  • The same old bullshit arguement... what is more effective in the street??? Gi or No-Gi... To all you idiots that go on and on about this bullshit ... Brazilian Jiu jitsu is a martial art and a sport. Its not a Street fighting method, like MMA whereby proving which are the most effective martial Arts in REAL LIFE SITUATION... the way that BJJ would be used in real life is CONTROL and POSTION DOMINATION when fighting(wildly)on the floor ... GI / NOGI it Doesnt matter.. 'Gi chokes on floor'.. HAha

  • My question is, What belt is this guy? He fails to mount one intelligent defence in 4:30 minutes

  • @mitchhatfield68 The upload date is 2008, and according to other videos from 2008, this guy Galdi was said to be a blue belt at the time. Joe had tons of experience compared to him, so its pretty easy to see why Joe owned his so easily.

Joe started BJJ in 1996, under the late Carlson Gracie before moving on to Jean Jacques Machado and eventually Eddie Bravo. Joe got his brown belt from Machado in October 2007. Just too much knowledge and skill from Joe for the other guy to handle.

  • @mitchhatfield68 you're an idiot. joe is way bigger than him and had or has two belts on him. joe was controlling his head the entire time.

  • My question is, What belt is this guy? He fails to mount one intelligent defence in 4:30 minutes

  • No-gi can be used anytime..no matter what the opponent is wearing... Gi can be used when they are wearing jackets or long sleeve shirts.(with the exception of tshirts only on certain gi chokes).. so yes, both work in real life situations. And i assume if someone trained in the gi went to the ground in a street fight..they arent going to go "step 1:grab the sleeve..wait! no sleeve?! all of my jiujitsu is useless!!" im sure they'll still be alright. lol. any kind of jiujitsu > not knowing anything

  • @TheGoalSetter - You are a dumbass.

  • I know that JJ requires a lot of conditioning, technique, intelligence, patience, etc.

    BUT IT IS STILL GAY.

Grappling is valid part of a total martial art system, but those that focus mostly on JJ are probably gay. In fact, all athletes, in general, lead perverse gay lifestyles: all about domination and contact with other men...but especially grapplers. Thus, all the machoism...defensive much?

You do know that lots of guys jack off to guys tapping...probably the dude you roll with.

  • @TheGoalSetter Your right. Now go do something.

  • @TheGoalSetter Not everyone's homophobic, just because you think it implies homosexuality doesn't mean it's gay.

  • @TheGoalSetter people like you should NEVER: smoke, drink, or fuck. only suicide.

  • @TheGoalSetter Fucking idiot... All I have to say.

  • @TheGoalSetter I will speak as if your point had any merit. Erotic attraction (machoism) to males by other males does not, by any means, denote homosexuality. You are either gay or you're not, but you can surely decide you choose to sleep with. These men may be attracted to each other, and to themselves, but it does not mean that they lead gay, perverse lifestyles.

Consider that bisexuality is a mental apathy for any specific gender, and you may be able to comprehend my stance a little better.

  • @MindOfPagan you need to look at a dictionary, machoism isnt erotic attraction to anything.Erotic attraction to another man generally would be faggotry in anyones language. How the fuck would you be attracted to yourself?

  • @TheGoalSetter Obvious TROLL is fucking Obvious

  • First few seconds told me this kid was going to lose. What the fuck are you doing jumping into guard? It's like saying " I give up, please beat the crap out of me." Maintain dominant position ALWAYS. He was fine when he was tied up with joe but he was either ignorant of how to control someone in a tie up, so stupid he thought he could jump into some magic guard victory move , lazy or all of the above. You pick

  • @jujitsuJerk word. i dislike guard for that reason. youll just get your face beat on in MMA, no matter how slick your guard is, and controlled in BJJ if the guy has half a brain. top position is best, but definitely work on sweeps from guard, and a few submissions like omo's, triangles and such, but you cant rely on just having a slick guard anymore

  • @maxsteelee That's the problem with modern day MMA. People realized that and instead of trying to get better off their back, they do what you said. If you just know a few sweeps and some submissions, then you're going to get your clock cleaned. If you're a guard ninja, it'l be less of a disadvantage. I'm an advocate of a specialty submissions, especially off your back. Look at Fedor's armbar, Overeem's guillition, and Palhares's heel hook.I agree with you, but it's pointless to have an OK guard

  • @BHanson41z true true

  • is there any footage of joe grappling someone his size or bigger? im not impressed by this

  • @maxsteelee he was a four time taekwon do champion and then went on to beat the heavyweight middleweight champs when he was ages 15 to 19

  • @djpuffycube um. what? most TKD competitions are laughable

  • @maxsteelee i think i see whats going on here. you think that if someone isnt getting their face pounded in then it sucks. until you know whats actually going on in the matches i dont blame you for thinking that but take some jj classes and roll with even a yellow belt and maybe you'll understand.

