ouranos was not a god, but rather a titan (the predecessors of gods) the son of the first titan chronos (time) who ate his children, untill eaten by ouranos himself who in turn ate his children untill zeus killed him, freed his syblings from his fathers stomach, married his own sister (or mother i'm not sure wich it was again) hera and thus came forth the gods, greek mythology sure is fucked up :P
The Sun is located inside the inner-arm of the Milky Way galaxy. It's15,000 light years from the galactic center and not part of a major spiraling arm. It's unclear how the sun moves about in space. If galactic centers are twirling stars in a spiral direction, the sun must also be moving in a spiral direction. Whether it moves about on its own, on its axis, is unknown.
@brettjy Well Astronomy is the science of studying celestial objects such as the planets, and basically everything else outside the solar system, so if that's a course available to you then you should study that. A lot of the time Astronomy is merged with another branch of science called Physics, therefore it comes in another form called Astrophysics. There are more topics such as Cosmology but I'd say it's Astronomy that is the course topic you're looking for.
Bout mars the vid feels incomplete theres also the theory that astroids slammed into it and interupted the iron flow and that made the magnetic field weaker and it then lost most of its atmosphere
@jasminepitts, You mean My Class and I, right jasmine? As far as the Heat on Venus I'm sure it's Cooler by the Lake. The three L's. LLL. Location, Location, Location! Besides You really can't put a lot of faith in the Venusian Weather People anyway. Their just like ours when it comes to giving accurate predictions about the weather! They miss a lot & just never seem to get it right more than half the time. I'd take a range of clothing & an Umbrella just to be safe. An a windbreaker jacket.
@rends Because mercury does not have atmosphere to trap the heat from the sun. Whereas Venus has a thick layer of atmosphere mainly made of co2 so it traps all the heat from the sun by green house effect
Everything was awesome , i was amazed by it . this video makes my love more deeper to science . Very good vid. A good tutorial to those who want to learn science . Thanks for making this.
great video, but still Pluto should have had at least an honorable mention since, even though not considered a planet anymore, is still part of the solar sistem
gorgeously assembled and well-composed, the images are breathtaking and amazing. <3 However, I'm curious to know the composer and name of the song you've used for this, and whether or not it can be purchased on iTunes? Thanks for getting back to me if you can!
@TheUniverseUnfolded Woohoo, thank you! Fortunately the songs on royaltyfreetunes are purchasable. This has made my night, thanks for the videos and all else!

- awesome video. Do this:
1) Start and immediatly pause this video.
2) Mute this video.
3) Turn on "Only Time" by Enya.
4) Start this video.
We all have our taste, but to me "Only Time" is the only song that should accompany a video about our Solar System that is this good and well-made.

I have a question, excuse my ignorance on this subject, but why is Venus hotter than Mercury if it is farther from the sun ?

cibokilley 1 year ago 4
@cibokilley The first song you hear is 'Homeward Bound' by Stewart Dugdale.
The second song is 'Mind Control', also from Stewart Dugdale.
The third song is called 'Ice Cage' and it's from the PS2 game Ace Combat: Squadron Leader.
I searched on iTunes for Stewart's songs and couldn't find them. I got them however from a website called
royaltyfreetunes.co.uk and search for ambient themes vol. 1
