Well, where is the water source from?? I believe the water source comes from you because you add that too the machine. If you add hardfloor liquid/chemical then that will be use. Still, there is one exception, if the machine are made for liquid usage then there is a chance it was spray out alot of liquid on the floor, which is not good for hardwood floor that does not use alot of hardwood's floor liquid/chemical. Sometime too much is not good.
It has this cliff sensor that when it gets near an edge, it wont fall down. If your question is that it will go down steps and clean them, it doesn't.
