if it does, did you mask out the trees that are behind the building that you can see at the top? since trees blow in the wind and that could mess up the tracking.
When you track in Maya you choose the points you want to track. So I made sure not to choose any points on the trees above the building.
The best is to choose spots that have high contrast in them such as the corner of the parking lot lines, corners of the doors, corners of windows, and white rocks/leaves on the ground that don't move.
I can't remember, but you can search for "Maya Live" and find out online. I just found it easier to pick my own points for tracking.
You can also use another program to auto track and then import it into Maya Live but I am not sure how to do this correctly (I tried it before but couldn't get it to work with the program I was using).
Thank you but I don't understand why you say that there should be a reflection of the robot on the ground. For example, I don't see a reflection of me on the ground, so why should the robot reflect on the ground?
When i motion track with maya live, the camera movement ends up being too smooth and it does not take into account all the little quick movements that your hand makes...
So what do you do to get rid of the smoothness?
I tried one way, i increased the number of root frames when i solve, but there must be a faster way...
hhmm, well I would say first to do the Maya Live tutorial that came with Maya. Otherwise, when I had problems with the tracking not being correct I would add more track points in those frames. Sometimes adding more tracking doesn't make it better, so then I would delete those tracking points at the problem time and redo the tracking until I get green.
It is a very time consuming task to get it to work properly. This took me many hours to get the tracking correct.
Thank you for the comment. I used Maya 7.0 Live to do the tracking and it took a long time to get it smooth.
Originally, I tried to use one of the auto tracking programs and then import it into Maya Live but it wasn't working and I think it was because of the low resolution of the camera I used (so pixels were difficult to track).
"just under the View count."
should say above, not nitpicking, just helping.
Cool video, too. :)

Do you have Maya unlimited or complete? You need to have Maya unlimited which includes Maya Live that you use for the 3D tracking.

Thank you very much! :D

That crazy robot ^^
@ sonicballer8888
Well, for simple scene like this, I never did make good use of Maya's live tracking tool, I use others instead.

does maya live have a masking feature?

I don't believe Maya has auto-traching. I've been searching for it today, but couldn't find anything.

amazing, even though i bet most of the stuff was done by maya itself, but knowing how to work with maya is probably still amazing haha XD
anyway, if you want critic, how about using more realistic texture for the fake robot? The gray and blue looked way too cartoonish, too flat etc.

Nice work but you forgot about robots reflection on the ground. Shadow looks good.

if the video is only 24 seconds. Make it 24 seconds not 2 minutes
Jesscgraff 3 years ago
Well, I needed to add some time to get it in good quality. Every time I uploaded a 24 sec. video it was very poor quality
