lol...Great movie, indeed. ;) Would like to see you at CMA Fest again! (And GAC should CARRY the Riverfront shows again too!) That block of performances with you, Billy Ray, and Eric Heatherly all three was a hard one to follow.
Yeah....a born show-off if ever there was one; did you read that bit in his bio about how age 10 he blasted his church congregation with some song EIGHT TIMES IN A ROW?! Wow - such an indulgent crowd...can't you just see this kid grabbing the limelight won't budge won't quit just yelling the same toon out over and over again at the top of his lungs...WHAT a little limelight-hogger he must've been!!!
(Good job he's acquired a few performance skills since then...)
...come to think of it; yeah, i bet he WAS!! One of those totally unselfconscious kids, carried away by the moment/experience, too young to realise everyone was amused and indulging the kid...cute as hell, really!!!
...but it's a common error to confuse 'producing' with 'directing' (& plenty of people do both!), so don't feel bad...fact is, i've worked with some very good directors, so UNLIKE half the people (on UTube?!?) who seem to think that picking up a video camera & pressing the 'on' button constitutes 'directing', i know what's involved - & so know enough to know i don't have a gift for it! ( e.g. I'm currently working with an Oscar-winning director, so how would i match up?!)
ah, if you ever saw some of my videos you'd die... I got one of my family in Miami.... terribe... but i'm pretty funny with my b/h the scenes comments..
I'm terrible with a motion camera... ok with a still one...
Yeah i bet i would or more accurately, go into a total tizzy-fit about it & go on & on about 'low standards' & so on an so forth...as you may have noticed, i'm not exactly CASUAL about the things i care about (& of course have tolerated a lifetime of people-who-DON'T-care telling me i'm 'too sensitive' &/or 'need to lighten up'...which just ticks me all the more!!!)
;)
'To Each His/Her Own' - when you care passionately about something, that passion becomes a fact & a force to be reckoned with...
- GOOD POINT; also, a point well taken, m'dear...because it reminds me what friends (including my ex!!) occasionally point out to me, i.e. OTHER PEOPLE DON'T SEE THE WORLD THROUGH YOUR EYES (= DON'T SEE WHAT YOU DO)!! But i always forget that! & then i get upset ('oh what like isn't that OBVIOUS?!?' kind of attitude)...which means i got 'all upset' over NUTHIN'!! Good call. People have a right to make slip-shod home-made movies if it makes them happy!...
...or write/sing/perform some sub-standard song IF that's what turns 'em on...BUT if they put them up on UTube, oh well then - prepare to be held to the same standard as the pros!!! (Or at least NOT to be offended if someone like me comes along & says coo-er-gosh-boyoboy your song/performance/video SUCKS!!!)
;)
(...which BTW is why the only work/co-work by moi on UTube is stuff i can stand by=no home-made videos of/for me!!)
Which brings me to the thought that at SOME point, UTube will have to start some sort of organisational system, so as to separate pro videos from home-made ramblings, etc! Thinking about the fact that half the stuff on my music site IS home-recorded - 'cause i figure it's about the SONG...but then again, some of my songs are 'proper recordings' & many of the artists there are ONLY posting 'proper' recordings - & perhaps they're right & I'm wrong...'cause that's the ONLY way to showcase, y'know?
Honestly it's like here on utube the amateurs pretty much rule here.. I mean there are MAJOR label artists that have less subscribers than the amateurs.. the pianists, the singers.. all amateurs.. but look at the number of subscribers...
yeah, this is an amateurs arena.. people like to believe their discovering someone...
that's why Utube is SO successful! I think google bought it from those 2 guys for like 8billion dollars...
and yes, a lot of it is nuts...or done by nuts.. or nutcases.
but I DO love the live music that's put up by the amateurs.. there's lots and lots of... maybe it's subpar.. but subpar is better than nothing at all...
...and of course, there's PLENTY of sub-par music/songs being put out by the majors, all dressed up in a fancy package & marketed the hell out of so's folks'll buy it!! You're right, of course; better sub-par than nuthin'...& better to at least HAVE a forum for SUBSTANCE to be posted..which costs NOTHING to use..than be boxed in/'held to ransom' by the major labels...who used to have ALL the power, period!
OK so we agree; home-made videos=check! BUT THAT STILL LEAVES ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT!
OK so i admit i have an 'eye': For me, 'being creative' (?!) comes completely naturally (ask my Mum!!! - she once said - in that airy way of hers when describing her 'unusual daughter' (i'll leave you to figure out THAT one but it basically boils down to... 'less than an English rose'...!!!) - 'Oh, yes, she was ALWAYS busy with something or other, since she was VERY young...making this, doing that, asking for paper or paints or empty toilet rolls - she was SO creative, it was AWFUL!')
Any reason why the camera angle is compressed? It 'squishes' the visual (in this case, JS's face!!!). I'm guessing that's a problem with the download/software but maybe not/maybe fixable..?
Also be nice to add a little 'red tone' to the whole since all that blue is washing out the shade of his skin so that he comes dangerously close to looking as though he might be ingesting something a little stronger than canned soup?!?

yeah, directing must be pretty tough, that's for sure!
but see, you work behind a camera.. not literally but you're there... that's where you get that 'eye', for directing.

Right I think anyone in any profession maybe very sensitive to what they know, and what they know is being done WRONG>.
I just have not clue.. looks good to me.. it would have to be something obvious, for me to notice...
