In the middleages vikings from Sweden went to Finland. There they made an empire, that would later become the father of Russia. That empire had many contacts with the east-roman empire / Byzantium. Capital of Byzantium was Constantinople. After the middleages, dont know the exact year, Byzantium fell and became from the turks. But the album, from which this is a song, is about the first journeys to Byzantium, so it cant be about the turks.
