I didnt like the stormcloak ending to the war, they basiclly throw every reason for why it was a bad idea to join the stormcloaks in your face at the end.
Imperials: The only force that can stand against the dominion (thalmor), want to unite everyone under one banner.
Stormcloaks: Hate anyone who isnt a nord, want skyrim for themselves, dont really have a real chance of fighting the dominion (the dominion wants the stormcloaks to win so they can take over skyrim easily).
1. Imperials and Stormcloaks stop fighting each other.
2. They continue life as normal, rebuild society and contribute to the Empire's economy and army.
3. Eventually after assembling the armed forces of Skyrim, Cyrodiil, High Rock and Hammerfell, and with the Dragonborn's help, they work together to defeat the Thalmor.
4. Thalmor are defeated.
5. Empire leaves Skyrim and elects a new Emperor.
6. Jarls of Skyrim assemble a moot to elect a High King.
Europe is the continent mother of civilization. America has a history too short and weak to understand why Europeans built empires fought for freedom and land and provided the greatest heroes. Americans can not understand our inclination to monarchy as long as they have not experienced a true leader and felt like a king, only corrupt bitterness of a republic without a normal value. For this reason you can not understand this game, Stormcloacks are right and not rotten empire of corruption.
There's a book in the game, the bear of markarth I think, that talks about when Ulfric retook the city after the great war. The guy was pretty ruthless according to it. Had a ton of people executed and stuff.
The Nords fought for the empire in the Great War and got slaughtered by the thousands for the Empire, and what does the empire do? ban the worship of Talos, The Nord who became a Divine
the Empire was always apart of Skyrim. Skyrim does not want to be a part of a Corupt Goverment ruled by the Aldmeri Dominion. Skyrim does not want to lose Talos.
The reason the empire is Invading Skyrim now is because of the thalmor, who want to outlaw talos' worship. The stormcloaks Just want to keep their Nord Traditions.

@capperz412 I wouldn't go as far as to say they're "ruining" it, they are actually helping the sales. They might make you choke them in a discussion about Skyrim, when seeing how superficial they treat it, sure, but they're not ruining anything... The series are going to keep their focus on the lore. That's why I decided to play Morrowind and Oblivion now, before Skyrim, for the love of the lore, and I had to resist all this Skyrim hype and gameplays.. But still, I plan on doing it..
@bigsteamfan Fair point. The newfags have brought a helluva lotta success and publicity for the series. But I still don't want Skyrim to lose its immersive touch and deep progressive lore. I fucking love The Elder Scrolls lol Morrowind and Oblivion are both absoloutely amazing games, and so is Skyrim. Daggerfall is worth playing as well if you can get into that retro RPG style (which I struggle with lol).

@Rodshark75 I think the Imperials had no choice considering their position. You know that quote "What the Stormcloaks like to forget is that the Empire is the one keeping the Dominion out of Skyrim". They have to accept some terms unless they want to be under Elven control. They might have a decent reason but it would be stupid to challenge the Empire. Besides, what if Talos wasn't a Nord, they couldn't give a fuck. Nords only want Nords in Skyrim.

But that's one of the things I love about the game, both sides are right and wrong to a degree and no one is all good or all bad... just shades of grey
@Rodshark75 And also, one of the main reasons that they banned Talos worship is because he is a warrior god. Banning him and allowing the elves to witch-hunt anyone worshipping him is basically pulling out the nords "claws" and making them more docile and easier to conquer later (kinda like what Christianity did to the Vikings).
The elves are just biding their time, weakening the empire further and helping it crumble so they can conquer it later.

If they truly want Man over Mer then why not defeat the Dominion, if possible, then continure to worship Talos. Guys the empire had to sign the treaty because if not the thalmor would've destroyed mankind. Also the empire doesn't like the thalmor if you listen to general tulluis at the end of the war if you pick imperials he says the treaty might end. The great war is not over this its just a truce the banning of talos and the sequels of the white gold concordat are just the beginning, the prelude of what will happen if the thalmor succeed with their onslaught... there is not time for civil wars and internal fights.
Skyrim needs the empire as much the empire needs Skyrim, thats true when the aldmeri dominion attacks again all the nations and lands of tamriel needs to be united as one, or all the humans shall perish to the elves nazi onslaught, the stormcloaks rebellion its just what the thalmor wants to happen with every ally of the empire. Divide and conquer, each province of tamriel separated and isolated by its own without any alliances so the thalmor can take em all one by one.

@capperz412 I wouldn't go as far as to say they're "ruining" it, they are actually helping the sales. They might make you choke them in a discussion about Skyrim, when seeing how superficial they treat it, sure, but they're not ruining anything... The series are going to keep their focus on the lore. That's why I decided to play Morrowind and Oblivion now, before Skyrim, for the love of the lore, and I had to resist all this Skyrim hype and gameplays.. But still, I plan on doing it..

@Rodshark75 And also, one of the main reasons that they banned Talos worship is because he is a warrior god. Banning him and allowing the elves to witch-hunt anyone worshipping him is basically pulling out the nords "claws" and making them more docile and easier to conquer later (kinda like what Christianity did to the Vikings).
The elves are just biding their time, weakening the empire further and helping it crumble so they can conquer it later.

@mikolyshka I hope elder Scrolls 6 put Dovahkiin against the Thalmor, cause let's be honest there are way to many loose ends with this storyline. Like what happened with the Great War, why can't we take it to the Thalmor directly, and what will killing the emperor trigger?
