  • WOOOOWW, we were the shit, wen i was there from 92-95 every year was a standing ovation...we rocked the place....I MISS THOSE FUN DAYS.....C/O 95....PURCUSSION LINE.

  • Chula Vistas doing a field show this year

for the first time in a very long time

  • OMG!!!! 5 tubas!!! my year I was the only damn tuba player =.=

  • yea thats true why does that not happen this days.... it will be cool to still have that...dont u think?

  • Wow Mabrey still got it haha, yeah we are doing Pin Wheels and ripples this year, i have mabrey right now

  • @squidmajor I had mabrey for health class in 1997 at hilltop middle school during the summer

  • how come CV isnt like that anymore :(

  • @Joeltz i know D: its a shame that most of the bands in our district arent what they used to be. hopefully the arts will stay alive and continue to grow, not just in olympian and eastlake, but in every school. as a current member of olympian, id like to come back 20 years from now and see how much this district has grown in music.

  • I'm still looking for '93 field show video for us. That was an epic first year and every year after was even better. Mabrey IMHO was and still is one of THE premier band directors in California. God those were great times.

  • Oh man, these were definitely good times. I remember when Mabrey got pissed at me for bringing the wrong mouthpiece to a marching competition- he took out his anger on his electronic tuner. Guess who I am. Muahaha

  • At first i thought you had mabrey as a teacher back then... then it took me a second to figure out how old he woulda been and thought, nah

  • Mr. Mabrey was the music teacher at Chula well before 1994, I believe his first year was 88.

  • Is this same Mabrey that is Olympian right now? And parade marching adjudicator for SCSBOA? Eric Mabrey?

  • yes. That's him conducting on the 50 yard line, not sure why it's so hard to believe. Search for "maytime hype" on youtube and you will see a news clip of him from 1990 with the marching band. I graduated in 96 so I had him for 4 years, and he taught us for part of my 7th grade year at CVJH when Mr. Withem left. Mabrey and Luzak were by far my 2 favorite teachers in high school.

  • Oh gosh i just didn't know he was that old lol

  • Who are you anyway? I graduated 98, played trumpet. But yeah, definitely Mabrey and Luzak were my favorites. Davalos was also one of my favorite teachers, but the news I heard in regards to his incident kind of makes me question him now.

  • our drumline could kick your drumlines ass!

  • the pinwheels, the cape thing....

im on trombone somewhere in this one........

    GOOOOOD times!!!!!

  • that drumline was a dirt machine! Did they EVER not play matched grip?

  • @itzSandog TRADITIONAL is better then matched grip. its more professional.

  • oh I loved those pin wheels. This is a trip! I miss the old band pagents!!!
