  • Sheesh, how many body doubles did this guy have?

  • I understand you had to remove the normal soundtrack, but why did you replace it with this grungy shit?

  • what's the name of the song??

  • gasoline

  • Seether - Gasoline

  • why did you remove the song

  • Pity you had to remove the original track. This used to be my fav trick of his just because of the song!!! But you did pick a good replacement song! Seether is awesome!

  • WTF HAPPEND TO THE PUPPET BOY SONG?!?!? Dont tell me YouTube made you remove it D:

  • Oh, and what's the name of the song. I kinda like it.

  • I just got to see Rudy Coby live at the Valleyfair theme park in Minnesota. He did a few small bits with the chainsaw and closed with his Puppet Boy act. Good stuff!

  • samehere in fact just yesterday

  • Great act. Nice to see good specialty acts come back. And about time too. Lay in a new track on this one it becomes a stunner for sure. Love to be in the audience when this is done to hear the reactions. Wonderful. Keep it up.

  • Yeah why did the music get changed. It's kinda hard to find Devo's Puppet Boy in the first place.

  • Sorry, Warner filed a copyright claim on the video-- So I had to remove the audio track or take the video down entirely.

  • Oh geez, not again, Warner is starting to make me sick lately, they're taking like everything Devo off of youtube.

    Grrrrrr

  • Why'd you change the music!!!!

  • This is really quite something amazing, what I want to know is where small puppet boy goes after the box explodes.

  • anyone notice that the strings are attached to a crucifix?

  • Pretty standard controller for a marionette

  • Yeah, the shape of the controller of marionettes is almost always a cross.

It isn't a crucifix because a crucifix has to have Jesus on it, otherwise it's just a cross.

  • I saw this illusion on France 2 TV New year night 2008/2009. I was fantastic and I am so pese that I have taped it on VCR. Would much prefer to buy a DVD though. RC was wearing an erotic shiny outfit, so French....

  • Damn...I want this Song o_O

Love his tricks. I can only speculate off how they are beeing made. Better then David Copperfield ;)

  • you can get it- It's "Puppet Boy" by Devo

  • Oh, thank you! :D

  • I think that this is one of the most cleverest magic tricks that I have ever seen. It was very imaginative and Rudy Coby has always been one of my favorite magicians - it's too bad that he retired.

  • He's coming out of retirement, btw.

  • Can't be soon enough for me. Coby is fucking amazing.

  • i love his tricks XD

  • at 3:06 the head comes off befor he cuts it

  • why can't you people just enjoy the trick and let it be...if you think you've figured out the trick, great for you, have a cookie on me. But don't spout off you theories for the whole world to read. A fake theory is just as bad a a real one and damages the art as a whole. You people make me angry! Having worked the Rudy Coby show for years, you all got it wrong on how he does all his tricks. Maybe you should try studying the art of Magic and Illusion before you spout your mouths. Jonathon

  • Thanks for posting. Rudy was one of the greats! Talented and entertaining. Haven't seen him for awhile.

  • thanks for posting.. this guy was one of the most talented and entertaining...

  • there is a performer in the box.

when rudy runs out of site, another performer comes out with the fake head to works the controls. rudy then puts on a duplicate puppet costume and when the performer puppet goes behind the box, rudy comes out.

  • AWESOME!

  • i have a theory that he is really a twin. it's the only thing that makes sense in some tricks.

  • this is simple to do n no twins

  • BE666, if you're right, he must go through a lot of doubles since he chops off their heads!

  • It's a fake head. Tool.

  • Did you really think I was serious?

P.S calling someone a tool. The weakest insult ever

  • My experience with Youtube shows that almost everyone who comments on here is an idiot. An example being how BE666 has -3 Thumbs for just saying how the trick is done.

    Regardless, sorry I misjudged you.

  • That's okay :)

  • Wow, he's really good!

  • this is absoltely amazing! I love Rudy Coby!

  • That is one amazing act, I saw it years ago and I've never forgotten it. I don't know how they fit the full-sized puppet into the box when you could see clearly underneath it. I have to say though, I remembered all the music being more intense like at the very end, rather than that 80's pop-style. Probably just me misremembering it.

  • This is one of my favorite acts... Thank you so much for uploading it!

I grew up with Rudy Coby's magic and even to this day I still love it! He's been such an influence... I still treasure the autograph I have from him from when my dad met him (at the courthouse where OJ's murder trial was being held no less!). He signed a picture I'd drawn of him when I was 6 and I got a copy of his comic 'Labman' too. *siiigh*

Does anyone know if he's still a consultant for Marilyn Manson?

  • In Manson's Last Tour before Twiggy and him had a reunion, Manson during the song "Heart-Shaped Glasses" used one of Rudy's tricks where the mechanical pair of legs made to look human walk on stage with a cart, it had the head of his new girl friend, he would then cut it off and sing to it.

  • It's actually pretty simple. When Rudy pulls that rope, he runs off the stage with it, then his double comes on stage instead (you can't tell the difference because of the mask).

Then Rudy quickly changes into an identical puppet costume offstage. As the puppet grabs the machete and runs behinds the boxes, Rudy quickly replaces him.

and the little puppet dancing in the box is the first puppet guy controlling him.

  • Why does Rudy Coby look a lot like Ricky Martin?

  • where is rudy coby???!!!

    where has he gone?

  • As a friend of Rudy, I can tell you that he is safe and if you go to the Marlyn Manson shows...You'll see Rudy.

  • Your comment seriously begs more questions. Whats he doing in the show?

  • I saw Rudy Coby when I was very young at the Gem Theatre in Detroit in the mid-90s. He was fantastic. He performed this and everyone went nuts. He had a juggler named Dan and an amusing keyboardist named Steve Altman with him. Great show.

  • This is the best use of the Dollhouse illusion that I've ever seen.

  • for the longest time i cant figure out how the hell he got into that damn suit. Still cant

  • That puppet boy was creepy.

  • I just watched this again on tape and came online to see what there was to dig up. Glad to see these videos have a digital home. Great stuff. I remember being so mesmerized by the show and watching it over and over.

  • The James Bond of Magic!

  • He truly is the coolest magician on earth!!

  • try to post the one where he shows that spinning black and white wheel that you stare at.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I watched this all the time when I taped it back in 95'

  • Yeah me too! And I just recently remembered this by listening to DEVO's puppet boy! hehe

  • genius
