I get 9-10 Mbps down & 3-5 Mbps up in San Francisco, 4-7 Mbps down & 1-2 Mbps up in Sacramento, and 8-9 Mbps down & 2-3 Mbps up in Modesto. Just imagine the speed of Sprint's WiMax by the end of this year, when towers are up in most 4G market and running at full blown speeds.
dude honestly, can you not hold the camera fuckin still?? Its not like you fuckin recording anything moving, your recording a still picture.... A monkey could do a better job then you.
@faceless127 tell you what. the next time i'm in a room full of people pushing each other in an enclosed space to get closer to a product, i'll be sure to keep you in mind and make priority #1 not shaking the camera as I get hit while filming a 30 second video.
Wow I thought 4g was going to be faster maybe it will in the coming month and years but for not I'm not upgrading. Please don't attack me but my iPhone 4 gets about 3.5 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up
Sure, it's always going to be fast at a Sprint event. Take it out of their controlled environment and suddenly you're only slightly faster than 3G. That's clearly worth the $10 monthly premium. Way to go, Sprint.
@surfingsuicune If you don't have a EVO, you don't know what you are talking about. I get 6 mbps speeds on my Evo 4G in Maryland. Anyways, Sprint is still way cheaper than Verizon and AT&T. And just about the same as T-Mobile, except T-Mobile's 3G service sucks and it was the main reason I switched. Verizon was my other choice but they are too expensive.
@InfamousPR No, these are basic principles of physics. Higher frequency (shorter wavelength) signals mean decreasing range and decreasing building penetration. Sprint's version of the 802.16 spec operates in the 2500MHz range, which is significantly higher than the 1.7-1.9GHz channels used for 3G data on various carriers. This is why you might have a full 4G signal outdoors, then all but lose it when you go inside. Verizon's LTE (700MHz) won't have that problem, theoretically.
@surfingsuicune Well, you are right about loosing the signal inside but by far, I'm getting good signal at my work and inside my house though sometimes i lose it in other places. But still, until Verizon's 4G is ready i think i'll be satisfied with Sprint. Plus, I'm almost sure Verizon will increase the 4g premium to $20 which will end you paying big bucks. I'm only paying $60 a month on a family plan so nobody can beat that.
I only had 1 bar of 4g on my evo and got 3 mbps on the speed test. When i had 2 bars i got 6mbps. I've gotten as high as 8mbps here in salt lake city and 4g just barely rolled out here, i think they are using better towers or something for wimax here in salt lake, cause it seems to be working better than pretty much any other city.
I was at the Sprint store today, and got a chance to play with this phone. I like this phone a lot. I live here in dallas tx, so 4g is here, I did a speed test with this phone and got 6m with only 2 bars.
is WiMax only available in the US? I live in kuwait where they have Mifi, but im not sure about 4g and Wimax. Also, will i be able to use sprint tv (or another similar app) without being with sprint?
Wimax only works in the US right? i mean i live in kuwait and there Mifi is available, but im not sure about 4g and wimax. Also, can i use sprint tv even though im not using sprint?
@androinica WiMax isn't a 4g technologyYET. The developers are testing a new update for WiMax that will boost the download and upload speeds through the roof. Something like 100 MB connections for phones, 1GB for laptops.

@androinica You're smoking crack... Slower than T-Mo's 3G???? You're an ignorant fool with very little understanding of current wireless technologies.
@androinica I heard somewhere that 4G is faster than any 3G network, the reason it's slower here is because they created a temporary 4G network for where you guys where, which didn't have the full 4G speeds.
@androinica lol tmobile 3g here sucks south texas tmobile 3g sucks barely any coverage and slow as hell i did go to a sprint store and the 3g was horrible for being inside the store i couldn't load shit
@androinica no Sprints 4G is UP TO 10x faster. Why is it slower than Tmo 3G? cuz sprint has more ppl on their network i dont get why ppl think that HSPA+ is 4G Im not claming HSPA+ as 4G cuz all they(at&t and tmo) will use it for is a backhaul for their LTE 4G i claim HSPA+ as Super 3G. Super 3G is still 3G, no matter what I don't care if its faster than Sprint 4G on occasion but thats because it gets congested. All networks get congested. on my terms, WiMax and LTE are the ONLY 4G technologies.
@valfor234567 Well said. Theoretically, HSPA+ & LTE are faster than WiMax. THEORETICALLY!!! That doesn't mean is, or it will be faster than WiMax, and I don't know why some people take it and pass it as a fact. I too get tired of hearing people tell me that their HSPA+ enabled phone pulls a faster speed test than Sprint's WiMax, until I pull out my Evo, switch on 4G, run a speed test, prove them wrong and make them feel stupid.
@MrSneakerLover Sprint states 4g is up to 10x faster than 3g, not that they are 10x faster than 3g, by comparrison sprint 3g data speeds are 600 kbps - 1 mbps peak of 3.1 mbps, Sprint 4g is 3 mbps - 6 mbps with peak speeds beyond 10 mbps, the same as dsl service. The difference is the WiMax is a new technology, it operates on the 2.5 ghz range, not 700 MHz. as does gsm data the same reason Voice on CDMA is cear compared to GSM higher frequency = more stable connection.
@MrSneakerLover Also Sprint Wimax is capable of relaying data between towers wirelessly, most companies the only wireless connection is from you to the tower your phone is transmitting to, after that it is all handled by backhaul, with WiMax Data sent can be managed by the wireless network if it knows how to route the data, increasing speeds and removing backhaul for Sprint, the newer updated 3g towers on t-mobile do not do this tmobile still has to transport the data over copper or fiber lines
@IIBlindEggo Ya your right we are at about the worst we will see 4g
