Welll guys, you can purchase 10 LCDs/Plasmas, but you will find yourself with the same problem. These TVs are not designed to last 10 plus years that we are accustomed to. High current voltage can cause problems, electrical storms, etc. I think you have a T-Con Board problem or a Backlight Inverter problem. Since the problem is on one side, if you dare, replace that board, which I think is the T-Con or Backlight Inverter. Let me know how it worked out for you?
FYI, all flat screen TVs are designed to only last 3-5 years. You can buy a different brand, but you will eventually run into the same problems. This sounds like a T-con board problem which is usually on both sides of your TV. Fix the side that has the black fade to it. There is a board in the center of the TV as well which could be the problem, and lastly if you press on the TV and the picture is okay, you have a soldering problem. If your TV pops when turned off, it's a soldering issue.
I feel this pain and wold like to share a possible fix, long term or short... Build some "shims"
(I choose cardboard) and place between the outer frame and screen of the tv. If your lucky you will find the "sweet spot"! Has worked on my Sanyo thus far. Best of luck!
Know what i found out what happen the sanyo tv i got was from walmart the one that was for show they reboxed it and sold it like it was new it still have the store menu and alland god knows how long they had it on mabey 2 years?.
My Sony Bravia is doing exactly the same thing. From Sams Club for whatever thats worth. Its 3 years old and exactly a month out of the warranty I bought.
yes have the same tv after two years does the same thing but after tapping it for a couple months it got a real light line across the top that would not go away by tapping it. we finally just left it on all the time and the line went away. so that tv is always on now. we just turn off the sattelite box and let the screen saver do its thing one day it will burn out but until then it works just fine.
Same thing happened to 2 of my sanyo tvs! Thank goodness we bought the warranty because we got two new tvs! and because I live in Hawaii, they sent us a check and we were able to buy a new one and keep the extra money too!
yep mine looks just like that. i think its funny as hell that you can shake it or touch it to make it work better... that makes it seem like the problem is an easy fix but ive never heard of any fix. now some people are saying there is a part that can fix it but its not made anymore. you can get mad at sanyo but i personally am just never buying a tv from walmart again. if you go to best buy they have like 50 televisions on display and not one of them is a sanyo. i wouldnt sell sanyo either.
@TheDeathofGrace I don't think it matters where it's bought, Sanyo is Sanyo regardless of where it's purchased.
Shake it to fix it? Well, I didn't spend a lot of money on a TV to have to shake it to make it work. I needs to work all on it's own!
I'm glad I bought a warranty. The warranty/insurance company that contracts with Wal-Mart was good to me. They supplied me with a replacement that was better then the unit that went bad.
You are right, Best Buy does not offer Sanyo TV's.None on website.
@SoCalSindy Yeah, I know. I was just thinking who can blame a crappy foreign company. It's more the honor of American stores im concerned with. Warranties are like 100-200 dollars or something? At the time i was young and dumb not to get one but still it only would have added a year and I expect a tv to work 3 years plus. I guess ive been spoiled by 3 glass tvs that have been working for 10 years. One never gets turned off.
i had this happen with my sanyo after bsing me around for 3 weeks the guy calls o we dont make that part anymore thank got for the warranty program at walmart the nice lady sent me out a brand new 1080 visio with 120HZ remember always buy WARRANTS
my tv is starting to go bad to it turns on but theres no sound or pic and it stays frozen and cant change the channel after that it just turns on and off by its self with the light still on anyone know how to fix it
I'm having exactly the same problemw with my 46' plasma.... Problem started about a month after warrenty was up.. When i called Sanyo they litterally told me it wasn't there problem. So I told them they can shove their TV's where the sun don't shine (being nice there lol ) and would never buy anything from them again. As well as telling everyone i know not to buy from them. I have to either leave it on or shake the crap out of it til i get a headache.
I never got a full explanation as to what the problem actually was. The unit went back to shop and it was said that the part that was initially replaced was no longer available. How convenient. I think the shop frauded the insurance company. No never mind tor me, I got a brand new TV out of the deal. Sure glad I bought the warranty program!