  • @djpuffycube umm, no man. i think we got off on the wrong foot. i like joe rogan, i just would like to see him against an equal or bigger sized opponent to judge his skillset. and thanks for the bjj tips. i come from a wrestling background, i train bjj on and off. i can smash smaller blue belts just with size, all im saying is this isnt really showcasing joe's full abilities

  • @djpuffycube Yellow belt? It's painfully clear that you don't train BJJ.

  • @greatestxgift if its a kid then he could have a yellow belt. Its the third belt for kids.

  • @greatestxgift you dont train yourself then because all under 16s wear yellow ,orange and green before they get to senior level and then get the normal colours

  • @billysue2 Did you even read the comment I was replying to? The person stated, "take some jj classes and roll with even a yellow belt and maybe you'll understand"...so why would you understand BJJ if you roll with a little kid? If you were making a point about understanding what BJJ is all about, I think it's painfully clear you'd use someone who is not a kid as better suited example, don't you think? If you have no idea what you're talking, then please refrain from leaving ignorant comments.

  • This clip should be called "Joe Rogan+Anthony Galdi 4-ever", Lol!!

  • was that a face lock for the fist tap?

  • it'd be cool to see rogan rolling but not when it was recorded on a cell phone from the early to mid 90s :(

  • I recorded this through a pair of binocluars and then at the end of those binoculars I placed a piece of old glass I found in my great great grandfathers attic window. To top it off I figured that the best ingredient to make it a top quality video would be to smother the lenses with mayonaise and dead ants. I hope you enjoy!

  • how can u be given a brown belt if you dont wear a gi lol

  • @nkyryry LOL, haha, haha hehe. You confine your or anybody elses skills to a wrapping uniform called a Gi?

  • Say what you want about self defence and Rubber Guard, but I be Eddie could beat all of your asses without throwing a punch.

  • Wow Joe that was a nice pass!

  • APE STRENGTH.

  • gi makes you rely on handles, go no gi all the way. but it is nice to learn a few gi chokes. you can transition them into no gi with your legs as a handle

  • Gawd DAAAAAYMN, Joe's a Gorilla!!!! APE shit right here. :D

  • my fav. choke i didnt see Joe use any of that 10th planet rubber guard shit

  • MMgAy.

  • @deeeznuts00 homophobe...

  • ruthless leg lock to setup choke

  • MMA is certainly not useless when it comes to self-defense but the two training dynamics are different. My jujutsu instructor is the head Muay Thai instructor, and a two-striped purple belt in BJJ under Marco Delima. He's told me on numerous occasions that his jujutsu training is always his frontline for defense.. not to say anything else wouldn't work for him, but that seperates 'beating someone up' and 'taking someone out'. He keeps his jujutsu class realistic enough for trained fighters.

  • Taking someone out and beating someone up is a totally different dynamic - like I said.. MMA isn't useless in my opinion, but to train it full time for the average person seeking self-defense skills is ignoring the differences between the two dynamics. BJJ basics should be taught, no doubt, because of how many people training the art nowadays.

  • not to mention eddies teacher j.j. machado and others but yeah he's done more in bjj than I will ever do. Truth be told I'd love to smoke up and roll with him and learn new things, i just don't agree with everything he does but thats not really a reason for me to hate on him, good luck with your training dude.

  • he gives out belts of other colors too theres videos of him promoting people on youtube. 10th planet bjj is not respected by top bjj players period. i respect his hustle and his accomplishments but i don't respect the people who think 10th planet is the be all end all. there are so many better teachers and schools out there.

  • Looks like that 110 lb dude gave Joe Rogain a hard time. What happend to the tough guy?

  • For those who say people don't wear a gi on the street yeah thats true but people still wear jackets in winter last time I checked. a jacket with a zipper would be a lot nastier to use against. I enjoy no gi wrestling as well but I still prefer wrestling with the gi on. There is no right or wrong to wear a gi or not it's just personal choice. you're missing out on some awesome lapel chokes by not wearing one though.

