Thanks for the video. I'm a little unhappy with the answer. We would not be here watching this video if we weren't trying to introduce fresh stuff into our diet. So I guess could you answer as you say "Good, better, best". We don't want to buy both right off the bat. So how should we ease into this lifestyle?
All your videos have helped me make my decision (Omega 8004) Will be ordering from you very soon...but I want the fiber too...I am thinking I will just mix a little of the pulp extracted...does that make sense or would it be better to use a blender....doesn't make sense to me to buy 2 units...
John i like your video, its a very interesting debate between juicing and blending, what are your thoughts on using a hand held blender? As far as i am aware, they dont reach as high resolutions per second compared to stationary blenders, and therefore oxidation would be decreased, but they may not break down the material as well, what are your thoughts?
In general, I agree. Some hand blenders run up to 17,000 rpm, which is still really quick... In general, they are good for certain tasks, such as whipping cream (because they do introduce air). The hand blenders can also get messy.. If your serious, get a real blender or a juicer.. You CAN use the juicer as a kind of "blender" by using a "blank plate" which will fairly effectively mush up anything put into it, which is called "baby food".
Wouldn't using the homogenizing blank with the Green Star make the same mushy substance as the blender, eliminating the need for the blender at all? (Granted I know this would be more time consuming)
Chewing, which has been with the human race for thousands of years, causes enzymes to be activated, thereby assisting the digestive process throughout the entire alimentary canal.
I'm wondering if it's a good idea to blend the carrots and then put the contents into the juicer. Would that make juicing the carrots faster and put less stress on the machine?
Why it's no mentioned here that blenders take a way some nutrients and due to fast spinning of the blades that creates heat and oxygenate the process?.
The results and pros/cons that I talk about in this video would be similiar for leafy greens. When blending leafy greens, you will NEED to add a liquid (water) to get them to blend.
Thanks very much for making this video. I decided on an Omega 8006 juicer. I can simply add some of the non-soluble fiber back as desired. I'm also using the non-soluble fiber to make crackers in my dehydrator or putting it in my composter. :-)
While you can juice berries, I recommend blending them. IF you juice them, you will get little juice, but alot of pulp (waste) and berries are expensive.. unless you grow them yourself..
Dude I bought a blender but I was looking to juice...I can't believe that happened. And now I fell in love with my 159.99 Ninja 1200 that I refuse to take back because it's so fuckin awesome lol...but I still need the juicer
Is there a stainless steal juicer that's high quality? I'm pretty sick and probably need to get juicing as soon as possible.Thank you so much for your input.
I would personally juice them all. But yes, you can juice some produce items, and then blend additional veggies or fruits into them if you so desire. There are pros and cons to each blending and juicing as explained in this video.
Fiber provides bulk, and keeps you regular. The leftovers from juicing can be tossed onto a bowl of quinoa, rice, etc and eaten raw. Some people can't chew hard veggies due to age, or jaw disorders. Blending, and juicing do a lot of the work. I toss water into my blender with shredded carrots, strain, and drink it. It's very simple.
could you add some apple juice to the carrot to make it more liquid? I have a vitamix and debating about getting a juicer. I was looking at the jack lalane ones?
You provide so much unique information that is completely unavailable anywhere else, do you ship worldwide (Germany specifically)? How does it work with the guarantee ?
We should juice the vegetables and blend the fruits. My strong examples: juice from the carrots and paste (mousse) from the apples. It's better to eat the whole content of the fruits, and only essential elements of vegetables - a juice.
I agree with you sobizzr. I had a juiced years ago. I currently have a blender and will be trying out blending soon. I'm honking maybe mixing some fruit with a vegetable or 2 here and there? Anyways, I don't really want to go out and get a juicer again at the moment. For now though, I mix my veggies with rice, no meat. Eat my fruit whole, but will try blending fruit.
juicing or drinking juice gives a very fast nourishment . blending wil give the same nourishment although at a slower rate but with the advantage of getting fibers for the colon and fat absorptions. we win on both, and this video is doing an excellent job explaining it. thank you.
I'm not sure whether or not juicing makes absorbtion easier, however I feel that the most compelling argument for juicing allows you to consume far more vegetables than you ordinarily would if you were to eat the whole vegetables. Even though some nutrition will remain in the fibrous vegetable after juicing, overall, you get more nutrition.
