  • Thanks for posting brother. It's nice to know somebody out there cares. I live in the UK and all I hear is that there are loads of skilled job available in your country, not much point going to a country with no water. The world has too many people and it is getting worse by the second. Good luck to you.

  • yeah it aint cyclic at all... whatever dude... I don't think your worrying about a lack of water any more

  • We have the opportunity to show the world how to reduce emissions. The ZCA2020 plan produced by Melbourne Uni promises to reduce emissions, create tens of thousands of jobs and reduce the average Aussie electricity bill to just $8 per week. Don't believe me? watch?v=qImNRuV4G0Q

  • no such things as climate change but if there really is climate change, it wont be up to us to deal with this. let our children and grand children worry about it!

  • @MsHatetheworld fuck you

  • we dont care about climate change. Its for our children and grand children to worry about.

  • are u nuts going to stop volcano from erupting? Blind fools!

  • HELP MOTHER NATURE FOR BETTER CLIMATE

    Use mighty power of nature

In the northwestern Australia, we have huge tides,

huge deserts, huge evaporation and huge dry rivers and lakes.

Huge 12m tidal erosion can revive old dry paleo dormant once mighty rivers, creeks and lakes,

desalinate the country and change deserts to rain forests to provide more rain across Australia

World population is growing rapidly and we need more energy, food, land and water.

  • You are being told a lie. You are asleep - wake-up... Please, for the sake of humanity.

  • Do nuclear fusion from water! SAfe, clean and non toxic. and no CO2 or toxic fission waste

  • lol political hot air

  • yes lets tax the shit out of us then just throw money at it....................i wonder if the dinosaurs were taxed or ancient man. Fuck they must have been real polluters. c'mon ozzy's let's stand up to this crap................we're going to be the first country for cap & trade and i'm not happy jan.

  • Yup. Phillip Adams. Card carrying commie. Would not expect any less. Radio National has turned into a sickening disgrace.

  • We should be investing in ways to adapt to climate change when it happens rather than worrying about this futile attempt to prevent it. Going all out to prevent climate change is an enourmous waste of money and will destroy the australian way of life for no benefit.

Despite what this guy thinks, if we didnt export coal and uranium the FACT is that others will. Dont give us any of this "lets all work together" bullshit, this is the real world.

  • Thank you very much for this well presented bit of news. Too bad about many of the moronic skeptics below, its going to be hard changing the world when a large number (but hopefully not the majority) of the educated world doesn't believe in the science.

  • 1. Carbon Dioxide is a PRODUCT of temperature change, not a cause.

    2. The warmer it gets, the more polar bears there are.

    3. The temperature on earth is primarily dictated by the sun. We are currently entering a cooling period.

    4. C02, the main concern in this debate, is a primary fuel for life. The more C02, the more plants that can grow and thrive.

    5. The attempts to change public perception by using chemtrails to dissipate air moisture causing cities to warm up won't help you.

  • plenty of water now ratbag... water restrictions were lifted some time ago.

  • learn from the Israelis.

They have awesome agriculture in a f*&king desert.

    Recycled water and preservation.

  • Your climate change freaks are real nutters.

NOW THERE SAYING THIS CLIMATE CHANGE THEORY IS CAUSING EARTH TREMORS!

    That is funny!

  • The globe started cooling in 2005: It is not GW, it is weather!

  • Comment removed

  • what a complete moron

  • I have an M.Eng., and this is my PhD area. Do you have any qualifications - it doesn't read like you have two brain celsl to rub together.

  • Scientist tryin g to save lives. Yuo may wish to die, try jumping off a bridge and don't take us wisth you! Build nuclear plants, no effec t on teh climate, but we all die a toxic death.

  • Australia is losing its agriculture, coral reefs, species and forest die off, burning temps where it used to be mild, you name it. Weather my a**. Australia has to get rid of its coal now. electricity generation produces one-third of Australia's greenhouse emissions and 97 per cent of these emissions are produced by 24 coal-fired power stations, which produce 170 million tons of C02 a year. It also exports coal to other countries. There's no "cooling" moron.

  • I have an M.Eng. The biggest emitters of CO2 are teh US and China. Nuclear power has singled Australai to have more planrts of death built there. Keep Australia nearly nuclear free. Or do you wish to die? And kill others.

  • clearing the land for cattle was the disaster. think the unthinkable and consider completely different approaches to agriculture you'll be much better off. permaculture is the answer, and it's home grown in oz.

  • no no the planet is still in good shape!

we can make a difference but i fear that humans will realize when its too late when there is no turning back.......let us hope :D

  • Hello Phillip, Ive been a fan of yours for a while now .And i am sorry to say to you when the wind does not blow and the sun doesnt shine there is no base load power,,If we are to be serious about climate change its going to be nuclear power, we can do this in a very short time,THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION IF WE ARE FAIR DIKUM,Phillip

  • Although I try to put myself in the shoes of people in the meat business, I am still on the animals' side. I am sorry, but if we don't do something soon and change our eating habits, they will be out of business anyway and everyone will lose out.

  • We are animals.

  • Damn ... so sad :(

  • Who wants an electric Grand Prix?

Or should we continue to go about this half-cocked?!?

    They Call This a Consensus?

    By Lawrence Solomon

    available on ALIVEANDWELL

    under Related Articles.

Just because a politician declares a consensus and surrounds himself with people that agree with him does not mean it's true or that there aren't people that disagree.

  • Austria has very little toxic death! Keep it that way! Climate change is PR from nuclear power, who want to kill you!

