It's one of those things that you see and don't talk about. It's the thing that you try to "unsee". You want to "unsee" it because... it isn't a poorly made movie. It's almost... too realistic. You can't enjoy this movie. You can see it and get the urge to see it again, almost as if to prove to yourself that you really saw what you saw.

i read the director said they learned of the killer in NY after the movie had already been filmed so if its the one i read about then it's unrelated. The killer tortured them before the killings and also taped a bunch of stuff other than killing so the kill count wasn't really up that high. The excuse in the film for him getting away is pretty cool, but i don't want to spoil anything intentionally.