FINALLY you have explained to perfecttion how doing both PLUS eating is so healthful! I bought a breville juicer and love it. got on track with my health quickly. yesterday I bought a Blendtec blender (watched your comparison vids for research!) and now i make soups and smoothies with pulp. watching you nibble carrots was so cute. wish i lived near your garden!! thanks for all your HELPFUL videos!! people NEED you!
we know that its vitamix blender...can you please add the name of the juicer in your info section...thank you! I dont have alot of time right now to read all comments.:)
This juicer is the Green Star GS-1000 model. That being said, Im not a big fan of this particular juicer. The newer model is the Green Star Elite, which is a big improvment, in my opinion. That being said, I do testing and make videos on all the major brands of juicers out there, so you can choose the juicer that will best meet your needs.
My favorite juicer depends on what im juicing/what im doing with the juicer. My top two favorite style juicers (for me an what I juice) - your needs may be different, in which case, I would reccomend a different juicer. I like the Omega 8004 and Omega 8006 and Omega VRT350HD or Omegfa VRT330HD
nice... living healthy sells itself. I was thinking in this world of quick schemes and corps ripping people off what sort of business could i open that is decent and this video shows theres good businesses that offer good products that actually improve life.
Man kind made it's greatest expansion in history because they learned to cook which broke down grains easily and that made him spend his time developing and waring because he didn't have to spend all his time foraging eating to get enough calories. Now the blender is the new way to cook. It is perfect way to break down the fiber walls so we can get more nutrients which cooking did. Juice is good especially when sick or for some tasty drinks but blenders are the way to go.
Yeah....maybe you should get a Blendtec HP3A total blender with the 3 qt pitcher. It beats the heck out of the vitamix. Plus....add about a half cup of water to the carrrots and you have carrot juice!
WOW! Thanx for this video! Man you really know your stuff!!! I read many books on modern nutrition and you really sum it up perfectly. All this juices and mushes are great but as you say, don´t forget the fiber, it is vital for our health. And best food of all are green, leafy veggies!!!
Eat veggies and fruits also as they are using your teeth!!!
Great info , and so funny! Keep up the good work! ! I have a Waring pro it’s a bit of a fuss for the clean up , But effective , is that juicer like the Cadillac of juicers ? Looks like it , the fibre looks totally dry , great compost Eh! Great stuff! What is good to look for in a blender? Glass? Plastic ? Plunger?
Fiber is like exercise for your digestion. When you eat fiber, remember to DRINK WATER WHEN YOU EAT FIBER!!! A lot of these blenders or emlusifiers, they want you to add WATER!!! Just like your digestive system needs water so do these machines need water. Your body is made mostly of water. The body loses about 2 QT's of water a day!!! Water helps with digesting and moving fiberous foods. Water and Juicing are the best beverages!!! GO RAW!!!
Agreed, we can not digest it, but we need fiber in our diet. Try eating a diet, rich WITHOUT FIBER (ie: all meat) and call me in a month to let me know how you are doing.
@teckniec2 In plain terms the function of insoluble fiber is to make shit move slower. So your body can absorb more nutrients from the food that we eat.
Well I think blending greens is good with the smoothies with a vitamix or a blendtec. But to make smoothies with carrots and starchy vegetables like beets or brocolli is not a good idea. It doesn't taste good. Because green leafy vegetables are not really vegetables. So I would juice carrots, beets, celery, broccolli, but blend spinach, kale.
I agree completely: juicing and blending shouldn't be an either-or proposition. My Norwalk juicer and Vita-Mix 5000 reside in happy side-by-side harmony on my kitchen counter. Their different functions complement each other beautifully and I wouldn't be without either one.
BTW John, the most nutritious carrots are older--the wife of the president of Norwalk told me that she likes to tell people that "carrots are like women--they improve with age!" They do need to peeled lightly, though.
Adding nuts to veggies will slow down their digestion time due to the fat. That can be a "good" or "bad" thing depending on who you ask. I personally do not reccomend adding nuts to a "green smoothie"
I have a large family and cannot afford a juicer yet. But I do have a Blendtec blender, you know, the one that can grind up a tennis shoe? LOL Anyway, I blend my veggies and strain them thru a polyester paint strainer bag (same as a nut milk bag tho much cheaper). Before I drank my juice before straining and it hit my tummy too hard...must have been fiber overload. Straining it prevents that discomfort. LOVE your videos!
