@Andycards Basically, Reagan spent billions of dollars on defense in what was called another military arms race with the Russians. In doing so, the Russians could not keep up and it caused an Economical collapse.

this is frightening. russia had around 6000 missiles at their disposal, and usa had 6 times less. it was unlikely they would fire, but reagen had to make 100% sure they wouldnt. he that did that with the greatest applaumb

Even though its 2010 i love watching these reagan videos hes my ultimate hero I write about him in my english class and he inspires me to join the army which I infact am this summer! I give Reagans spirit credit to allowing me to come to this desision =)

Reagan had almost no impact in bringing about the collapse of the USSR. The USSR was kept together by force or the threat of force. Gorbachev was the first leader of the USSR who refused to use force, thus it collapsed. Reagan had zero impact on Gorby's choice to not use force. Gorby was a "true believer" communist who tried to make the USSR work the way it was "suppossed to work". Since the system could not reform, it "broke" instead. The dog baying at the "sun" when this happened was Reagan.
