Great cost saving idea , my mate has made a few longer ones for standing, I have made a small bipod version and an midsize version, both for under £5 awesome
yes thats what i need im a squirrel hunter n the states (oklahoma) and i like to put my back against the tree but then i had no rests that is until now thnx u make us all better hunters good job
Thanks for posting this, I never even thought about them until i watched your videos and saw how stable it makes your aim, I will be making some this weekend!
@roadrager71 If you know someone who has an old bicycle or motor bike iner tube you could cut 1/2 inch off the end to make a good rubber band like i did, or you could go for a rubber Oring from a hardwear store but it might not be just as stretchy.
Well I went to B and Q last night bought 2 of the smaller canes and nocked up a set of shooting sticks in no time. I'll be out tomorrow evening to test them out. Top tip and keep the videos comming.
Thanks for the great video! I bought a couple of those stakes yesterday and actually had a couple of golf grips I had removed from some re-gripped clubs and used those in place of the tape. They look and work great. Thanks again for all the great videos and information.
@redneckoutdoors14 Yes i know thanks as i supplied the video to him and a few others as i would write an odd article for the Airgun Shooter magazine on DIY projects.
hi just saying thanks, i made myself a set of your shooting sticks and they work great. Its very helpful getting a few tips from someone who knows what they are talking about.. Keep up the great work !!!!!!!!
hi just saying thanks, i made myself a set of your shooting sticks and they work great. Its very halpfull getting a few tips from someone who knows what they are talking about.. Keep up the great work !!!!!!!!
I just made a set of these today; saved me about £20 over buying a ready made set from ebay so thank you! They're bloody good too, they actually feel better than the Harris bipod I've previously been using in the sitting position as I can adjust the height I'm shooting at far quicker.
my grandfather showed me how to prepare baked rabbit while camping wrapped in leafs and then a coat of mud then baked in a hot rock pit. it was so delicious i can still remember that one a great way to cook while camping.
@Paganwarrior2000 sure wish i knew what a DIY was i am not into short cuts so tell me straight out what it means and maybe i can help thanks for the interest. oh by the way BBQ rabbit is great to if you cook it over water that is sat on the coals it leaves nice and juicy but fully cooked great stuff.
@HuntersVermin ok thanks for the heads up.. being raised in michigan on a farm we ate a lot of game so i was well prepaired for hunting in my later years and the preperation of game for eating. so many diffrent ways of cooking game and most of them are great. one of my favorits is chicken fried squrriel it just cant be beat except for a bear roast now your talking great food.. have a good day and look at how many ways there is to prepair food
@RichardOhKaNoi Yum yum, rabbit and wood pigeon are about the only wild game i have cooked so far but i do intend to try squirrel some time but there isn't too many about my shoot.
@HuntersVermin well you got one up on me i have never had wood pigeon but i have had a lot of squab used to catch them in the barn in the spring time wait until they got a full set of feathers then snag them. grandma's squab pie simply mouth watering deliceious. oh and squirfles i found best are country squirrls dont get city squirrls full of nastys. and chicken fry them save the brains for some of the creol cooking gumbo or other type of cajun cooking.
@HuntersVermin well i have eaten a bit of dove in my life i like the breast but here in the us there is a large variaty of dove the ones from arizona have a sage tayste to them and the ones from florida have a dry tayste but the ones from northern california are the best i think real juicy. i think that i could sit down and eat about a dozen of them ha ha
@HuntersVermin no its not that. i am 65 years old and i have lived in those places so i hunted in a lot of them over the years. i dont get out much any more but i do like the tayste of wild game over store bought stuff.
@RichardOhKaNoi Ah i see, sorry to hear that you don't get out to enjoy hunting much any more but you must have hunted in a lot of different places over the years.
@HuntersVermin i have been very lucky in that i was in the militairy for 20 years and had a chance to hunt in diffrent countries, shot some mighty fine phesent in korea and went giant monator lizzard and monkey hunting in the philippines. in there language it is called bayawak and maching there are some videos about bayawak on you tube actally they are good eating. see the videos
@Paganwarrior2000 wish i had some videos but there are good ones out there anyway. now the recipe that was passed down from my gradfather was for rabbit..baked in mud... after skinning the rabbit save the heart kidneys and liver cook them inside of the rabbit. use a rub (what ever you like) but i like a bit of black pepper salt cajun spice (hard to get in the UK but it is great) tripple wrap it in large leaves cake in a 1 inch layer of mud and bake in a hot stone pit for 2 or 2 1/2 hours great
@RichardOhKaNoi Why thank you kind sir! I hope to try this soon on some local bunnies! Right now I'm fixed on coyotes though, they're becoming quite the nuisance. Unfortunately, I doubt I will find my current choice of quarry edible...
@Paganwarrior2000 not unless you are really hungry. i have heard that the azul indians used to eat coyotes in some of their ceramonies but i dont put much faith in what i hear... take that with a grain of salt. well enjoy your hunt. got lots of those critters in texas
@Paganwarrior2000 now fpr tthose who are into big game hunting forget africa a big rip off and it will cost about $35,000 just for starters. now in the philippines for less than $2,000 and that includes air fair and hotels you can hunt wild tamaraw's or water buffalo. and there are some heck there are a lot of nice side bennifits for going to the P.I. we call them LBFM-PBR ask a sailor what that means you will love it.
i love hunting rabbits. the cotton tails i like to pan fry but the jack rabbits i like to stew. i guess you dont have any jack rabbits in the UK but believe me they are good eating if prepared correctly. i use the fir for various things gloves. hats, hand muffs and dog trainer aids. that's why head shots are so important for me so i wont ruin the pelt. oh i have been to the UK many times and i was just wondering what is your accent. thanks for the good video
@RichardOhKaNoi Hi ya, i'm from Northern Ireland, thats were i get my accent. No we don't have any jack rabbits in the UK but i think that they are very similar to the hare that we do have. Thanks for the nice comment.
@filoIII No, Not if you set your gun directly onto the sticks, as setting spring guns onto a hard surface will only make them jump. But if you use the sticks to rest the back of your hand on, and rest the gun in the pam of your hand, it should work.
Very good video again, i use these green sticks but not the way you have shown but very similar and they work so well even on my centrefire rifle and rimfires.
awsome , ill be making me sel a set of them, thanks, great vids by the way, keep em coming, im hopefully getting me sel a bsa super 10 carbine , i notice u use one, i was looking at a few vids on utube about them to get a bit of info on them, thats how i found yours, glad i did, handy sticks them mate, hahaha, cheers
Went to B&Q today and got 2 x 1.8m garden stakes and a 1m length of pipe insulation plus an older inner tube and will be making mine tomorrow - thanks for the idea which is simple and brilliant.
@codyarob Hi ya, you don't really need a hide for rabbits, just sit down with your back up against a tree or bush down wind and with in range of where you expect the rabbits to come out at. So long as you sit still and stay quite the rabbits shouldn't notice you, Shoot for the head and leave them where they fall so you don't disturb any other rabbits that might come out.
no way ur in airgun shooter with these arent u i thought id seen it somewer before hahaha!! good vids aswel :) do u hav any other articles coming up in magazines?

@Plorticus Yeah the mag printed the stand up version, but these are a lot easier to make, and i find them handyer. Glad they have came in useful for you.
Another superbly done vid.............I have noticed in the garden centre the price of these canes have gone up ....probably due to people buying and making shooting sticks ....:O) lol