  • and they will continue you dig in the basement of Mother Nature's house for coal, oil and nuclear materials until she sends up exactly how many more warnings? Grow up humanity, move out of MOTHER's basement and get new technologies that are not rooted in the 18th century. Mother will bw so proud.

  • jdamon1

I am sad to say .. but I think it is to late for the human race.

Is the human race worth saving?

  • Everyone is talking fools about carbon emissions, if people didn't clear cut ancient forest there wouldn't be such a big issue.

  • who rated this comment a neg? carbon taxes are a ploy to allow corporation to keep on polluting, a total cop out that fools have bought into. the big 3 auto makers in the US paid fines for years to keep churning out SUVs. fines always have loopholes.

  • carbon credits are another banker's form of fake money. Like sub prime real estate CDOs, they will boom and bust to worthless, just like all the other pollution credit point schemes.

  • Thanks for this video.

I don't think I share his optimism though that we're on the bring of some kind of 'unity'.

  • soory but its the truth, may it never rain on Australia,

  • You idiot

  • UK did give up to mine coal, but not to burn it. This is not enough. One has to build up alternatives, as said in the video.

  • Regarding giving up coal in three years, It COULD be done, it WAS done here in the u.k, thanks to Mrs thatcher.

  • And look at the problems it caused in the former coal mining towns. They now have a drug and drink problem that was unknown prior to the mines closing.

  • We need more solar-powered desalination plants.

Scratch that- we need solar and wind powered everything.

  • oh really

  • thanks for this. coal is bad.

  • We're experiencing the same type of drought here in the Southeast US (Georgia) but most people here think climate change is a myth thought up by Al Gore & evil 'liberals' in order to destroy the US economy. So, our governor, Sonny Perdue, decided to pray for rain on the statehouse steps. That, and he's trying to shut the taps off to FL and AL. Atlanta is 3 months away from no water at all. Wouldn't it be ironic if a 'War Between the States' broke out between southern states over water?

  • Well you might want to strap up for some rough roads in the future, because the sun is getting hotter. The ice on planets further away from the sun then we are is beginning to melt.

  • That's exactly what could happen, only on a global scale with Canada at the center of it all as the country with most of the worlds fresh water.

  • I remember in the '70's during that oil drought, that we were asked not to burn Christmas lights, not to use our headlights on our cars. We were told how many billions of barrels would be saved by doing this. Since that time our politicians have made it mandatory for all new cars to burn headlights all the time, they have given citizens tax credits if you bought a vehicle over 6000lbs.

I think this policy was to create a reservoir in motion if you will, but with drastic consequences.

  • Nuclear energy can be contained.

The Climate can not be when the goal is to grow your economy by at least 3% a year.

We can not let these barbaric Muslim theocracies stop us from developing clean affordable nuclear power out of fear they will use the technology against us.

  • Look at what's happening in Atlanta, GA right now. And little publicized is the fact that the northeast U.S. is under drought conditions too.

  • TheRealNews,

Could you cover Australia's possible change in policy, concerning the environment, under the new leadership of the labor party and its possible new role in Oceania/ASEAN area? thx

  • Hi there, we will be interviewing someone today from Australia that will discuss the implication s of the change in government from a climate perspective. We will continue to analyse other areas as well. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • can they get water form the sea?!

  • Yes its possible but it takes energy to evaporate it and then collect the steam to remove the salt from the sea water!

  • That's what the "de-sale" plant is that he's talking about; "de-sale" = desalination (the removal of salt from sea water).

In my city in Southern Ontario our government is stupid enough to allow Nestle to take millions of litres of water a day from our aquifer FOR FREE! We've been having drought conditions for years!

My greatest worry is that people will wait until their taps run dry before taking this issue seriously. By then it will be far far too late to do anything about it.

  • Cool!

  • Thanks for the real news :-)

  • Veronique - population growth has been disproven as the major driver of our resources problems. The group that invented that concept, Population Zero, has since switched their focus to women's rights. The problem is corruption and poverty, not population.

  • Al Gore wasn't so wrong now was he?

  • tempurature raises CO2 levels not the opposite.

0.117% of global warming is caused by Carbon.

google "percentage of co2 causing global warming"

    first link.

  • Google "climate forcing" for a more complete picture, not anecdotal crap intended to mislead.

  • CO2 does cause earth to be warm, about 60F is the accepted value of warming today. Yes rising temperatures does also release trapped CO2 that can lead to a runaway affect (venus at 480 degree's celcius is a good example).

I'd think the world would be better served listening to mainstream science rather from Dr. S. Fred Singer (second hand smoke doesn't cause cancer guy) who is reported at some web sites to have links with grants from ExxonMobil.

  • It's a combination of factors; emissions, deforestation, population, etc & they all compound in effect & they all compliment each other. The melting of the ice also releases more CO2 & causes Earth to absorb more energy from Sun. Deforestation causes less CO2 to be absorbed. Warmer oceans have same effect. It's all tied together, like a living organism.

  • Fucking A bubba, lets all work togeather and strive for a better world. too bad it means throughing away our economics and all that. Then goes down major corporations and polutions, greed, oppresed labor/slavory on people... oh wait

That might be a good thing YEAH!!!

  • Oh Phillip, it's good to see you talking out about this enormous issue. How do you get people and governments to understand that we can't afford exponential population growth; that this growth is the single biggest issue we face in attempting to reign in climate change?

  • Emissions are due to the volume of GHG's per unit of gpd multiplied by the amount of gdp.

So efficiency/gdp/population are the three factors. Which is growing fastest? Gdp will likely qaudrouple by 2050..population may increase 50% so in actual fact economic growth is the elephant in the room.
