I have to say that is a beautiful figure but I have to go with the Amazon Exclusive version for the fact that its box is its own display box (clear plastic windows) plus its price is unbeatable. Also its Paint Scheme is pretty dead on, In the movie right when he is transforming to robot mode he does have these dark shadows of a blue tint on his body, then when he is being destroyed and i guess the lighting is different he is the EXACT color your Takara version is. Jus copped the newest one from hasbro 2011 Unicron! I paid 89.99$ plus shipping was like 130$. I never bothered with unicron bc the original toy came out after I was done with transformers and on to girls,like all boys do or should do! I already have armada Unicron, but no Primus figure and I will probably only be able to buy one of these guys. which would you recommend if I already have armada Unicron. Cause I've heard takara Unicron is better than the takara Primus, but I have never owned a Primus figure.

@SaintBEEP really...the new unicron figure is designed to look more accurate in robot mode to how he looked in the original animated movie. It depends on what you grew up with and what you like. I grew up with the animated movie...so i love having an accurate looking unicron to that model. People that grew up watching armada seem to not like it, cause it changes how the unicron they grew up with looks...if that makes sense. The takara primus is designed to make the planet mode look better

I have the Armada Unicron and based on the appearance here, I prefer him. The main appeal of the re-issue in this review is all the detail, which the Armada version has, but the new head, while very G1 in design, doesn't reflect that level of detail. In fact, if you step back and take a more objective look at the overall figure, it's kind of apparently mismatched. I'll be happy to stick by my figure, order some labels from Repro, and maybe do some custom painting one day!

I only see two differences between the "Armada / 2008 Universe version" and the "2010 version": 1) the new head mold and 2) the overall repaint on the 2010 version. Everything else stays the same.

So if you don't have any of these versions, then buying the "2010 version" is worth it. Otherwise, it will be a waste of cash if you already own any of the previous versions since the new one doesn't offer anything substantially new.

I have to agree with you here, this is THE Unicron to get. My only gripe is the led light is still red while the eyes themselves are green. If I could if I was you I'd replace the led for a green one if it's possible to trully complete the G1 feel. With the remolded head and new paint job he's so much nicer then either the Armada or Universe versions of this toy. Great review.

I just got mine a few days ago and I already replaced it with my Armada Unicron in display. Looks awesome. However, I noticed the plastic quality isn't as great if you really look close. Some parts are not well matched when it's combined. U could see little gaps in between where the plastic parts combine. In my opinion, it should cost a bit less than how much it's sold TFsource cost.

I think maybe kozar was talking about the red squares on his "abs", because in the '86 movie they light up all glowing red when Unicron finished transforming into his robot mode. So I guess transparent red plastic would mimmick that a little better. But the clear chest pieces were probably all on the same part of the mould, so it wouldn't be possible to have some bits clear and others not.
