Can you do a video on your diet?? Would love to know what you eat on a regular as well as what you eat when prepping to compete! I am interested in getting started in weight training and maybe even competing one day!
You are a great trainer. Despite you being muscular, you are still feminine looking. My girl is athletic built and sexy like you. plus she still has the cute face like you as well. Keep up the good work.
@Annahealthseeker awesome! Just make sure to keep realistic goals in mind for yourself at all times. That will help you to stay on track and not fall off.
Roxie... If I am doing lifting weights at the lbs that I can feel the burning... or like doing lunges, and feel the lactic acid burning, does that mean I'm building muscle?
Like say if I was doing an easier weight and never felt that burn, does that mean I'm NOT building muscle... perhaps I am just toning then?
@mjsolomon Lactic acid is simply the biproduct of the glycolosis energy pathway of the body. The workout that we have going on works within that system, so the biproduct is lactic acid, and that's NOT a bad thing at all. The body uses it as energy in place of glycogen when the muscles begin to produce it. That's the easy explaination. As you further condition your body, you will increasae your lactic acid threshold. The burn is a good thing, it is present when you are fully pushing yourself.
@mjsolomon (Con't) To answer your question it's not so much how much lactic acid that is produced that will bulid muscles, it is in the actual work capacity that you're doing that causes a building of tissue. Right now, you won't be building much, instead increasing endurance and neuromuscular function. Yiou are not lifting enough at this point to put on much mass, however if your diet is clean and your cardio is within the right range, you may see an overall lowering of bodyfat.
I have a question. A lot of people suggest working upper body one day and lower another day so you can give your muscles a rest. If you're doing a total body workout how many days a week do you suggest doing it?
@amayou1 Hey there, thanks SO much for your watching my video. As for your question, you can do this workout about 3-4x/week with a rest day in between those days. If you were to do it for a second week, I'd play around with variables to increase the intensity (upping the # of reps, sets, varying tempo, decreasing rest, and as a last resort, increasing weight). There are several ways to increase intensity without going up in weight, that's just one element.
@amayou1 - Part 2: As far as training splits, when your goal is fat loss research has shown it is actually MORE beneficial to follow a program that recruits using as many muscle groups at the same time. Therefore compound kind of exercises, or total body exercises have a better effect than a traditional strength split. There IS however a time and place for a split routine, & you will get MORE of a benefit from that kind of program when you are looking to build maximal strength and hypertrophy.
My God where were you when I was single?

I did this at the gym today. It's really helpful that you showed the exercises from different angles and gave tips on form.
