I'm trying to decide on a convertable model with a 9.5" barrel. Its about 85-90% for $300 its advertised on a local forum. I've never shot out of a long barrel like that, have you?
really the high profile sights are not need on that gun i have been shooting at an old freezer in the pasture bout 160 yards away with my grandpa's single six today i didnt hit it everytime but i was taggin it
I have a single six except mine is an old model 3 screw with the factory transfer bar installed. Inherited it after my grandfather passed, in fact I learned to shoot with it back in the day. I don't use the 22 lr cylinder much anymore 22 mag is so much fun to shoot., Little more than 22lr but not much more.
Speaking of Christmas presents. Mine came in a yellow and black cardboard box. A steel framed single action .22 hog leg. Improved in many ways over the original 1873 designed revolver. Way overbuilt and hence, built to last. She accompanied me in the woods many times hunting in remote areas for snowshoe hare in my home country Canada. Not quite as accurate as the classic MK pistols though. Much more collector nostalgia.
Excuse me while I strap on my personal ass kicker.
Nice Single Six. Had one with 91/2 inch barrel. I have rigged up a kicking mechanism fashioned to a pantograph that I occasionally wear over my shoulders. Pull a lever and I can kick myself in the ass every morning.
I sold it! Interchangeable cylinders to!. .22wrm and .22lr.
@MrBkbandit dude, real guns dont have muzzle flash, unless you shoot it really fast, thats the only way you will get muzzle flash is if te barrel gets dirty, it only gets dirty when you shoot it really fast, or you shoot alot of rounds with out taking breaks. lol
hello,i just bought my first ruger new model single sixs and was just wondering if its normal for the cylinder to not line up with the ejector when you turn a click, you've got to turn back to line em up yourself. thanks
@theDUKE197908 it's normal, the cylinder is tools to align with the barrel, not the ejector rod. It feels awkward when you're first learning to load and eject the cartridges, but eventually once you've put enough rounds through it you'll get the feel and know how to position it for the ejector rod like it's instinct.
Looks like your gun doesn't like the .22 Mag quite as well. Such variation seems to be pretty common with these convertible revolvers -- some peoples' Single Sixes are the reverse, they love .22 Mag but print more dispersed groups with .22 LR.
No, the 22 mag is larger in diameter so 22LR rounds would possibly rupture. They'll fit into the 22mag cylinder so you have to be careful. Check out my companion video for details. Thanks~
Hey Sootch, Good vid. I've had a couple of those in the past. Hate I ever got rid of them. Only 22 revolver I have now is a old nickel plated Revelation "99" 9-shot w/4" barrel. Good gun though. I in NC also near Winston-Salem. working on a shooting range out on the farm. Have to get you over hear when I get it finished. Have a goodin and Happy Shooting, yf, BigTiny100
Sootch have you every visted the website Gun Blast. Com by Jeff Qunnin?
He did a view on the Ruger Bearcat and its history of the gun. Go to googel serch and type Ruger Bearcat and read his review. Also In August I bought a very nice Ruger 10/22 Carbine and I mounted a scope on it. This is the gun that every gun owner or collector should have in their gun saftey. Its is bar none the best .22LR Carbine in the market today.
Ruger has a specail place in my heart because it was the first hand gun I every shot. It was my late fathers Ruger 22LR Semi Auto handgun. Sadley Dad passway one year ago this month. But his gun he left me will stay with me forever including his Winchester 20 Ga Shotgun which needs some work on.
My first experience with a gun was my dad's Ruger Bearcat. A family firearm becomes an heirloom and can bring up great memories. Thanks for sharing my Friend~ Sorry about your Dad.
Thanks Sootch. My Dad is now in a better place. Every since Obama won the election he did not want to live much longer he said the day after the eleciton.
Little did I know it would be two days latter.
The best we can do now is vote in a pro-american first congress and Senate in 2010 to keep the Commie in check unitl he gets vote out in 2012.
There is a good chance you will see Col North and meet him in person. You will defently see the man is a true voice for gun rights and that is none other then
Uncle Ted Nugent! When he there man or man everyone goes crazy.
We have one of these, its sadly stored away in the shopm right now though, we last used it to put a possum out of its misery, it had been attacked by my dog, and the first memory i have of seeing it was when we were shooting it at a pizza box with a big target drawn on it
awesome!@ I loive my single six, I just bought magnums for it, it will be thew 1st time shootign 22 winchester mag for me, and boy did I have sticker shock when I bought them, same price as some 9mm blazers!!!
I just purchased a single six 5.5 barrel fixed sight. Beautiful gun for $469
