  • the spring iz a bitch

  • I bought a VGC 1000 last weekend. It has the same prob my 2000 was having, in-game moving to the 5:00 position by itself, example Lego Potter. I tested using the browser cursor, it doesn't move by itself, but is fast pushing down or right but slow up or left. Likewise, in the game Third Birthday, first two directions are running, latter two walking. And I tried the less invasive rotate stick to calibrate in System Settings, no help. So, stick, pad, or cleaning? And electronic cleaner vs alcohol?

  • My spring went undo I tried putting it back together and ended up stretching it as long as it could

  • You are awesome....!!!

  • THANKS OBRIGADOOOOO

  • @ICHIBANnerdy you can put it back, you know the two holes?get a needle then put it inside the two holes, then twist the spring so they will interchange and eventually theyll stick :D.

  • ummm, my spring is no longer connected to itself. do i have to get a new spring or can i put it back to together?

  • where does the black washer go

  • great help

  • thanx buddy =]

  • /watch?v=_9eQc5BaBuc

    This Really Helps

  • @austbro777onps3 If you want to change the color of the actual stick your thumb comes in contact with it's 15 seconds, this is the disassembly and reassembly of the entire analog stick. You fail, not only as a person, but as a person choosing a screenname.

  • very very helpful, thanks a lot!!!

  • nice thanks so much man

  • Thanks dude that was tons of help :)

  • sir help me my analog cant move up and down? even replacing analog and the analog moving in games but in browser its ok whats the problem?

  • Thanks ThanksSS :) you helped me

  • Thanks a lot it's really helpful

  • Hmm it stopped working. For some reason the white guide wont move when the analogue does. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • @phadinglove

Be sure the metal guide is aligned to the analog stick and flushed. Then just align the gray and the white. When you attach the small circuit board, be sure it is flushed cause it will tell you if everything is properly aligned. Keep at it. I was having the same problems till I finally figured it out. My problem was that i was installing everything backwards. I changed the direction of the meal and plastic guides and bingo!

  • @doublejay74

I ended up putting it in backwards also haha...oops.

  • Ah! This was perfect, thank you so much!

  • Man thank you so very much, I disassembled my analog and I hadn't no idea about that son of b... spring inside the stick, so when I decided to put that together again, I just find no solution for the spring, but you saved my PSP with this video, once again thank's man !

  • Is this for psp 1000?

and does this fix an analog that moves on its own (not physically)?

my analog is like that, might try this

  • This worked wonders for me. Really glad I found this video. Thanks to the creator of this video, and thanks to you AskJeeves for uploading it on youtube. Saved me alot of trouble and money!

  • thanks a lot! this guide saved my life.

  • do you have a psp 2000 slim tutorial? i coz i was wondering where that little white rubber go to? when i open my analog stick, there was a little white rubber inside with 4 yellow (something) in it.. i dunno where to place it.. pls help

  • ok idk anything bout that psring, but what does thet little rubber part do on the other circuits(on psp mother board)

  • thanks for posting..

  • I will tell you one damn thing...I took it apart, I did a fine and dandy job. I got to the part where I was replacing the spring. Yeah, thats a JOKE! I am just going to take the "shell casing, AND the spring" and nicely place it under the rear wheel of my vehicle and put it in reverse, then drive, then reverse, then I am going to return my vehicle into its rightful place in the garage. Maybe a bird can use it in their nest building. What a waste of 4 hrs.

After cleaning out the grey gunk on the circuit board and something fell I saw that it was the spring and the grey nub. It was hell to get back on but after checking this vid I got it back in less than 2 mins. Thanks a bunch.

  • my analog button is broken shud i just pull it out i already have a replacement button

  • do you mean the cap has come off?

like is the actual analog stick broken apart? or is it just the small cap that goes ontop?

    also is it PSP1000 PSP2000 or PSP3000?

    1000/2000 just buy a replacement

but 3000 i dunno where there sold but just go on google and search around a bit

  • If the metal guide doesn't hold the analog nub in place anymore, you need to buy a new replacement unit. A lot of the aftermarket 'oversized' analog nubs will cause the analog nub to rotate, which damages the internals. Basically, as you play your game, the nub spins and rubs against the metal guide, slowly shaving it down and making it round instead of rectangular (this is internally). The peg that moves the guides becomes rounded slowly and causes the analog nub to rotate.

  • Don't lose the clear silicon 'contact' piece that connects from the PSP motherboard to the analog stick unit. It is a clear piece about 1cm long with four wires running through it. They need to be facing upwards when placed on the motherboard so that the wires connect the analog stick unit to the motherboard. Make sure it isn't turned sideways.

If the analog stick still drifts after you've installed it, you need to tighten up the faceplate screws (on the side that it is drifting to)

  • Here's a few tips from the guy who actually made the video (me):

If the spring came apart, that's OK, you can 'connect' the two ends back together and try again. However, if the spring is deformed, it will never work again and you'll just need to buy a new replacement unit.

DON'T MASH THE THING TOGETHER. Apply a nice, steady force, but don't MAKE it go. If you apply a nice, steady force while rotating the analog nub, it will seat the spring into place.

  • what if the spring broke?

  • thx u save my life and my psp

  • what should i do if my little spring came apart

  • Great Great great great. i just fixed my analog stick, For me it was a lot more than just 10 bucks, because where I live analog sticks where way more expensive. thanks a lot (and excuse the bad english)

  • thank you a lot i thought i would never find a video like this

  • can you please make a vid about how to take the anolog thing out of your psp and how to get it back on??

  • Thank you so much! You explained what i needed to know to the "t". The spring was what was giving me the most trouble. You saved me from buying a guide. Great video! Thanks again.

  • lets go mets

  • I just did it with psp slim analog, but method for spring in this vid was just deforming it but I found another way. First I took the bottom plastic part put "the thing that you place nub on" and put spring on top of everything then I gently put top plastic part and used small and thick screwdriver to make spring fit there (I was gently pushing top part so it would immediately close when spring got to it's place). Inventing this idea took me a while but performing took ~2 mins :)

  • hey dude, u know the silver component that goes under the guides? mine won't keep my analog stick stable, and it spins around when i play. help please?

  • thanx man, worked for me; dugg for Biohazard
