Palm Pre Update - New Case, Battery Life, Copy and Paste

So, we are on like a two year thing, so every two years we can get a new phone. I kind of want this one but now that I have heard some other things about it, I don't know if I want it now. Right now I have the Virizon Cosmos, and I get a new phone in December, would anyone recommend this one? Oh, and I text a lot so does that drain the battery pretty quickly too? Please, someone get back to me. Thank you!

i have no idea how he gets 2 and a half days of battery life with heavy usage. i have turned off gps. email, wifi, and even turned off 3g and just with texting still doesnt even last a day. horrible battery life.

@cm11cox If it's any consolation I do not get that kind of battery life now. I can get about a day and half on idle, but less than a full day with usage.

Palm pre is still a sorry phone. It can not compete with the iphone. My pre, suxs it has been more problems than its worth. What a rip off. Dont buy this phone... Stay with the blackberry.

cases usually scratch the phone..not actually a good one came out just use your cloth one or ust a leather case. best bet

what do you mean by set the email manually do u mean like set it so it only opens and all that when u hit the app or what do u mean by that ??

Setting the email manually means opening the email app and manually clicking the refresh (or send and receive) button in the email app.

There is an exception to this. If your email is Yahoo or GMail (which supports Push Email), you can check the option to receive email 'As it arrives' and it shouldnt significantly affect battery life. At least not in my experience.

the question is: if you enable wi-fi, and connect to your router and surf on the net, listening to music watch vids....etc. WILL the provider charge you all this?(I GOT MOBILE NETWORK WITH LIMIT)

It shouldn't (but I would recommend asking a sprint service rep just to make sure) because you are not using Sprint's data lines to download the data.

You get 3 days out of your standard battery? WOW!!! I keep everything off accept email updates are set to every hour and my phone barely lasts an 8 hour work day.

You know since I have moved to Texas, my phone with nearly everything turned off and no email only lasts a day. When I recorded that video, I was living in Chicago. I know my cell coverage has gotten worse (but not bad) since I moved down here. So I think your cell coverage plays a major role in your battery life.

Hold the icon you want to change for 2 seconds with your finger and rearrange it on the doc or just take it off completely.

This does push on gmail accounts from what I know...I don't know if it does it on all types of accounts

I have that case. Its really good but the down side ( & Palm knows about it) that in a solid case the phone has a habit of heating up. The other thing is that it doesnt let the charging stone charge through it. They have hard cases that you can.

I don't recommend placing your Pre in your pocket, I recently shattered my screen by having it in my pocket. Large LCD means less force needed to break the screen.

Wow 3 weeks is a lot. I made the claim on Thursday and got my phone yesterday monday. Actually asurion made a mistake and sent me 2 palm pre, one via Fedex and one via UPS. They made the same mistake to every other custumer that made a claim that same day. Called them up and just returned the extra phone and I get to keep all the accessories.

To my knowledge there is no size limit. As far as video formats: MPEG-4, H.263, H.264

So I bought my pre a few days ago and one of the first things I asked was about a protective case like the one you previewed and the sprint guy said that they didnt sell them and if my phone looked like it had one and it broke that warranty would not cover it. also I had a question about video do you know when I can start shooting videos from my pre?

And also since a lot of people are trying to get more out of there battery. google palm pre 1400mah battery. it gives you 20% more battery. i have one of those and it gives me about half a day more of battery life.

I bought the black case with the belt clip but, after installation, I was having the HARDEST time sliding the keyboard up and down. Did you notice that? I took it back. Just too tight for me.

You can take a screen shot of your message by pressing the orange key up key and p. then you can send it as a picture message. just as good as forwarding all though i wish the forwarding feature was there.

I want to buy a cover like yours - but some people complain it's 1] hard to remove, 2] can't be used while charging.

1] It is challenging, but not hard to remove. Perhaps the biggest thing is that when I have tried to remove it, I feel like I'm going to break it or crack it. Regardless, though you really don't want a cover that is easy to remove. You want something sturdy.

2] You can't use it with the Magnetic Charging station, but you can use it with your USB cable as I demonstrate in the video.

From what Palm has said the Pre saves more battery when email is pushed to your phone rather than being checked manually or at intervals. Also if you are in an area with wifi and are surfing the web the pre allows better battery savings over wifi.

I don't know if it's just my Pre or my coverage area in Chicago, but my battery will drain completely in one day if I have email turned on. If I have it set to check manually, it doesn't drain as much, but it's still significant.

As far as the WiFi, yes. I am sorry if I did not make that clear in the video.

EVERYONE WITH A PRE: Always try to use WiFi first to do anything over the web (especially OS updates).

Yes, but I think you will have to pay for the DataViz software that will allow you to edit documents. Honestly though, I'd rather someone find a way to write/edit docs with Google Docs on the Pre.

I can't wait till the SDK is legitimately released.