  • ppl need to give joe some credit hes actually for real

  • Eddie Bravo's system is really good for MMA in my opinion. Not as good for self-defense.. I think his notion of getting rid of the gi is stupid, but still.. he's a talented dude, regardless.

  • getting rid of the gi is stupid, with the huge number of people now wearin a gi to compete in mma.

  • @ZMellinger So MMA is the only reason to study BJJ? You're an easy win, I won't even bother with you.

  • do bjj guys walk around wearing a gi as street clothes?

  • @ZMellinger Anything you can do with a gi, you can do with street clothes.. I've done chokes with simple cotton t-shirts. Think before you type, sir.

  • why would there even be no gi bjj if thats true?

    marketing scam?

    think before YOU type, sir.

  • You're truly not that bright. Why? For competition, genius. Like I said originally, you're an easy win.

  • That's a pretty durable cotton t shirt.

  • bang on!!

  • @richp860 How could it be good for MMA and not self defense? The techniques used in MMA are more applicable to self defense on the street than any other form of Martial Art. I'm all for preserving traditions but Eddie Bravo's no gi techniques improved the jui-jitsu used in MMA and made his gym famous. How is that "stupid" as you put it?

  • The fact that you said MMA techniques are the most applicable self-defense techniques is reason enough to not even engage you.. you're utterly wrong and have been stooped by the entire MMA movement. MMA is not combat, it is combat sport.. MMA isn't useless, but it's hardly what you'd want to train for self-defense.

  • @richp860 mma doesnt have to be for competetion. if you train for competition cool but say if i trained in boxing as a kid and then bjj n muay thai. maybee a little latter took krav maga. thats MIXED MARTIAL ARTS because im MIXING different styles and you would be good at self defence.

  • The term MMA is generally reserved for the sport, but by definition you're correct.

  • @richp860 Wearing a gi is stupid. (Yes I did Karate and BJJ, I've worn many).

We all saw what Sakuraba did with Royce Gracie's gi.

  • Lol, the gi is far from stupid kid. The best in the world come from the gi. Roger Gracie, Braulio Estima, Robert Drysdale, Demian Maia, Ronaldo "Jacare" Desouza, Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro. No Gi makes you sloppy. Eddie Bravo praises Marcelo Garcia, but he even said in his Arte Suave interveiw that he only trains one day out of the week without the gi. Royce isn't near the top level. Sakuraba couldn't beat Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

  • @Snoochy2006 I would say the gi makes you sloppy. People dont wear gi in the street (or the ring anymore). You can't lapel grab someone with no shirt. The gi is a traditional thing. Good for those who really like the traditions and such, but MMA is the no.1 form of fighting now. The days of BJJ ruling the cage are long gone. You must have have an all round game.

  • @13expose13 i would say training both is good as in a street fight gi chokes can be used on jackets etc

  • @13expose13 the gi makes you more conscientious of your defenses, just like no-gi forces you to be more precise in your offense.

  • I agreed 100%. Don't talk junk unless you train bjj; gi or without. The only thing you forgot to mention is Saulo Ribeiro. He's pretty awesome.

  • @spacetranaut he also forgot silvio behring, also one of the best in the world right now

  • @richp860 Its great for self-defense. But BJJ/10th Planet JJ is only useful against one attacker. If you fight someone on the street one on one, and he isn't wear a GI and you pull on his shirt or something...you'll most likely rip his shirt and lose your control over him. The rubber guard doesn't allow for him to posture as easy...and land some bad strikes on your face. In my opinion, it offers the most control you can get over someone who isn't wearing a gi.

  • @richp860 I've heard him say both things: To get rid of the gi, and also to just have nogi for mma but keep the gi as another form. I think he means to get rid of it for MMA but not completely get rid of it in general, people still wear shirts on the streets and I'm sure it is very handy in the streets. But for sure hands down nogi is better for MMA, big nog has talked about this many times according to bravo

  • @richp860 watch george sotiropoulos' last fight with pellegrino

  • @richp860 I agree. In a real street fight on concrete when you're wearing jeans, I don't think you're going to want to try and get your attacker in the rubber guard.

  • @MLee1692 Exactly. Tactical ground fighting is so different than what people are taught in grappling classes. It's quick, dirty, ruthless and focuses on disengagement.

