Just one question: Is Nathan doing flutter kicks when his head is in the water too ("purely shoulder driven butterfly")? Does shoulder driven butterfly, in general, imply using a flutter kick (resulting in the flatter stroke) - or a normal body dolphin (albeit flatter) - as per the drill in this video?
Awesome drill, by the way! Thanks for sharing!!
Love your hilarious yet immensely inspiring channel. :D
@leongkj231 The flutter kick allows you to keep you head up. When your head is up it helps practice connecting your scapula muscles together. In shoulder driven fly, the swimmer wants to come straight down on the water with no long glide forward. To answer you question: shoulder driven fly is done with a fly kick, but the flutter kick is a great way to learn and strengthen your scapula muscles.
Thanks for the props! Athletovation and Club Wolverine are run by the same people. Check us out!
