Okay everyone, I've been a Need For Speed fans since NFS 3: Hot Pursuit, and had collected NFS games like NFS2 and High Stakes.
I myself have nothing against Need For Speed Underground 1 because I liked it, since the makers wanted to bring in the realism of street racing and tuning to the franchise. The only thing I didn't like about that games was that you could not drive everywhere in the city and that you did not have Pursuit Mode.

Still have this game, still love it. I always thought the paint job on the ricer looked cool, though. It's more suited for the Porsche that just pwned it, XD.
What ever happened to the good 'ol days of car showcasing with a narrator, slideshow pictures of every car and actually have a FMV (Full Motion Video) of each car driving in real life. Each video was always unique to the certain car they were showcasing and always enjoyable to watch. EA just got lazy and shit over the years.
They need to get the original crew from the Electronic Arts - Canada studio and produce something that we all remembered and grew up with and loved...
Up until Porsche 2000 (Unleashed), these were the GOLDEN years of NFS. 1998 where most of the magic happened and to this date, I think the original NFS3: Hot Pursuit was one of their best games. It was revolutionary at the time and the soundtrack was absolutely incredible. Its a shame that EA (Electronic Arts) fuked up the franshise with stupid rice burning crap with the Underground series and so on and its a REAL damn shame they shifted to commercial artist and music which destroyed it for me.
I remember how many hours I spent with this game. Unfortunately I didn't take great care of it and it's a little too scratched now. But I at least still have the game and all the memories of it. Maybe EA will come to their senses and remake this with a little graphics improvement.
Watch and learn kids, watch and learn - thats a game where the NFS series have died as far as innovation goes (no - graphic enhancement is not innovation).
Imo this part (4) was the best of the NFS series. All thats above it is garbage. Utter garbage. If EA would remake this part with the modern graphics id still play it today.
I honestly don't know what's up with NFS now. They should make two types of NFS's. NFS's like Most Wanted/Underground/Carbon in one. And then when they wanna make a realistic NFS they do High Stakes. Fuck this terrible Shift series. We don't want legal racing. I loved High stakes because it was actually challenging & took skill. & I remember wanting to own Nemesis. ;) Not tap the emergency break & take turns like burnout. I would gladly pay $60 for NFS High Stakes 2 or a HD remake.
This is why EA ditched the whole Underground fad in the franchise because Need For Speed is all about racing in prestigous exotic cars and intense police chases, underground took both those concepts and threw them out the window and when Hot Pursuit (2010) brought the series back to it's roots it was a breath of fresh air. NFS: The Run looks like it will stick to this style, it was enough to piss off the Underground fans lol

I gotta say.. this brings back special memories.... back when racing games still kicked ass... I wish they could just remake NFS high stakes with better graphics, more cars, more tracks and more customization options... that's all they need to do... why they went from this to fucking pro-street, underground etc. drives me insane... the graphics were the only improvement. Since NFS HP2 (ps2, xbox and gcn) it's been nowhere but downhill.. the only good game after that was hot pursuit last year.

I remember the first time I saw this intro and at the end when the Porsche peels out I was like "dang" with a chill in my body.
This game was the reason why I started loving sports cars to begin with.
High Stakes 2 please but just like the classic 3 stage upgrades, same music with additional similar style tracks keep the old cars and add some of the new ones (One-77 vs Reventon, that would be awesome).

No Underground was terrible, you couldn't drive around and just had missions to finish. And the NFS before UG were about Supercars and not about TFTF cars. Now Need for Speed is a game build after The Fast and the Furious...maybe they shoul name it after TFTF and not NFS
Underground was a ricer fest. Down right pathetic and the biggest disgrace in NFS history. The only reason it got all the props that it gotten was because of The Fast And The Furious.
@chase19b4 That is hard to say. I like the new version of Hot Pursuit very much. Also Split/Second is great. And there are so much more. I also like the Underground Parts. I now much don't like that, but I don't know why. I like to drift. And that games give me that. Juice 2 make that perfect. There are realy great drift levels. I also like NFS Most wanted and Carbon. But I don't like undercover and Pro Street. The city of undercover is not very detailed, it looks not like a living world.
@Finsterdrache I don't like Pro Street, because the handling of the cars are terrible. Only the drag races are cool. In the other NFS games I don't like it, but there I like it very much. Strange. I also liked the old game Destruction Derby 2. There are much Arena fights and one level with a big gap on the side of the arena. I liked to push the other racers in the gap ^^. I liked also the first driver game. Very old, but I liked it to play. Also Flatout 2 is a great game. Fun, fun, fun.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but this was the first NFS game to introduce car customization. There were three packages, each package makes your car even faster. I wasn't like in underground were you have the option to individually customize the car.

This video reminds me of a few things...
1. the last time developers remembered the idea of 2 player on the pc
2. the last time developers put usable menus on the pc
3. the last time developers understood what the pc gaming audience wanted
4. the last time a proper damage model for exotic supercars existed in a game.
since then, NFS has gone dramatically downhill in terms of gameplay variety.
I don't know what EA doesn't understand about this.

While these ricer punks are howling for a Underground 3 they need to make a Need For Speed High Stakes 2. Too many goddamn teenage punks trying to be Paul Walker or Vin Diesel playing a Fast And The Furious knock off! Hot Pursuit 2010 came close to bringing back NFS, but I want it even closer. PLEASE EA! Tell me if I'm wrong, but this was the first NFS game to introduce car customization. There were three packages, each package makes your car even faster. I wasn't like in underground were you have the option to individually customize the car.

@Syderer Yeah. I had an original CD of this NFS, and the name was Road Challenge. I have no idea why the game had 2 different names. Maybe there were two names for Europe and US?

@PS11833 i guess i was getting the joke at first but now that you think about it tuners are equal to exoctics for a full tuned tuner you could even spend 100k and you can even quote from fnf ug 2 i spend 400k on all my cars total they do 220 aint any different then exotics but styling idk how there CHEAP tuned