  • @richp860 we just had some marines join our school... and they thought they would do well beause of the training

    its a diff game

im atleast 15 kilos lighter then them and it was easy to tap them

but put me in body armour strapped with a bunch of gear and a side arm on my hip and i would have no idea what to do!

id prob roll around like a turtle flipped upside down!!

  • @richp860 Actually training without gi will get you more prepared for a self defense situation as you will not use the gi outside of the dojo. No-gi Jiu Jitsu is my absolute favourite because you can only use your body. If you are going to choke someone with your belt you might just as well bring a wire or a garrote to the grappling session.

  • @TylerDurdenK7

No gi is far more unrealistic in terms of self-defense than training with a gi.

  • @smashmydick How is that? Please break it down for me and describe why.

  • @TylerDurdenK7 they both apply saying no gi or with gi are superior to other is limiting you game. As a soldier confronting other I'm more likely to go to hand to hand with someone with gear... heavy clothing, coats etc etc....ppl just dont run around in the cold ass mountains with a t shirt on.....

  • @timlproc Haha good point ; ) Still I would say No Gi is better for preparation so you don't rely too much on your opponent wearing a coat or something like that. If some street thug attacks you for example you will be more comfortable being used to fighting without the privilege of a Gi.

  • @TylerDurdenK7 I prefer No GI myself but maybe it's just my opinion but Nogi is more of a sport combat thing. Rarely have I not been grabbed by my clothing in a fight. I can't recall the last time someone gable, plum, rubber guard me in a street fight or seen someone. Only place NoGi would happen for me would be on the beach : /..

  • @timlproc and jiu jitsu with the gi is? what situation would anyone need a gi in beside in a dojo.

  • @lilsm555 unless you are retarded youd realise the gi is a substitute for traditional jap clothing and so can be used with anything loose and durable like jackets worn in many palces for much of the year

  • @timlproc if theyre wearing a shirt or t shirt ,thats no gi isnt it?That would be virtually all the time in many parts of the world.Nobody is going to use any guard on the street,it doesnt exist unles theyre trained

  • @richp860 Why is it stupid to get rid of the GI? He's doing JJ for MMA.

  • i think it depends on what your training for. reference to the gi comment

  • eddie bravo told already how much marcelo garcia is stronger and better than him..when eddie chocked out royler he was just a purple belt, if someone who disrespect him can do the same ok, put yourself on you tube, we everybody want to see that..and he was an AMATEUR jiu jitsu competitor and he still is, because his real job is the music producer, he never stated he is a superchampion..he began training bjj when he was 27, marcelo, telles, jacare', they began when they were 12-13 y.o.

  • that knee compression sittin thing was sick joe rogan is clutch

  • lol it only took joe 6 seconds to pass his gaurd

  • Is this kid a White belt Joe is going against cause it sure seems like it. Either that or Joe is a Beast on the mat lol which i'm sure is the latter of the two.

  • damn joe sure kicked that teenage twinks ass. i knew joe was gonna try to 69 him. eddie taught him that move.

  • All the experts on YouTube once again...any of you guys ever rolled with Joe? If you haven't, you don't really know shit about him now do you?

  • Lol let them talk their shit it's hilarious to read at times. Joe is massive he would dominate.

  • man some of these comments are retarded. joe weighs about 160 or 170 lbs, i've seen up close a bunch of times. and come on, everyone knows he's a legit brown belt. you may think eddy bravo is an ass hole, but he doesn't bullshit. if he says joe is a brown belt then he's a brown belt.

further more whether you use a gi or not, you still give rank in belt colors.

  • who thinks eddie bravo is an asshole? bravo is a G, dude basically invented a whole new system for BJJ, his rubber guard is fucking amazing hell he beta royler gracie with it

  • he beat royler with a basic triangle set up with wrist control, something he says people rely too much on hmm

  • he set it up using rubber guard watch the match the last 5 minuets, royler thought he was going for rubber guard

  • no he was regaining guard and grabbed the wrist, had it for a few seconds and slipped in the triangle. he swept him from half guard but it was pretty much it. the lock down and the twister series are the best stuff in 10th planet. rubber guard works against someone with weak posture and and poor fundamentals. i dont give a fuck how good ur crack head control is i will explode out of it. its working in competition now against people who don't know the system but it wont for long

