i would glady send you some of those bobbles :) i always use them they are amazing and since they dont have those metal links in it doesnt damage your hair xD this = happy hair =]
I love your hair and you're so nice! I'm having trouble with my hair because I don't know what shampoo to use, and I have lots of breakage that I don't know how to fix :/
your pony tail holder looks aloy like the ones I make. I just cut a strip of pantyhose about 3-6 " and it rolls itself. have found that it is the only holder that doesn't damage my hair.
I can not ever us a comb, my hair is REALY curly, and if i tried it would hurt realy bad.... My hair is realy annoying, my friends call it 'the beast'
huh.. i brush my ends behind my back.. for some reason pulling it over my shoulder causes more tangles.. but my hair is alot wavier than yours.. maybe thats it.. *squiggyflop from lhc*
I also brush my hair. I switch off between wide toothed combs, a brush or a tangle teezer, depending on how my hair is behaving and how I want it to look when I am done. (And what do you mean they stopped making those hair ties??? I NEED those! GAH!)
@torrinpaige why does that make me feel old. LOL. I LOVED your hair then and I LOVE your hair now...so beautiful! remember the Macarena at a certain Birthday party all those many years back??? wink
@dax28645 Why do I have a feeling that you have incriminating footage of the instance in question? It was so fun getting to hang out with the cool kids. :o)
Haha that was me! I posted that comment about brushing the ends of your hair! I feel like an idiot now but....I had classic length when I was like six. So my tiny little arms didn't reach all the way and it never occered to me to do that! Hey! I was only six! My mom got so fed up with doing my hair that I ended up with a buzz cut courtesy of my mom. All I remember was getting frustrated trying to brush the ends. Oops, I rambled.
@FatKidsRHard2Kidnap Check out my General Hair care and Q & A vids..I cover pretty much everything there. The big things? Don't wash too much, don't blow dry too much, eat well, find a great detangler, wear it up a lot, use coconut oil, and just be nice to it. :o)
@torrinpaige You know, I find it interesting that people around here suggest coconut oil. I was discussing this with my mom, and in the Philippines it's considered what "poor" people use. Considering they have home-grown coconuts, that makes sense. They tend to use baby oil. But since most of us try to go as organic as possible, I'll stick with coconuts. :) I even have a coconut shampoo bar.
@FatKidsRHard2Kidnap I also brush/comb from the ends up. It cuts down on breakage. You're always going to have some amount of breakage, but it won't be so noticeable this way.
I own a couple of wide tooth combs & dont care 4 the outcome. I use a paddle brush as well whn its wet 7, whn its dry I use a boar bristle brush. But last year I found at Walmart a combo oval paddle bristle w/ boar bristles on a wooden handle by Conair & all I can say is its AWESOME! I still use the regular paddle brush whn hair is wet but use the other now 4 all other applications. You"ve got to try the combo brush. Great Video.
My pony tail still slips. I thought it was due to heavy hair but if yours doesn't slip then I guess it's just the hair texture. I can not wear hair combs as they just slip out.
@Species710 Hair combs, by large, slide right out of my hair as well. My pony will slip over time, too, and that is why I usually braid it...the braiding makes it stay put. Well, that, and I find I get the worst tangles in the world when I just leave it in a plain old pony. I'm guessing the flipping around and rubbing against my shirt is the culprit. When it's all down it doesn't swing around as much as when it's ponied, I suppose. :o)
I'm sick so my hair is unhealthy & I detangle with my fingers, with some coconut oil on them (or the tangles come right back), then comb, then brush. I'm also sad as my hair seems to have stopped growing. It's down to the bottom of my butt and just will not get any longer *weeps* Anyway, thanks for all your videos and thanks for letting me ramble.
Adore you as always. I didn't realize there was another way to do a pony tail. That's how I do mine too. I too like how the brush makes the hair feel. The comb just doens't cut it. I use the wide tooth comb after I detangle. 500 characters is not enough!
My hair isn't long enough yet to need to braid it over my shoulder but I'm going to have alot of trouble when I get there because I braid inside out over my shoulder and simply can't do it the right way round, I can on the back of my head but not from the front lol. I see some training coming up in the near future. Your vids are so helpful :)
My god, it seems like yesterday that i saw the video after your hair cut... your hair either grows very fast ...or the vid was actually was a while ago
LOL, you'd think after having long hair my whole life I'd know these little tricks, but I don't! My pony tails always end up with lumps sticking out from twisting them around while putting them up, and my braids always get a kink if I try to pull it over my shoulder. No longer, thanks to you! Torrin, you've saved the day, again!!! :D
Thanks for this one! I've had long hair since I was about 14, but I've always had problems with breakage. I guess I chose the wrong kind of brush (I was once recommended the plastic-thingie, and have used that ever since - although it's a very soft one). So I guess I need a new one - What do you look for, when you have to buy a new brush?
@chellierose I try to find the biggest paddle brush I can. I have a Goody Ouchless now and I love it. You want to look for one where the "teeth" will retract a bit into the brush (less snagging and pulling on your hair) and one where the nubbins on the ends of the bristles are really secure. I had an expensive Paul Mitchel one and the nubbins popped off and wreaked havoc on my hair. I got my Goody at Wal-Mart..less than $10 if I remember correctly, it's been awhile.
@torrinpaige I use one of those wooden paddle brushes (Earth Therapeutics) with the wooden pegs instead of plastic. There are no nubs at the end and no plastic seams (I had to throw away my old paddle brush because of that). I too love the paddle brushes. They make my hair beautiful, distribute the oils (BBBs are too flimsy for my hair), and they make for an awesome head massage. Just thought I'd share. They're like $10 so about the same price as a reasonable plastic one only way better.
@MarriedaMonkey I didn't even know they made fully wooden ones. I may have to try one to see how it feels...do the little teeth retract back into the paddle? Nevermind, I'll go and research it...lol. Thanks for the heads-up!
@torrinpaige The wooden ones are pretty much just like the other paddle brushes. They have that rubber air cushion thing that holds the pegs. The pegs are just pegs, though, no little nubbies at the ends. They don't need them since the ends are rounded enough to just make a nice little head massage. Also, without nubbies, there's nothing to catch my hair when there's a knot. The wood is good quality. Wholefoods and Lassens's carry them as does Amazon.
@tutanktunak I just use a tiny bit of coconut oil, rub it between my palms, and run it along my hair. It seems to do the trick. Dryer sheets will totally work in a pinch. I keep one in most of my purses during the winter months.
@TabsonSam I usually just French or Dutch braid it. If I'm doing something that involves a lot of head whipping or something, Elizabethan Hair Taping is the only way to go.
Your hair's beautiful... :)

The best comb ever is.. your fingers lawl.
But if I had your lenght, I'd probably need a comb, even though my hair is past my waist and wavy.
