn't matter to me. When you see either version or any song they do together you realize just how great they are. I am biased because I love Patty, but they are there with the greatest ever. Certainly they are the last great duo to come out of Nashville. I can't see that there will be any more.

  • i agree 100%.I don,t think anyone can fill their shoes.

  • thanks for posting this. one of my favorites. great great song, and beautiful harmony. thats what i call country music.