  • bullshit watch the full thing that was a rubber guard transition to a triangle, and people said the same shit about brazilian jiu jitsu that it will never be useful, they said the gracies will never amount to anything ...still works, 10th planet jiu jitsu is the future of jiu jitsu especially in mma, if u cant take a punch it is the perfect system, it limits ur opponents attacks to nothing and gives u a chance at submissions and strikes without the risk of ur opponent throwing strikes

  • wow are u serious can you not see the wrist control you're the one who needs to watch it. i use rg, lockdown, twister and other stuff in 10th planet but there's so much out there and different things work for different people. i just don't like how people fucking swing from his dick all the time. like..well you. but i gotta give it to him he's caking off it so watever

  • oh dude get over yourself. Shinya Aoki has successfully used the rubber guard against fighters versed in Judo, nobody has better posture than a Judo-ka. It helps you from getting ground and pounded in used properly, I'm barely getting the hang of it and I can already see it's benefits. Just give him his props and stop acting like you know more than he does.

  • fuckin corny dog read I wrote it works but the dudes a clown and he's hardly revolutionizing jj so many people out there have so much stuff to offer but they all come to this guy becuase he's posted all over youtube and handing out belts when then dont even wear gis its fuckin stupid go read marcelo garcias xguard book or eduardo telles turtle guard or jeff glover half guard these people are so much more accomplished..aokis a beast and others have used gogoplatas and rubber guard too

  • The belt is just to show how far you've come in his lessons. But yeah I do sub. wrestling so we don't really care about belts. Dude believe me, I've been watching Marcelo Garcia grapple for years now, that dude is a fucking genius, and Eddie Bravo gives Garcia his props and talks about how great he is. Ahaha nice one, you just mentioned Aoki being a beast? guess who taught Aoki his rubber guard? YUP EDDIE BRAVO!

  • who the fuck cares, he was fighting a Gracie, you use anything you can against that kind of opponent, real martial artists don't hold back in competition. He saw an opening for a triangle and he went for it, that simple.

  • you're missing the point I hate it when that happens.

  • lol well sorry dude, but I'm sure he could care less if you hate what he says.

  • @khopskins still a ligit move. if the opertunity presents itself why would ne one pass it up? hes just said there not that high precentage

  • @perdedor3571 what are you talking about?

  • @khopskins i may have replyed to the wrong person. somone was saying i hate how eddie bravo used a triangle to submit gracie. or smothing to that effect.

  • @perdedor3571 no the debate was on how he set up the triangle. no one said triangles are low percentage

  • @wallcup1 actually i heard in one interview that joe walks around 190... heavy stocky dude....

  • People think just because you don't use open guard or x-guard your not a top level BJJ player. Look at Pablo Popavitch.

  • joe rogan is the man!

  • it looks like he's fighting some frail ass 16 year old and teaching him jiu jitsu... does not look like a brown belt to me

  • go to his myspace and challenge him to a fight, i'm sure he wouldn't mind showing you how much a brown belt he is, then he can post it on youtube for all of us to enjoy.

  • like you know shit stfu, your gonna judge a persons skills from a 4 min clip. you dont know when this happened, you dont know if joes going light on him.... you dont know shit! judging from your vid that chick could be the hell out of you man :D! joes been doing jiu jitsu for 9 years now, under a wizard like Bravo, joe is legit and has been for a long time, and i cant wait for joe to get his black belt!

  • no hate but rogan doesnt have very good commentary when it comes to bjj, he says a lot of stuff that isnt even close to the proper form like in ufc 100 when it came to the thiago v fitch fight head and arm? no way...he deos strong man bjj..no skill he just uses his strength, no disrespect.....just my personal opinion

  • You have to remember that UFC isn't just BJJ... It's MMA, which includes wrestling... "head and arm" is a proper name in wrestling. He's not just a BJJ commentator. He's an MMA commentator. There are a few more of his rolls on YT. You can see that he does have some skills... But I'm not so sure he's a black belt (or shirt, for 10thP) level for real. As for his other martial arts, yes... Definitely deserves the black belt.

  • @bantekiatgmaildotcom he isnt even a purple belt level in bjj let alone a black belt. he may have a black belt in 10th planet but if he entered a tournament as a blackbelt he would get dominated.

  • @carlsongracieteam he has a brown belt.... dont kid yourself Joe knows what he is doing...

