  • Where do you get that rope!?! I've been looking and all I can find is big ass spools of it online. I only need about that much, 50 ft, not 500 ft.

  • UFC and rugby players dont do dumbell curls............... Oh dear....

Lets just hop you never get asked to train any good ones thats all I say.

p.s. "explosive power" training does not last 56 seconds! And you call me ignorant. Just stick with what works buddy, you will get more medals that way.

  • You think far too much like a body builder. I have plenty of medals BTW and competed at national level. Your scienific stuff that you learned at college cripples the fitness industry.

Again, I state that you have never tried these ropes so why can you comment on them??????

  • Never done bodybuilding in my life.

And I have never stood on a BOSU ball whilst juggling dumbells either but I can still tell you its wrong.

  • Mind you juggling dumbells on a Bosu ball would look quite impressive (LOL)and you would have to be strong and coordinated to do it. Good training for a circus act and who's going to argue with a cirque du soleil athlete.

  • Typically a UFC fighter (who requires explosive power) will do 4 to 5, 5 minute circuits in training using Quad-Plexes. Exercises will include batting ropes, medicine ball throw downs, kettlebell snatches/swings and burpees. Not a 1RM dumbell curl insight. Horses for courses.

  • Come on buddy, im sure you know better than this deep down...

You want to take some pro athletes, get them to hold a big rope in each hand, and wiggle them up and down as fast as possible for 56 seconds... then tell us its developing explosive power in their elbow flexors??

I dont care if bruce lee did it, its not an efficient way to train.

  • But pro athletes are using it. Suggest you check it out. Also have a go at the exercise, you'll be shocked - hits the whole core. You can use the exercise in a tabata too, use alt arms or sim rope snaps. Watch your power endurance levels go through the roof.

I trained with the 1988 Olympic Judo team that went to south Korea.

  • Battling Ropes are also being used by numerous American football teams such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, United States Olympic Wrestling Team, UFC fighters, Special Forces, Federal Agents, Olympians, College and Pro-Athletes. Battling Ropes creator John Brookfield is know as Mr Hands for having the strongest grip in the world a world record holder.

But I suppose you know better?

  • You should have remained true to your name Weazel and be silent. I guess you nevr attempted this. I started rope work a few weeks ago. It is perfect with my kettlebell work. My arms feel like they will fall off my body after a workout. Forget curls, this workout is a full arm killer. Great for the core too

  • lol ok buddy. Ropes and kettle bells all in one workout! Wow, you must be strong and training a whole host of olympians right now.

  • I'm very strong thank you and I don't train Olympians- why would I? You are dim aren't you

  • What a pile of crap... You would have to pay me to do that!

  • @SilentWeazel don't knock anything until you've tried it. Battling ropes are tough and in a a different league to dumbell curls.

The all Black Rugby team use this.

  • Your right there, a very different league to dumbell curls!

Hey, as they are so superior to dumbells, why not show me some eccentric loading on them... No wait, show me how they relate to your 1RM... No, how about how you overload the movement to stimulate the different different fibre types... Oh thats right, you cant do any of that. But at least the gym in the video looks happy making pretty patterns with them ay!

  • Crucially UFC fighters, professional rugby players etc etc don't use dumbell curls. And by the way your write you have never tried battling ropes so why would you comment on something you know nothing about?

You keep doing your 1RM curls which don't involve explosve power and leave the tough stuff to the rest of us. Luckely the western gym caters for ignorant morans like you.

  • @MikeEves1 I tired it, yes it burns but so what? Fly swatting for half an hour would burn your shoulder but it doesnt carry over to performance on the field or in the ring.
