  • Whilst most people associate Eurythmics with Lennox, I personally associate it more to Dave. Being a synth player myself, I believe his synthwork was somewhat revolutionary and that he is one of the most underrated synth players in history. This tends to happen in duo bands. The singer gets the entire spotlight. To a lesser extent, this also happened to Dave Ball, the keyboardist from Soft Cell.

  • @HighRiseChateau You are correct! Without Dave, Eurythmics would have never gotten off the ground musically. His production gave the Eurythmics their DISTINCT sound that was never and is frankly unable to be copied. I'm also an electronic musician and producer. It was Dave Stewart who was the single biggest influence on me to become a synthesizer player and musician. Funny because Dave later on became to be known more for his guitar work. I've always preferred the techno-pop Eurythmics.

  • @HighRiseChateau In my last novel The King of The Woods, there are no less than 20 pages about Eurythmics. The novel is set in New York during the 80s. Kevin (the narrator and protagonist states how he prefers Dave on synthesizer rather than guitar. Kevin is angry when he sees Eurythmics perform Sweet Dreams with Dave on the guitar. Kevin wanted to see Dave playing Synths. Later in 1990, he is dismayed seeing Martin Gore from Depeche Mode play I Want You Now on guitar rather than on synthesizer.

  • I love the polemic of comments here: Lennox fans love it, Hayes fans hate it. I see a band covering a song they like to try and establish their identity. This was 82, their prior release was bit of neo-psychedelic new wave, and they then turned to experimental electronic music in their home studio. Put that together and by 83 the sweet dreams of success would come true.

  • She was and is a Kick Ass Woman/Chingona!

  • This is awful. My vocabulary lacks the adjectives to describe how bad this is.

  • listen to sam and dave's version

Yea otis as well as sam and dave both did great.

  • HOT DIGGITY DAMN....OH YES!!! I'LL TAKE IT FRIM MS LENNOX ANY DAY!!! SHE IS MY GOD!

  • this is how music should be

  • Now and then, Annie Lennox is the best of all new wave classic! She is my first love in music since 1983.

  • As I recall he did the studio version with Green from Scritti Politti - this is wonderful

  • They just took a classic and PRISON FUCKED IT. this is terrible

  • @BluesMan88 LOL. I don't think I could have expressed it better myself.

  • Thais is kinky, just the way i like it...

  • Oh my God this is terrible.. I always liked the Fabulous Thunderbirds version but holy shit this is really bad lol

  • My favorite Eurythmics era! Annie is such a bad bitch!

  • I love Annie. saw her in 1993 at the Palace in Hollywood!!

  • Was that song ever released as a single ? I know it's on their second album, but I didn't know there was a video for this.

  • Actually not. Although it has that potential of a hit single. :) It's a cover of an Isaac Hayes and David Porter song (not that I've heard the original though :)), here Eurythmics also feature some backing vocal support from Scritti Politti's Green Gartside.

  • I think eurythmics were always good,i bought all their albums. but I respect any other person's opinion.

  • it's just about the most frenetic music in the world... i love eurythmics

  • All of you soulless no-talent critics who go around pissing on art should Move On, Grow the fuck up, and go listen to the shit that you feed on!!!!GTFOGFYourselves!

  • Annie Lennox in This Video = HOT AS FUCK

  • This is when Eurythmics were GOOD! right up to Sex Crime... The mid 80s was disaster for Eurythmics in my opinion. So SOLD OU US crap. Then they got FANTASTIC again with SAVAGE!

  • this rocks so stfu

  • to the person who said the album is under rated, you bought it, you like it, so thats all that matters , Enjoy, after all the best song in the world is the song you like best

  • This sounds like a robot trying to eat a Fabulous Thunderbirds record.

  • Are you kidding me?

  • I'd love to.

  • wouldent be the first ;)

  • Love this song!

  • This song is so great! I remember listening to my aunt dance around the house to this song. This whole album is underrated. Does anyone remember the haunting song, "Jennifer"?

  • Yess!! i love the early eurythmics, i even did a school project on them..! I used to "sing" the song Jennifer to my mates girlfriend, named Jennifer, whom he really didn like:

"Jennifer, with your orange hair, Jennifer, with your green eyes, Jennifer, with your orange hair, Jennifer, Where are you.. tonight, ..(underneath the water..)..

    I Loved Eurythmics...

  • wash your hands, and bring on the AZT....WELL, MAYBE I SHOULD BE NICER, BUT I CAN'T.

  • Or a sonic care toothbrush...lol

  • Zexxxy.

  • I remember listening to this song over and over again,, when I first got the ..... check this out.... LP!!!!! Vinyl rocks!

  • This would probably have been a big success as a single...

  • ahaha, what is that golden dude doing?!

  • I feel you!! What the hell is he doing?

  • The golden dude must have been a major inspiration to the Eurythmics at the time. Annie's glasses: His! Rhythm Machine: His. Funk guitar: his. 50% of Bass Synth: His! Any more questions let us know...

  • absolutely love this song, and basically anything Annie Lennox touches, incredible voice!

  • Green Gartside & Annie sang wonderfully together!

  • This is retro-cool. :)

  • Issac Hayes (Chef) wrote this song for Sam & Dave. Annie is rockin the house.