  • @75ehwtcv he has a brown belt in eddie bravo in american jiu jitsu. but in bjj he isnt even a purple belt level. and if he tried to compete at a brown belt level in a bjj tournament he would surely be dominated. not sure if u know how technical a purple belt and higher is. but there isnt alot of difference between most purple belts and most black belts. they've all been doing it 7 years + in most cases. unless ur bj penn then u become a black belt in 3 years...

  • @carlsongracieteam no offence man... btw i love your screen name i love the carlson team guys, but the way i see it... its the fact he is a brown belt in the 10th planet system that makes him able to compete with other brown belts.... Thats not to say he is as good... but i know tons of brown belts who simply do not know the fucked up shit Rogan prolly uses from bravo... i think he would tap them not through skill but from the fact they dont know the proper rubber guard and such counters...

  • @75ehwtcv nah eddie bravo hands out a brown belt after only 2-3 years at his place (joe rogan got his in 2 years) the average gracie barra takes around 10 years to get a brown belt going 5 days a week.. and as far as tapping the rubber guard actually has really no significant attacks from it. u can attack with a gogoplata (wont work on a high level guy) omoplata (wont work on a high level guy) and a triangle and armbar. wont work on a high level guy. there is no good sweeps 4 attacks.

  • @carlsongracieteam You have a better chance of catching people with those submissions while playing rubber guard. You can put your opponent in a bad position much easier....rather than waiting for him to make a mistake with the regular guard. And as far as sweeps, I suggest you read his book "Mastering the rubber guard". or check out Submissions 101 on youtube.

  • @Viperguy896 i have gone to sub 101 before but dude. rubber guard is no different than walking up a high guard with your legs.. the only difference is with walking a high guard u cant get stacked as easily and you have both arms to use. while going into mission control, zombie, new york or any other rubber guard position all you really can do is break the guy down. u can go for a gogoplata low success rate. a triangle which would be hard. and an omoplata low success rate.

  • @carlsongracieteam actually, the armbar and triangle are really easy to get. I started doing BJJ and I'm catching everyone left and right with it. And the rubber guard system has many counters to being stacked. There is a lot of sweeps from it. And yeah the omoplata has a low success rate, but the rubber guard system has plans for that. You can control your opponents roll out of the sub and land in side control. I do believe that you should have BJJ as base...then 10th Planet JJ(Rubber Guard).

  • @Viperguy896 umm the armbar isnt even really an option the hip rotation in order to get it isnt even there. not to mention rubber guard is extremely easy to pass because there is no hip rotation at all. bro go roll against someone with experience. i have looked into the rubber guard new york, zombie, mission control, are all very poorly designed. not to mention if you stack a rubber guard it puts so much strain on the knees. if you dont let go it blows your knee out.

  • @carlsongracieteam I'm training in BJJ, and my instructor is a 1st degree black belt who encourages learning the rubber guard. And yes the armbar is there...its really easy. If you read "Mastering the Rubber Guard" you'll see how easy it is to get. And new york, zombie, mission control have a lot of techniques.Alot more than the standard guard And you need to do a lot of stretching in order to not get that knee strain. don't give up. Stretch and gain the flexability.

  • @carlsongracieteam also, I don't get why people think that stacking the rubber guard is the answer to stopping it. Honestly, its a good way to get swept if you try stacking it. And the knee strain thing can be taken care of. If you do some stretching it'll be much easier on your knees. If you do Muay Thai and at first can't do head kicks, do you give up? No you stretch untill your able to do it.

  • @75ehwtcv not to mention when u pull rubber guard u cant move ur hips at all.. and u need all the hip movement as possible to prevent getting passed. and i watched bellator mma fights thursday live and a guy pulled rubber guard and the guy stacked the rubber guard picked him up and slammed him. all rubber guard really does is break the guy down. there is no effective sweeps that will work at a tournament and that is why no 10th planet guy has ever won a significant tournament.

  • @carlsongracieteam Joe actually got his brown belt from Jean Jacques Machado.

  • @FillupTomasin yeah but he doesnt hve the knowledge of a brown belt you can walk into a belt testing and know the specifics of that test and pass it. but there is no way in hell if joe rogan was training in traditional bjj he'd be a brown belt. he has only been in it for about 4 years. he never competes and i have watched him roll and he looks like a scrambling wrestler...

  • @carlsongracieteam So you're inferring that by knowing the specifics of of a brown belt test that anyone could just walk in and get their brown belt? Wouldn't that individual indeed be a brown belt? However not every instructor conducts tests for belt promotions. Assuming that Jean Jacques does not conduct belt tests, I believe it is highly doubtful that he would just hand out a brown belt just for the fun of it. Also where did you hear that he has only been training for 4 years?

