fps, range, the types of barrels and hop-up housing(determines accuracy). I know the gen 3 shot 400 otb, and the gen 5 is supposed to be 500. UTG also will work out the kinks each time they produce a new generation. Sniper rifles still need tight bore barrels and new hop ups to be very accurate though.

@metroidgoodsuit I couldn't tell you. This gun is very cheap, but definitely NOT the best even for the low price i paid for it. If you want a good gun, you will need to spend alot of time and money to get it. Do research on airsoft websites, read reviews and save up. Don't ever try to turn an AEG into a sniper, I regret selling this one now...

Although im not familure with the M324 I do know that my friends MP-001's bolt got stuck because theres this odd cover on the ass end of the bolt screwed on with hex screws. I just took an allen wrench and tightend it a little and the bolt worked again. Basicaly what im saying is something could be loose and catching on it, disassemble it and check it.

Don't spare expense...I have found that high grade .25g's work the best and provide a great fps/range ratio and reach all the way to 220ft with a tightbore! Hope this helps!

I sold it because I found a cool AEG and bought a gas pistol. I regret selling it now. I should have just saved for the gas pistol. I would buy it back now if I could. I had a sweet suppressor for it, and it was dialed so precisely with my leapers scope. Sniper aeg's cost a lot to get perfect, so it'll take me a while.

I found the scope (Simmons 8-point) on ebay for a measly $25. I got some new rings and it was great. I recommend leapers scopes too.

I would recommend this gun, but I haven't shot the Gen. 5 or for that matter even held one. I cannot say for sure, but I would assume that the Gen. 5 would be better. If I had thew money I would get one and tell you! Hope this helps!

Obviously I have one too, and over the 2 yrs of abuse I never had any of these problems. All of the above can be easily upgraded at small expense. Laylax makes a sick trigger sear & piston sear setup. Bolts run kinda expensive, but there's alway's UTG's replacement bolt for only $30!!! I still think this is a great gun!

Yes, but you must know what parts are and aren't meant for this gun. Laylax makes some great upgrade parts like piston sear, trigger sear... if you're going to upgrade the piston, you will probably have to get a whole new bolt. I bought a $60 piston that ruined my bolt. The only way to upgrade the spring is by getting a better piston...catch 22, basicly you have to do a lot of work to get it to perform with high fps. lol The m40 came out in 1966, but was also modeled after the Rem. 700. M24 is newer(1988). The m24 shoots the .308/7.62x51 NATO as does the M40. There is a little difference between the stocks that are on the current standard issue rifles. That's about it, but it really doesn't matter because they're both being replaced slowly by the KAC Mk 110 or m110.

Harris ( made by McMillan) is built to shoot other rounds such as the .300 winchester, and the famous .38 lapua. The m86 is also shorter than the m24. If u wanna be technical, it's the m24/m700, but it can play the role of any sniper you want it to be.

The hop up unit in this gun is a small rubber cylinder housed in your gun in front of the barrel. This cylinder is adjusted to put different spin on the bb, causing it to become more/less accurate and giving it greater distance and accuracy. A heavy bb also contributes greatly to accuracy/range. i don't have the gen 5, but judging by the fps, you would have little to no control with the hop up and poor accuracy. .20g's work good with 360 fps and less, but no more. You'll get the best results with .25 or .28g bbs.

Dude, $105 is a huge rip whjen you can get it from airsplat for $85(ACU). If you want to upgrade this rifle, the secret is the piston sear. You can get away woth over 500 fps on the stock piston if you can upgrade the sear.

I just did a piston sear a little while ago. Unfortunately, I did not make a video yet. That will come later. First, dont buy a standard VSR piston sear, as it is the same one in your gun already. Get the laylax reinforced sear, it's worth the money. Take the four screws out of your trigger mech. To do this, you'll have to take off the piston head. Once you do this, go ahead and take out the safetey switch first, then loosen the trigger body screws.

Be careful because your whole trigger mech will fall out if you do not do this properly.

Try to take out the piston sear pin and spring w/out letting any other springs go flying out. Then slip the new sear onto the pin w/the little spring and slide it into place. Tighten your screws, replace the safety, and you're good to go.

Note: BE VERY CAREFUL with the safety screw. It is soft. Mine broke in half while it was in the gun. Now I can't get the trigger mech apoart:(

i bought a madbull black python and an element m145. i do not recommend the spring right now cause im javing trouble getting the thing to work. the black python required some modifications to make it fit. i had to grind the inside of the hop up housing to fit the barrel. for what it's worth, i'd buy a new rifle, like a vsr 10 something. the m324 is really hard to upgrade.
