The STi like the Evo runs a closed loop fueling system. Under light throttle/normal driving it should get about the same gas mileage regardless of turbo or injector size. Turbo cars in general while in vacuum should actually get pretty good gas mileage as a turbo atomizes air. My STi runs a pte6262 and huge injectors...daily driving it still gets the same gas mileage as always. Now under heavy throttle is a different story.

to princepersia1.... idk about this sti but mine is pushing 600hp and when keeping the vacuum at 10 (not stepping on it) i can get 20mpg at the least. do you wanna know why? its the big ass turbo that saves your gas cause you hardly boost. and yes for a daily driver it is amazing. 2.5l doesnt mean anything

I think it has built internals. I've seen a lot of the Dynoflash vids and they seem to keep it around 450whp (roughly 525 engine hp) on the stock STi bottom end for reliability (if it were my STi, i'd do more like 375 whp max stock bottom end). Thats what I like about big Al, he likes nice meaty hp and torque curve instead of going for peak hp.

Can you ever get full traction on full power? That would be kind of a let down and hows the fuel economy I know people will say its not for fuel economy but I mean the new 911 Turbo uses less fuel while making more power and Porsche spend millions on research. How's the STI's economy at 550hp? Also how's the reliability daily driven do you have any problems because getting 550hp from a 2.5L is ALOT.

@princepersia1 the reason they were having taction issues at first is because the tires were cold. but i had problems keeping my tires stuck to the road with my old 35r setup. i was only around 430ish to the wheels. this guy is 115 hp more than that. a decent suspension and some good tires and it shouldnt be a huge problem.

@princepersia1 oh yeah wider tires make a world of difference. the porshe probably comes with 265/45/18s or something crazy wide like that. where as the sti only comes with a 225/45/17. my fuel milage is actually improved when i had my 35r. it did about 22mpg around town. obviously if you were beating the hell out of it, it was only getting 13mpg lol. but see the reason i didnt go for some crazy exotic car was A. parts/ease of service. and B. subarus are more reliable.

Are you serious 22 mpg? How much were you running four hundred and something hp I think that's alright. I guess if you shift early and not let the turbo spool up it help which is kind of a plus for turbo cars. Can you run 245's on the back and 235 on the front?

@princepersia1 yeah if you just stay out of the boost your fuel milage isnt bad :) i wouldnt suggest running 2 different tire sizes on any AWD car. you can go wider, but they should all be the same.