  • @FillupTomasin joe rogan knew the specific techniques needed to pass the test but he doesnt know much out side of that technique. he doesnt know the years of technique that test shows only a small amount of technique a brown belt knows. i blue belt could walk into a brown belt test and pass it that is why you instructor looks at things like how many hours you have put in. many make you fill a book. most brown belts have been doing it 7 years +. joe rogan has been doing it 4 years..

  • @FillupTomasin he has only been training in competingin for only 4 years. he has been around bjj much longer but in actual traditional training in a dojo he only has 4 years. he is on like a blue belt level. and when he competes he doesnt compete as a brown belt... you can ask the guy yourself on twitter he isnt at a brown belt level.

  • @carlsongracieteam I don't think he even competes, and why would that even be a factor? Plus he is listed as a brown belt on Jean Jacques website... He was with Eddie Bravo at ADCC in 2003, and that was about seven years ago so we infer from this that he has been training 7+ plus years. By your own criteria he is at a brown belt level. I believe Joe Rogan started training sometime in the late 90's but I am not sure.

  • @FillupTomasin yeah joe rogan has been involved in bjj since the 90's but hasnt started actually training but recently. you can even look on his website joerogan.net if you honestly want to dispute this... he has been watching bjj and been involved since the 90's just as long as he has been in mma. him and eddy have been friends a long time and he went to watch eddie compete but as far as traditional training he goes he has 4 years tops..

  • @carlsongracieteam I saw an interview with Rogan which was taped in 2010 and he said he's been doing BJJ for about 9 years.

  • @richp860 lol give me a fucking link

  • @carlsongracieteam Check your channel comments. That link shows that he was a blue belt in 2001.

  • 2:37 goodbye ACL. I know Eddie Bravo's guys are flexible but day-um, that's definitely gonna take a toll on you.

  • strong man bjj why the hell isnt he working his guard on such a small guy????

  • as grainy as this footage, how can anyone even recognize this as being joe rogan?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not sure what this video shows exactly. What I mean by that is Joe reminds me of my coach who makes me work my ass off and feel like a total bitch. I don't think he was trying to really hurt the kid and I don't think this is indicative of his skill. It seems like he's wanting to make him work.

  • im about 150 and that kid looks smaller than me

  • bro i dont think he even does much jiu jitsu. hes a tae kwon do man.

  • he is a brown belt bjj

  • lol you have no idea what are you talking about. He is a BB in TKD and a brown in BJJ Gi and no Gi. but he does not do TKD anymore, something with his knees

  • A brown belt in no Gi? What does the belt hold up and where does it go? I haven't heard of no Gi using a belt system, in all seriousness.

  • 10th planet awards "belts" in color shirts, Joe is a brown "belt"

  • Good point, in no gi systems its all about how good you get at rolling and/or instructing. Even no gi belted dudes don't give a shit about what color their belt is, otherwise they'd were them to show them off. Both systems are cool, Gi is great for original sport jui-jitsu, and no gi is great for mma and self defense.

  • gi is probably better for most self defense situations. unless you're at the beach, most of the time people are wearing pants/ belts/ shirts

  • ..... joe only does bjj under eddie.....

  • How much does Rogan weigh?

  • Joe's jiu-jitsu is not very technical for his belt level even at the time of the video.

  • Old School -> Whip Up... Joe just needs a little bit more time with the twister and he could have made quick work.

  • lol, yea joe makes the fights entertaining with his commentary...but he uses strong man jiu jitsu... -.-'

  • Damn Joe, can't you fight someone you're size instead of a 150lb kid lol.

  • That dude he's rolling wit looks like he weighs 100 lbs of course he gunna beat his ass

  • Joe is the John Madden of the UFC "Captin Fucking Ovious"

  • Nice spelling..

  • lol

  • Joe is a great commentator

  • Jeo better get his ass on some propecia before it's too late.

  • looks like they are making out.. I like Joe but this is pure shit.

  • how is this pure shit?

  • joe doesn't seem like a friendly sparring partner, trying to injure his fellow teammate.

  • Is that not the point?

  • THAT GUYS LEG LOOKS BENT UP

  • i wonder If dana would be joe and wesley snipes on a card.

  • joe is a beast
