  • Just hunting round on here as I'm after an acoustic bass, seen a few video's, but your vid and a german chap have helped convince me to get one of these, cracking sound, and like you say, the salsa on the chips, sounds good effected too! Cheers for posting this mate.

  • really cool improv.

I would like to know of a place where i can buy a bass just like that, if possible the same one.

  • type gift before youtube.com see what happens

  • Ya know I've never really liked acoustic bass tones much, but the tone you get isn't that bad at all, I rather like it, id imagine it sounds rather dreamy when played slowly.

  • Yea! I've heard alot of really good acoustic basses played slow and it's very dreamy.

  • this is basically wipeout in D lol

  • I gotta tell you, i played this same blues to my girlfriend and it helped me convince her to have sex.

    Thanks!

  • .....

  • wtf..............

  • it helped me convince her to have sex.

    with you? or another guy?

  • lmao!!!

  • wow dude... no comment but thumbs up for your girl and you haha

  • i gotta tell you i play this same blues to you girlfriend and it helped me convince her to have sex.

  • nice

  • Eveything is fine but the phaser was completely unnecessary imo.

  • love the bass, I see an aria pro II am I right? those are badass basses

  • Good eye Mr. Stoney..that's a 1983 Aria Pro II, with Barolini pickup and Badass bridge. Thanks for noticing..lol

  • no prob, I'm a nut for bass guitars, and I've always wanted and Aria Pro II ever since I saw a video of Cliff Burton with one, got a good tone to it, and the treble doesn't go all out like some basses have it set

  • is like crash or something

  • Yes...I bought that amp new for $400 in 1986 and used it for many jams, parties and small gigs. If you don't have active pickups, use some kind of pedal with a pre-amp to boost your power. If you are using a PA, take a line out to the board. When playing next to a full drum kit and a couple of electric guitars you need at least a 150 or 200-watt amp or be lost in the wall of sound. I know guys who gig with small amps (run through the PA) and do just fine. Especially if you have a small car!

  • relicscribe....do you think the peavey tko 65 would be able to hold its own and cut through when playing with drums and a 100w guitar amp?

  • is that the acoustic sound? are are you going through an amp?

  • Yes, it's a Peavey 65 watt bass amp and a Zoom bass effects pedal to give it a little blend of echo/phaser/distortion, kinda like some salsa on your chips.

  • very expensive salsa :)

  • *runing to the music store*

  • this is so cool!! the sound is amazing!

for beginners would you recomend an acoustic, or an electric? i'm stariving more to a deep sound, my friend says jazz basses are great for what i want, but he also sais acoustics are amazing.

    so what do you say?

    thanks. :)

  • I like my acoustic, but if I was to recommend a good starter bass it would be a Fender Squier precision or Jazz. You can get a kit with the bass, little amp, strap and case for a good price. My friend got everything all brand new for about $300. Check your local music store.

  • @ramsestthefirst I got a Squier P Bass to start on and was very happy with it. If you do get an acoustic, make sure it had an output so you can amp it if you start playing with people. As for the Jazz or P bass, A P bass is like a punch and a Jazz bass is like a slap. A jazz bass is very tonal and high sounding and a P bass is more fat and rumbly :)

  • Awsome playing, one quick question though. Would you recommend that bass? Thanks.

  • Thanks..This is a great grab-and-go bass that allows you to jam with other acoustic guitars at the beach party. But if you are playing with more than one other guitarist or some drums you will need a small amp.

  • Very cool! I have an Applause AA-40. No pick-up & a canted headstock, which is apparently a rare thing on Kamen guitars - most have that familiar ovation headstock. you can hear my Applause AB & see a few photos of it in my vid for Pink Floyd's "Goodbye Blue Sky".

  • can u send me the tab or sheet music to this?

  • do you know what improv means??

  • LMFAO....som1 had to point that out...LOLOL

  • improvision

  • very nice, got to admit i was expecting sunnit a bit slower being blues but good job man!

  • nevermind, saw the name of it in the "more info" :)

  • OK..it's a Zoom 506II Bass. It's a digital pedal with a gazillion settings, way more than you ever need and almost too confusing to use. Fun toy but not very practical.

  • very nice!

What is the name of the pedal you use? or maybe you dont use one.

  • do you find the acoustic bass unconfortable how does it play?

  • This Applause has a rounded back and is very light, so it fits the body nicely, just like a regular acoustic guitar. It is a short scale (20 frets) so it has very responsive action and very fun to play. Great if you have a light touch and like to play bluesy stuff with lots of scales, hammer-ons, but not for jazzy slaps and pops. It's not very loud, so you need a small amp to keep up with even a couple of acoustic guitars. My Zoom effects pedal can give it just about any sound. Lots of fun.

  • Wow, I never knew they made acoustic bass' that weren't upright. That thing has a cool sound!

  • Hey. I really liked that. I~m 50 this year and have been mucking around on the bass for about a year now, just fooling myself. After seeing you play, I`ve started playing that song the last 2 days and love it.

Looking forward to your next one.

  • thanks very much..there is a second short one on my site, posted a few months ago. I just haven't had the time to do more.

  • improving?? r u sure?

  • its improvising lol

  • Wow! Just stated playing in Nov. Hope I can play like that some day. sounds great!!

  • thanks dude

  • Once again watching this (I just love it lol), and I was wondering did you come up with this yourself? Another thing, how long have you been playing?

  • Thanks again Babe. I'm always trying to find new ways to dress up the old standard three-chord blues riff. I started playing bass in 1986. Got a few more warming up in the oven and hope to post another vid soon.

  • Awesome, I cant wait to see the others.

  • Man! That was great! I had a smile on my face the whole way through haha. Man seriously though I can sense this great feel in your playing I love it not many people can play like that you know. Awesome job. I play bass myself and honestly that was definitely the most entertaining bass solo Ive heard on here. Oh yeah thanks for subscribing to me.

  • Thank you so much. Your kind words are truly appreciated :-)
