  • Before he even begins his video he unqualified himself. Put a shirt on. It's immediately saying, "hey look at me, I look good so I know what I'm talking about" most people see that as an immediate turn off and intimidating. A beginners workout should NEVER begin with a single joint exercise. How about a compound movement and a warm-up to begin. He needs to think about what he is saying and work in his own form before trying to instruct others

  • @sircharlz He is letting your arms or legs rest in between. In this trainers opinion, I like to move from one arm ex, to a leg, to a back, to a leg,etc. with no rest in between. This keeps a cardio eliment to the routine. But that can be more complicated use a strap workout, because of the constant need to adjust the straps.

  • @FitWitMe Thx, But is there a difference in muscle development or burning? When doing one or the other? The no rest in between is a nice tip. Sound tough as well.

  • @sircharlz So the science behind it is this; lower reps equal higher periods of rest. Soooo, if you are doing 15-20 reps you only need to rest 30 sec between sets. If 6-8 reps rest about 90 sec - 2 mins between.

    If you are looking to get a cardio (fact burning) workout, while working with strength, it is best to go from upper to lower body, and back again. But that is just my opinion, but it works. I have helped 3 women in the last 8 weeks lose over 2 pants sizes

  • You're awesome! You've inspired me to start training my core harder on the TRX. You're oblique twist is insane. My new goal is to achieve the same height you're getting.

  • Just a quick comment--for those who find a gym environment distracting (and intimidating, if you're really not in shape, like me), there's a certain appeal to working out in your garage. The lack of other people and creature comforts actually leads to greater focus.

    And with respect, Mr. Herman, I found that my own home-made straps work every bit as well as the name-brand. Just my opinion.

  • @plundgren im a gym owner and honestly i agree with you. the lack of creature comfirts actually does help you focus. no tv's to change or rely on for entertainment, no distractions. although TRX warranties their product and in a gym u need commmercial equipment due to wear and tear but other than that youre right on!

  • This thing is $175.00!!! Thats ridiculous! Plus, that's the 'on sale' price, normally it's $220.00 from their website! When will people learn, there is nothing better than you, and some iron in the form of plates on a bar, or body weight. All these gadgets are such scams IMO because just normal ol' weight training works a hell of a lot better and cost way less. People just want to take all the work out of it and let some gadget do it. LIFT IRON!

  • @Cornbreadddd Have you even tried using the TRX in a workout? Many "strong" athletes have been crushed by a TRX workout due to elevated demand for core strength and total body stability. The proper exercises on a TRX will increase your bench press numbers simply by developing a new level of stability in your shoulders. Break out and try it bro!

  • @Cornbreadddd The TRX system was originally designed by a US Navy SEAL in order to still maintain his Teams physical readiness while in remote regions of the world. This system is much easier to transport than carrying around a bunch of iron plates in addition to all your operational gear. Pricey yes, scam not so much. To each his/her own. Don't like, don't buy.

  • @Cornbreadddd I made my own DIY style for about 27 bucks, just search DIY TRX. Ross training .com has great articles on it. Granted I'm out of shape but I was surprised how much it kicked my ass compared to weights. I thought Id be able to do the pushups way closer to the ground. Its pretty fun too. Just try some of these excercises with a long rope somewhere and imagine you had handles.

  • This looks very intense compared to what you get with the TRX package, where the exercises are only done twice for 30 seconds each. Thanks for this, I was getting bored doing only one workout! I'm going to try this right now and see if it helps me get gorgeous for my dress at my brother's wedding :)

  • I guess this can't be considered to replace normal workouts. I know you said it's specially recommended for travelers and to have at home and so on, but if you (in this case me) have the opportunity to go gym, I guess it's much better? to gain muscle etc u know

  • TRX is awesome, Its a great shock to your system after 6-8 weeks of doing the same old grind. And anyone worth their salt and has some basic fitness knowledge knows that you have to change your program every once in a while to create confusion and continue growth.

  • @Majikasian they are for beginners as scott said the intensity of each exercise just depends on where u position yourself.. so if your more athletic just position your body lower to increase the intensity

  • @Majikasian: No it's not. I use it at my gym and bought on for home use. I'm 59 and overweight. This is for all levels. I use the TRX in additions to the machines. It's really helped. I love it.

  • my trainer JUST today introduced me to TRX. He trained me with it during one of our sessions. Now given I'm almost 300lbs but I loved it. I definitely know I'm getting one of these soon. I literally felt it within seconds of starting. And it was my first day so we only did squats, 1 legged squats, chest presses and body rows. Can't wait to get it and really start using it

  • Technically you get more resistance doing a standardized push-up then you do with this.

  • this is good but it is not worth the price, check out the "Body by Jake - Tower 200" or "Weider X Factor" for the same price they are much better and you need less space

  • no.. you dont need a ton of space to do the exercise... but to film.. yes.. you need more space

  • Great video, Scott. Thanks for posting. I wanted to order the TRX to work out at home, but it seems like you need A LOT of room to work with it. It doesn't seem like something you could do in your bedroom, unless you've got a huge bedroom. Also, how do you get this to attach to a door?

  • if you do a full body workout, your not suppose to work out the next day, you have to give your muscles rest so it can repair, thats why alot of people workout a diff body part each day, like 3-5 days in a week
