I think he's been a bit jaded or the idea of marriage has been tainted for him because the media made a mockery of how many times he had been engaged; and in interviews you could tell it bothered him. Since he's been engaged 4 times, he's obviously not opposed to the concept of marriage, but he's probably fearful of getting engaged and then everything going downhill like all his other relationships after they became engaged; and he doesn't want it to turn into once again a media spectacle.
