HAHHAA i did exactly the same thing...went through the door the first time doubled back and the door was locked, jammed it with a skull and 2 rope arrows, the eye and a quick escape lol

Once you learn that you can Backstab Haunts to actually kill them, then many undead levels loose their sting. Zombies, well, that's another matter.

Best bet is to lure a bunch within range of a single flash bomb, then mass-kill as many as you can. Using your undead-damaging items on one or two at a time gets you killed in the long run. And yes, a couple rope-arrows placed in strategic locations = much easier way to go.

I must really say that this is the scariest level in Thief 1, even if you cheat with the front door... The screams of the haunted Hammerits - it's just horrible!

My brother and I did this one at the same time at 1am on the big screen. Dual screaming. The memory is etched into our hearts in the for of an irregular beat to this day. Good times... XD

This Mission is the hardest one of all the thief missions. I can only complete it in normal mode and even that took me awhile
