The move was fucking awful! I knew it was going to be bad when I first started watching it.. The writing in the background looked like fricken scribbling, the director chose HORRIBLE actors, they pronounced the names wrong, they had to move like 10 times Just to do any form of firebending, and the people looked WAY off...this movie sucked!
There were so many complicated, unnecessary movements for the airbending that they had to speed up the sequence - look at how fast he's going, I doubt anyone can go that fast naturally. It had to be altered at the computer.
Honestly, I enjoyed the live action movie for entertainment value. This may be, however, because I realized after watching "The Lightning Thief", that if I continue to compare a movie adaptation to it's original, I won't be able to enjoy any of the movies coming out nowadays.

I always loved the show Avatar. I love the effects in this movie, but that's the only thing I like! The names are pronounced SO wrong. They totally ruined the characters' personalities. Also on a lesser note the facial depictions of aang and zuko were less desirable such as zuko was at frist semi-bald and had a big viewable scar whereas the film's zuko could have at least had a big burned scar on his face. Well SilentDivergence I'll tell you why this movie sucked those who watched it. First off the storyline was way too rushed (for those who either watched the cartoon series or not) and the characters way of expressing themselves was bland as if they all ate a huge load of immuno depressants. Whenever they would do their bending actions there was an uneccesary pause for that element to bend whereas in the series once someone lift their feet or hands that element immediately lifts in the air.
@BrontoSmilodon1 Your points are well taken. While I have never advocated that this was by any means a great movie, I also haven't gone to the extreme of criticizing it as being the worst. Opinion on what is good an bad is all subjective. You are correct that this in no way captures the essence of the Avatar series and comparing the two very much proves your points. I tend to try separating film adaptations from their TV counterparts when I watch because otherwise they tend to never measure up.
This movie was inaccurate and dull. I should have watch Twilight Eclipse, and thats saying something since I prefer Harry Potter. Im glad shamalamadingdong could not have use the word "Avatar" on its title. Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender was absolutely glorious, M. Nights Shamalan's The Last Airbender was a laugh and at least i watch the movie for free so money did not matter.

The movie might have been good for people who haven't seen the tv series but in the tv series everything the fight sequences, the bending, just everything about it was done very well. In the movie they changed to much of it, I know when you make an adaptation of something there are things you change to make it your own but there are some things you don't change. Like the bending, it took to long in the movie and it just didn't flow the way it did in the series.
Okay, why couldn't ALL the movie's bending be this good?!? This proves they could do it right! But I guess they just figured "eh, just mimicing the title sequence should be enough, let's half-ass the rest."

I always loved the show Avatar. I love the effects in this movie, but that's the only thing I like! The names are pronounced SO wrong. They totally ruined the characters' personalities. Aang is supposed to be playful but he's too serious. Plus, no Bumi, Jet, Haru, all our favorite characters are gone!

Also on a lesser note the facial depictions of aang and zuko were less desirable such as zuko was at frist semi-bald and had a big viewable scar whereas the film's zuko could have at least had a big burned scar on his face. There was also fact that m. night was too stingy to add in a biodiversity of the avatar hybrid animals like at the begining when sokka was talking about tracking tiger seals, it would have been helpful if there were a huge heard of them and then when the fire nation

Well SilentDivergence I'll tell you why this movie sucked those who watched it. First off the storyline was way too rushed (for those who either watched the cartoon series or not) and the characters way of expressing themselves was bland as if they all ate a huge load of immuno depressants. Whenever they would do their bending actions there was an uneccesary pause for that element to bend whereas in the series once someone lift their feet or hands that element immediately lifts in the air.

@BrontoSmilodon1 Your points are well taken. While I have never advocated that this was by any means a great movie, I also haven't gone to the extreme of criticizing it as being the worst. Opinion on what is good an bad is all subjective. You are correct that this in no way captures the essence of the Avatar series and comparing the two very much proves your points. I tend to try separating film adaptations from their TV counterparts when I watch because otherwise they tend to never measure up.

1. Zuko's scar
2. Correct Names
3. Funny Sokka
4. They need Aang to be happy and show some feeling toward Katara that is like his entire character.

This movie was inaccurate and dull. I should have watch Twilight Eclipse, and thats saying something since I prefer Harry Potter. Im glad shamalamadingdong could not have use the word "Avatar" on its title. Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender was absolutely glorious, M. Nights Shamalan's The Last Airbender was a laugh and at least i watch the movie for free so money did not matter.

I did miss the giant water thing Aangs transforms into but I felt the wave was more real to Aangs personality.

The movie might have been good for people who haven't seen the tv series but in the tv series everything the fight sequences, the bending, just everything about it was done very well. In the movie they changed to much of it, I know when you make an adaptation of something there are things you change to make it your own but there are some things you don't change. Like the bending, it took to long in the movie and it just didn't flow the way it did in the series.
