I can never watch this video without an overwhellming sense of joy that God raised up this tremendous organization to which I belong through the dreams and visions of a young man of 12 when he first said "God shall have all there is of William Booth". I was one of those young men who, in my teens was lost and groping to find a purpose in life and the Army led me to my Saviour...

The Army's position for many years has been that officers are not at liberty to belong to any secret society, including the Freemasons. Soldiers should be actively discouraged from involvement. The pseudo-religious practices within Freemasonry render it an obstacle to true Christian spirituality.

The Masons in the US are not so much a secret society as a society with secrets. I have not seen anything within the ritual that inhibits any spirituality. I knew a Mason from Uruguay; there it was a secret society, nobody knew he belonged to it.

When I die, I'm leaving everything to the Sally Ann. They are one of the few Christian organizations that actually walks the talk; they feed the poor, comfort the disenfranchised, provide shelters for those who need them, visit and minister to criminals in prison... all of that BEFORE they preach anything. Their accounting books are open for all to see. Such integrity is truly hard to find in today's world- and also in William Booth's time. Long Live the movement and legacy of General Booth.

Can someone tell me the link between him and Abney Park Cementry why was he buried there i only ask this as my dad was a salvationist and took me to his grave as i come from Stoke Newington way myself

When Booth died most cemeteries were still attached to Church of England parishes and you had to be C of E to be buried in one. Abney Park was a privately run cemetery which accepted Noncormists like Booth and I guess it was chosen ahead of other Nonconformist burial grounds because it was close to the East End where Booth started out.
